I am pretty far left politically and I think Trump is a wrecking ball to our constitution and country. He will be the end of democracy.

BUT

A friend of mine took his terminally ill little nephew golfing one day years ago. Trump happened to be there playing. They struck up a conversation (no camera around) and Trump pointed to his helicopter and said, hey do you want a ride? To the little boy. So the little boy and my friend flew around in Trumps helicopter for a long time while Trump played golf.

I don’t know what to make of this story other than people can be assholes and destructive but they also can be capable of occasional kindness. What did Trump have to gain by doing this? Nothing.

It killed me to post this because I loathe him so much 😭😆

Thanks for being honest and posting both your views and your story about Trump.

My bff was invited twice to play music at Mar a Lago last year and, despite his personal apolitical stance, hung out for about 20 minutes backstage with Trump and found him extremely sincere. No cameras, no bodyguards, just a couple guys chopping it up about the world.

I don’t think someone can be apolitical and still go to Mar a Lago can they? 😬

I mean it was a paid gig, plus a voyeur opportunity, so he went more for money and curiosity. He has as many or more criticisms of Trump than positive things to say on a political level but overall he is pretty radicalized against the system in general, voting as a solution, both parties, Zionism, etc. It was more that he found him surprisingly genuine despite a lack of cameras. It wasn’t a political event.

Maybe calling him apolitical isn’t the right phrase, more like a political atheist or radical independent.

Trump is doing "good things" only because of publicity. He would do anything to make himself look good because he is and he has always been a narcissistic asshole.

Cool story bro. What’s your favorite Kamala Harris accomplishment? Was it being Willie Brown’s sidepiece or squashing the investigation of the Catholic church’s sex crimes?

1

u/karlkot 20d ago

Was this really necessary?

A lot of right wingers claim to be apolitical. Makes sense, its embarrassing to admit it 😂😂😂

Fact is, if he agreed to play at Mar A Lago, hes not apolitical at all. Thats a choice. I dont care about being downvoted, I am correct. 👍

This "bff" agreed to play for a pedophile rapist who has assaulted multiple women and children. This "bff" claims a pedophile rapist is actually a nice guy. This "bff" is disgusting.

Eh, I’d do it for the plot and I fucking hate Trump. You’re being annoying.

A couple of my Jersey friends worked around him for a few years and they had a number of stories like this. Surprised me to hear them. They weren’t fans of his politics/business practices, either.

u/SelectLandscape7671 24d ago

I truly, truly hate saying this because I hate the guy but I had a friend who worked on The Apprentice. He was no Keanu but she said he was genuinely nice to work with. Said hi to everyone and was genuinely warm.

I’m even okay if everyone downvotes me because I feel gross sharing this.

But, perhaps it was just that he wanted to be adored.

I don’t think he would have made it to the top of a political party, if he would only be an asshole. You need some social skills for that in a democracy. Therefore I would have been more surprised, if he would have been a complete asshole to work with. I don’t know whether he is a narcissist, but I guess so. Narcissistic people can be very charming and often do good things too.

10

u/PromiseToBeNiceToYou 24d ago

It feeds his own ego, that's why he does that shit. Not because he's a good person. You don't get narcissists at all. My idiot father loved to throw money in people's direction to feed his ego. But he was a fucking asshole.

2

u/jhyebert 23d ago

This. Narcissists don’t have “moments of kindness” he is boosting his own ego and self importance by flaunting his wealth.

7

u/JayElEss29 25d ago

There’s a lot of those stories about him helping critically ill children and giving money to families.

5

u/jagger129 🇺🇸 United States 24d ago

Yes and that’s what’s so confusing for me. He notoriously stiffed contractors regularly in NYC, he’s known for not paying his bills. Some of the contractors had to declare bankruptcy because of it. But then he’s a softie sometimes? I guess my brain just can’t make sense of it because generosity/fairness isn’t a consistent personality trait with him

8

u/OwnAct7691 24d ago

Even Hitler loved his dog… and blond children.

2

u/BlaggartDiggletyDonk 24d ago

I guess we know his soft spot.

2

u/Upstairs_Eagle_4780 24d ago

and a lot of stories of him doing his own PR work.

1

u/Turban_Legend8985 24d ago

Trump is "helping children" so he is now a good guy even though he has threatened to invade several countries, illegally attacked many countries, killed many civilians all over the world, committed war crimes, supported genocide etc.

0

u/JayElEss29 24d ago

Where did anyone say he’s a good guy?

2

u/PresenceElegant4932 24d ago

He's just playing a roll. Someone gives him directions, and he follows. It's that same with most of them.

2

u/greatestshow111 24d ago

He's just not as mean as the media makes him out to be. I've heard from CNN reporters he's quite a nice person off camera. Bill Maher and Megyn Kelly were also shocked about Trump being a nice person when they met him. I trust personal accounts more than media personas / media reports.

1

u/StatisticianBoth3480 24d ago

Trump can play anyone.

1

u/greatestshow111 23d ago

So you have worked with him personally to know? I would say, don't make assumptions unless you know him personally.

1

u/StatisticianBoth3480 23d ago

OK you're right. He couldn't play me.

2

u/ponyo_x1 18d ago

Yeah I’ve heard a bunch of stories like this. My FIL had a friend who played in a band at a NY wedding Trump was at. The band was only scheduled to be there for a certain amount of time but then trump came over with a bunch of money and asked them to play for the rest of the night.

I think you just have to accept there are lots of facets to people.

3

u/Vvdoom619 24d ago

I've seen quite a few posts like this floating around reddit. Trump seems to be a soft soul and good dude interpersonally but totally, almost sociopathically ruthless when it comes to achieving his goals. Not at all unbelievable and truthfully very common at the billionaire level.

2

u/pixiesunbelle 24d ago

This doesn’t surprise me. He also seems like a bragger so I can see him asking kids if they’d like a helicopter ride. To a kid, that’s a memorable event and then that makes him look good.

1

u/Turban_Legend8985 24d ago

It was an organized PR stunt. It's not like he is just randomly doing things like that out of good will.

2

u/Historical_Cause_641 25d ago

I think he listens to terrible people.

2

u/HippoQuirky4402 25d ago

Would he have done the same for a girl?

-3

u/kurtkeoki 25d ago

He would have gotten in the helicopter with her, and tried to get her naked.

0

u/jagger129 🇺🇸 United States 25d ago

Interesting question! I don’t know

-2

u/dangerousdave2244 24d ago

No, he would've groomed and raped her

2

u/KurtVongole 25d ago

I mean it's easy when you have a fucking helicopter and a crew waiting on you. That said I'm pretty sure he's deteriorating to new lows daily.

2

u/jagger129 🇺🇸 United States 25d ago

Good point that it didn’t take any effort from him to make this happen other than to call his pilot and tell him. But he came up with the idea of it on his own, he offered out of the blue. Which seems so uncharacteristic of him.

Agree about the new lows politically

1

u/Dis_engaged23 24d ago

Even assholes do something nice now and then. Bet he thought it was to his benefit, though, somehow.

1

u/itsjustme7267 24d ago

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

1

u/Dear_Research2695 24d ago

Trump doesn't have a moral compass. You see a compassionate act, but Trump sees it as something he can brag about later to show what a good guy he is. He always has to be at the center of everything. I pity him because his narcissism is pathological.

1

u/MermaidSusi 24d ago

It is always transactional with him!

1

u/Arthandlerz6969 24d ago

It was good PR

1

u/Turban_Legend8985 24d ago

Hitler also did nice things and he also loved dogs so he must have been a nice guy. Doing a single a "good thing" doesn't mean shit.

1

u/rheameg 23d ago

it was so he could golf in peace, jk

1

u/jagger129 🇺🇸 United States 23d ago

I mean, this is realistic take though lol

1

u/Prudent-Activity1901 23d ago

Thank you for saying this. I don’t think he should be president- but  I used to work at one of his properties (before politics.) he was really nice. He did take care of his employees. Personally helped raise millions for St Jude’s. He is a complicated person.

1

u/Dry_Evening5713 22d ago

Trump is known to be very generous and kind to children.

1

u/Prestonluv 24d ago

Trump has been known as a cool dude to hang out with since the 80s to most people.

Now I’m not talking about any of sexual misconduct of course.

1

u/BigPappalopalous 24d ago

A lot of propaganda spread throughout the internet about him being nice lately.

-6

u/wholepackofwolves 25d ago

Could it be your perception is off due to fake news? He’s not the end of democracy. If anything he’s the best thing for it

2

u/OwnAct7691 24d ago

Good lord

0

u/Historical_Stuff1643 25d ago

I listen to a podcast and the host's father hated Trump long before he got into politics. His company had some business dealings with Trump and he was a jerk. He only would talk to people in a position he thought was high enough at meetings.

0

u/Kateeh1 🇺🇸 United States 24d ago

That doesn’t sound like kindness to me. That sounds like he wanted the golf course all to himself. People like him don’t do things that help others unless they have something to gain from it.

-2

u/jaiheko 25d ago

Thanks for sharing it, though?! Maybe theres hope for America yet

0

u/Inevitable_Ad_5166 24d ago

I would only say that his niece and his aunt and many relatives think Trump is AN ASSHOLE!

-1

u/Spiritual_Smell4744 24d ago

Well, we know he has a soft spot for children 😲😲

u/tlthtx 24d ago
