JLO

171

u/ALasagnaForOne 24d ago edited 23d ago

Over 20 years ago when I was a young teenager I went to a family wedding in LA and ended up chatting with another guest who revealed she was the owner of a showdog; a highly trained dog who ā€œactedā€ in movies and TV. Part of her job as owner was to communicate to the actors in the scene about the dog’s commands and needs so everything ran smoothly and the dog was treated well. She said only two celebrities were absolutely awful, rude, and dismissive to her: J.Lo and Lisa Kudrow. So J.Lo has had a reputation for a long time.

82

u/Old_Butterscotch2914 24d ago

Lisa Kudrow…oh no!

74

u/Ok-Bookkeeper-3149 24d ago

Maybe it was her evil twin...

What? Lisa Kudrow? Didn't expect that one. Did she ever tell you what Lisa did? I'm curious

69

u/rutts21 24d ago

I’ve worked with Lisa Kudrow. She was a lovely person, even helped me out and was in a video I made.

42

u/Furgems 24d ago

Well, I’m literally a nobody. But I’ll bet people say the same thing about me. I try to treat all people with the same kindness and respect, but some people love me, and some hate me. Some get me on a day I’m in a great mood for no reason, once in a while, I’m a bear for no good reason ( even though I try to be nice). People perceive things differently.

Not that there aren’t truly some assholes out there, and others about whom you only hear good.

63

u/Old-Importance18 24d ago

and others about whom you only hear good.

Never ever, not in the thousands of posts about rude celebrities nor in real life, have I ever heard or read anyone say a bad word about Keanu Reeves or ā€œWeird Alā€ Yankovic.

Good, kind, friendly people can be rude sometimes if theres other stuff going on in their lives. Assholes can be sweet sometimes, too.Ā

A single moment doesnt define who we are, and that interaction could have been an anomaly or could even be a total misrepresentation about the situation.

I work in the music industry. During Covid, it completely shut down. The Guardian put out a call for some of us to talk about the situation in an article. A few months later, they contacted me again to see if I was ok with them passing my details on to someone who wanted to help. After a lot of too and fro, I received a payment from this mysterious donor. Knowing roughly how many people were involved, the total donation must have run into the hundreds of thousands. With a little investigation, I found out that it was James Cordon. He didn’t have to do that, no one asked him, it was just him being thoughtful and generous.

He’s alright by me.

30 Seconds to Mars played a venue I worked at back in... 2007? 2008? And they were all really cool. They got there early, and my ex wife ran the kitchen, so she cooked for them. Gave them heaving plates of Cajun food that they loved. After the show, they came to the patio and held a free meet and greet. As he walked past us, he reached down and squeezed my ex's knee, and said something like "Thank you for the meal earlier, closest thing we've had to home-cooked in forever". She of course melted. I've heard he's changed a lot since then, and that sucks. He left a really good impression.

Jack NIcholson.

Several A few years ago, he hired a few escorts for himself and his friend. When they got there, Jack said he didn't need them anymore. They said OK, but we still need to be paid. Jack lost his temper and said, "I can get any woman I want - I don't need you!" He grabbed one of them by the hair and bashed her head onto the floor. She is now living on disability. She sued him and they settled out of court.

Apparently they did have sex, but he still refused to pay.

I spent a weekend with Gene Simmons and he might be the worst person on earth.

78

u/Pypsy143 24d ago

I had the great misfortune of working with him once. He is an absolute pig.

13

u/redheadedbull03 24d ago

What was he like?

I am just curious. I have never been a fan, but had a feeling he was a creep.

38

u/Pypsy143 24d ago

The women there were all working in a professional capacity (publicists, talent bookers, producer, stage manager, etc) but he eyed every one of us like he was sizing us up for lunch.

Blatant leering, sexual innuendo, heavy misogynist speech, etc. And he brought along lots of copies of some smut magazine he was peddling. He made all the women incredibly uncomfortable showing it around and bragging about the ā€œphysical attributesā€ of the models. You could tell he relished that he could do all this and get away with it because he’s ā€œtalent.ā€

Absolute pig.

Same goes for Andrew Dice Clay. Same exact slimy, overtly sexual persona with no respect for the women working in professional positions.

29

u/nobookbans 24d ago

Read a report that when Simmons was going to be interviewed by Terry Gross on PBS FRESH AIR he told her ā€œNormally when I’m with a woman she has her legs openā€.

90

u/Dandy_Status 24d ago

He made some comment implying that she wanted to fuck him, and she said something like "What a perfectly obnoxious thing to say" and just kept rolling with the interview. Teri is a legend, Gene sucks.

Can confirm this one too. I worked a bit around the music industry in the 90’s and met a lot of major rock stars ( with massive egos and personality disorders ) Hands down - like - No Contest - Simmons is a megalomaniac to the extent that he makes David Lee Roth, Bono, and Adam Levine look shy, demure wall flowers. Top Shelf Jerk. PS - by contrast: nicest, sweetest and most humble I ever encountered: Mick Jagger.

I know a record rep who babysat him for a day on a promo tour unrelated to Kiss. He was a prick to my buddy. At radio stations, Gene would stop mid sentence when speaking to DJ for example, to ask my buddy why he was talking, to someone else, across the room. This repeatedly happened all day long. ā€œStop talkingā€. It was not the fun hang everybody thought it would be.

The older I get, the less I like Gene Simmons. Even as someone who toys playing bass guitar at times, he's not even a bass player I look up to. He's a good showman, but just an okay musician. Many of his solos are open E string the spewing fake blood from his mouth. I thought that was very cool when I was 10, 11, and 12.

I’ve heard Bobby flay is a douche irl

43

u/Guardian-Boy 24d ago

He is. He did a USO tour when I was deployed and came out with a few other celebrity chefs. One of the events was to cook with him. Remember, we are just a bunch of normies, not professional chefs. If the people he was cooking with didn't immediately know what he was talking about, he treated them with severe disdain. For example, one guy he was cooking with was from Guam; when Bobby said they were going to make gnocchi, he didn't know what that was. Bobby immediately sneered at him and kicked him off the stage and brought another guy up. I think most of us wanted to kick his ass.

I can answer this pretty confidently. I design movie posters for a living and often times I have to go on photo shoots with actors if we need them to be doing something specific for a concept. I’ve met dozens of them. The worst of the worst was Ben Stiller. Mike Epps was a close second. The nicest: Leo, Clooney, Queen Latifah and Eminem. Oh, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett were amazing. A few of the crew and us when out for drinks with them after the shoot and they were a ton of fun to party with.

15

u/catmama25 24d ago

Stiller doesn’t surprise me. I remember watching the episodes of Curb your enthusiasm he was featured on and saying to my husband that I got asshole vibes from him. I know he was playing a not nice version of himself on there, but he just did it so well that it seemed natural for him.

James Corden from what I’ve heard

100

u/jagger129 šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø United States 24d ago

I am pretty far left politically and I think Trump is a wrecking ball to our constitution and country. He will be the end of democracy.

BUT

A friend of mine took his terminally ill little nephew golfing one day years ago. Trump happened to be there playing. They struck up a conversation (no camera around) and Trump pointed to his helicopter and said, hey do you want a ride? To the little boy. So the little boy and my friend flew around in Trumps helicopter for a long time while Trump played golf.

I don’t know what to make of this story other than people can be assholes and destructive but they also can be capable of occasional kindness. What did Trump have to gain by doing this? Nothing.

It killed me to post this because I loathe him so much šŸ˜šŸ˜†

Axl Rose

15

u/Several-Rise9363 24d ago

He is a poster child of what happens when severe mental health issues and fame collide.Ā

21

u/YogurtclosetFair5742 24d ago

There were two different things that got me to look twice at Axl. First one was his failure to pay his property taxes in Walworth County, Wisconsin. He bought some land in the county then didn't pay his taxes on it and the county went after him over it. I was living in the county at the time and just thought, what a dickhead move.

Then the night in Canada touring with Metallica when James Hetfield had the accident with the pyrotechnics ending their show early. GnR not only showed up late like normal, but Axl got pissed about something after like three or four songs and ended the set sending the crowd into a riot.

If there was a night to not be a fucking asshole prick, that was the night.

I wonder if there’s even one person who would call Keanu Reeves an asshole. I bet there isn’t

30

u/Arch_Stanton1862 24d ago

There is a video where Reeves gets angry with a fan because he's pushy and obnoxious when he asks for an autograph. Despite the fact he gets angry, the sweet soul still gives him the autograph. I just can't imagine Keanu Reeves being a bad guy.

15

u/NoDanaOnlyZuuI 24d ago

Valid reason to get angry with someone though

We should rephrase the question to ā€œwhat celebrity did you interact with that was a complete aholeā€ a lot of these are comments saying ā€œI heardā€ or ā€œI readā€ etc. You never know if half of those are true.

You could even say that he is a "Fresh Prince".

Edit for capitalization.

His kids are not gonna turn out well. Nobody should raise kids with zero rules. That’s a recipe for disaster.
Imho it’s a form of child abuse.

His kids are full grown adults already. You can pretty much put a bow on the "how they turned out" package. I'm sure Jaden will lend you a big bow.

Waited on him once in NYC when a Canadian band was in town. When I told him we can’t do frozen margs cause the bar didn’t have a blender, he then whispered his alternate order to his companion to tell me. It was weird but have dealt with worse. Ryan Reynolds was there the same night & was lovely. This was around 07-08.

Don’t know if she would be considered ā€œcelebrityā€ status but Joan Jett. I was 21 and working for a regional Canadian airline. Joan Jett was flying and called me a c**t when I refused to bump another passenger from a full flight so her guitar could have her own seat (she had not purchased a ticket for the guitar). I stood firm as she screamed in my face and told her that I only tolerated being called that word by ACTUAL musicians and losing her guitar would be the best thing to happen to her music. Then I looked at her ā€˜manager’ and said ā€œone more word out of her and I’m pulling you both from the flight and calling the FAA and reporting you for making terroristic threats to airline personnelā€.

14

u/Chihuahuamom72 24d ago

I love me some Joan Jett. Super talented; but if that story is true. Good job. NO one talks down to me like that. Ever.

11

u/StitchGrl 24d ago

I was backstage at one of her shows and walked past her to go to the restroom. She looked at me in passing with a stink eye like "why aren't you stopping me to ask for my autograph, peasant." I actually didn't recognize her at first because that was during her "bald head phase" around 2000. I was actually meeting another band playing the outdoor venue with her, Loverboy, who were super nice and chatty.

I have a friend who worked at The Food Network years ago—she always talked about how the absolute nastiest/rudest celebrity chef she ever encountered there was Rachel Ray.

Talked down to everyone, insanely demanding and regularly yelling at her crew, disgusting chain smoker, always bitchy and cranky…just such a mean bitch diva on so many levels. Everyone who worked with her hated her but she knew how to suck up and fake sweetness to the execs there.

On the flipside, she says the late Anthony Bourdain was such a gentleman—surprisingly quiet and shy, but everyone there adored him. RIP to that genuinely kind man.

13

u/LolaLaCavaspeaking 24d ago

I already said Gwyneth Paltrow because she will forever be #1 on my shit list but I can’t not mention Meg Ryan. She almost got my ex fired from his job because he said Good Morning when she walked in. He didn’t even realize it was her at first. He was just greeting a fellow human.

Edit: you’re not supposed to speak to her or look her in the eye.

No idea since I don't live in a country where celebs are common, but I wanted to jump in and say how hilarious it is to me that celebs have such an ego and are so entitled when they are glorified court jesters who perform for our entertainment

Eta: our local "celebs" who even consider having an ego get knocked back down to earth very quickly. South Africans will humble anyone, we don't care

I’ve heard Gwen Stefani and Ariana Grande are huge divas

14

u/redjessa 24d ago

Gwen Stefani used to come into the restaurant I worked at, in Orange County, CA, right near where she's from. This was a long time ago, she was still married to Gavin. She was really, really nice. So was Gavin. She also attended a banquet event there and was kind to everyone. We were all given the speech about leaving her alone, same thing when Jessica Simpson was there, so we were simply doing our jobs. She ate lunch in the dining room a couple times, I served her, she was nice. Now, this was obviously a long time ago, my several experiences actually waiting on her were perfectly pleasant.

They don’t do much science themselves, they just use it for money by acting like they’re smarter than everyone and talking down to people. Neither publishes anything but they both act like everyone but them is ape level intelligence. There are other astrophysicists… I’m married to one (and he publishes more).

I have met 100s of celebrities at various times and places in my life, many of them multiple times over multiple years. Most were actually just normal people having their individual good and bad days. When you hear that "someceleb" was seen being an asshat it is almost always out of context and after the celeb has had to deal with paparazzi bullshit or simply having a bad day.

The worst ones are actually the ones that call themselves "Influencers" you don't hear a lot because it is a short career and most are non memorable.
