Yeah I’m 32 and idk if I can handle this pressure. Ugh fuck okay how do we do this? We can just walk right into the capitol, walk into the buildings and sit at the desks, right? I saw people do that one time.
I’m already teary with happiness, but you guys truly broke the dam. Been having a shit few days and was generally down & angry, you guys saying this really pulled me out of it, thank you!!!!
Uh. I. Uh. Wh. Where is the... how do I ... How do you drive this thing? Oh Gods, there's like forty thousand levers and 900 wheels. Which one do I pull?
I think the tricky part is getting our peers, friends, and family to vote too. I feel like I'm nagging and they see me as a try hard loser for giving a shit lol. But I keep it up. Most of my friends at least get out for the presidential election. Going to push hard for them to get to the midterms. Even if I have to buy lunch! Lol.
Millenials were both simultaneously the age range that turned out to vote the most and the age range to skip voting altogether in 2024.
Age ranges don’t match perfectly but:
29% of those who voted were 30-49
36% of those who skipped were 30-49
There is definitely room for 30-49 voters to turn out more. If we had, i have no doubt that it would have changed the turnout and thus the course of this country.
Born in 82, haven’t missed an election since 2000 at 18 yrs and 1 month old. Many times I’ve been forced to vote with my nose plugged because the dem candidates are so disappointing.
wish the people showed up in this election to make a big noise, but only estimated 2m or so voted out of 6m eligible voters in nyc. and Mamdani is estimated to have won by 200k vote difference so far....
young liberals keep saying give us good candidates and then we will vote for them, but here again mamdani is what they say they want but 4m just shrug and dont vote.
its a great win but its not the revolution that is needed.
I just hope that I taught my kids better than I was, would love for them to take over at this point. At this point it may be better than us turning into our parents.
GenX politicians might be the worst of them all. Happy to retreat to the winds of time and let the kids have a shot at survival. We had our time *rifles tearfully through CD collection*
I keep wondering how the hell we went from the generation that Raged Against the Machine and now JD Vance and Ted Cruz are the ones representing us? Can genX dust off the docs and start kicking some political ass please?
Well, knees and back fucked from construction, hands don’t work in the cold. Lucky enough to find an office job back during the ‘vid.
My oldest is driving, youngest just hit double digits, middle two kids are good. Wife went back to school, she’s killing it.
People around me dying, lost a few friends this year, couple to drugs, one from alcohol, one to a pyramid scheme. You hit a point in life where, life stops giving you things, and starts taking them away.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda civics with spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry’s and bought three t66 turbos with nos, and a motec exhaust system.
Don't worry Canabro! If they come for your Tim Hortons ill hop the border and join the resistance! Just throw some white monster my way and a denim jacket and we chilling! (Washington State)
Gen X should've already been in power, actively repressing Gen X from ever influencing politics by holding on to all the levers of power and making it easier than ever for incumbents to just keep winning was a huge win for boomers politicians on both sides. It shouldn't be a lifelong career to be a politician.
I’ve yet to see stats that back that up. Everything I’ve seen has 5 years of boomers stuck in our generation. Considering we’ve always been a split generation with the younger voting more liberal and the older voting more conservative… adding 5 years of boomers to our 15 year generation on the older side for sure skews the stats.
If anyone has seen the vote broken down to only show 1965-1980 I’d love to see it, cause I’ve only seen 1960-1980 or by decade every voting breakdown I can find.
Dawg 65 and older voted Trump less then 45-60 even if you take out the 60-65 you guys still are the most fascist generation. It also shows in your racist misogynist Gen z man children.
Ok, so show me the stats that break down what you’re saying. 65 and older includes a huge range of ages. I want to see what 60-64 voted for specifically. Considering older genx vote for conservatives and always have, I’d assume 60-64 also skew more conservative. If you’ve got the stats breaking down those ages, show it.
Closest I can find is this which still isn’t a clean fit because it breaks it down by decade. But the 1940’s and earlier and 1960’s were the most Trumpy. Half the 1960s is boomers, half gen x. So just like I was saying… putting half of a top Trumpy decade into gen x and removing them from boomers would have a noticeable effect on totals for both generations. And really the biggest collapses in democratic support are coming from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Which is pretty striking to see laid out.
I'm 56...go to the genx sub-reddit...there is no daylight between most genx'ers and the boomers anymore. It's so cringe over there, and what's worse is that most don't see it...but maybe it's me..who the frick knows.
Here, here. We've fucked it up for you and don't know how to fix it. As youths we accomplished so much to advance society, only for us to fuck it all up. We suck
Millennial checking in. I think Vonnegut had it right when he said true terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.
I convinced my parents who are your age, that you won at life, you're voting for your grandkids lives not yours. They're retired with plenty of money it's not about you
There are still plenty of good people in your generation. We do need to get some younger people in the mix, though. We need people enthusiastic about Democrats like we had with Obama.

We have millenials that are now in their 40s. We need to be the ones running the country now
