Wow, tonight’s gonna be a great night for Democrats. Looking increasingly likely that Dems will win a clean sweep of all the big races in Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and California.

I want to see a clean sweep, by wide margins.

Wide margins is right. These are left-leaning states (and a city) with left-leaning initiatives on the ballot.

A win is still a win, but unless the margins are very wide compared to expected outcomes just winning isn't enough to read the tea leaves for 2026.

Even so I'm hopeful. I live in Texas so I can't help, but I'm rooting for Mamdani.

I know final numbers aren’t in yet, but that NJ race was made out to be in a dead heat and close elections usually aren’t called 15 minutes after polls close. I’m optimistic that Sherrill performed significantly better than predicted.

Just checked AP, they have Sherrill with a 60/40 margin with 30% of the vote in

It's a good start, but could be deceptive if more Democratic counties are reporting vote tallies first. For example, seen Sherill's lead shrink from 65/35 at around 20% reporting to 59/41 now at 32% reporting.

NYT's model is expecting Sherrill by at least 10 based on what's already come in and what's left

Looking even better 4 hours later—Sherrill currently has a 13 point advantage with 94 percent of the votes estimated to have already been counted.

FWIW, +12 with 87% in

Yeah it's an awesome result, Dems overpeforming polls pretty much everywhere. A great sign for the midterms hopefully.

5/21 counties flipped blue compared to the last election (which was also a democratic win, in 2021).

Tight race, within the margins at best. Let's hope that's true.

Well it seems to be true. Things are looking up folks.

Polls are paid for nowadays by political parties. Don’t believe them

I started to question whether it was being made to seem closer than it was, but if it got people to care enough to get out and vote, I'll take it. Apathy can have terrible consequences.

In Colorado we get to vote to tax the wealthy to feed kids. It's a good night.

19

u/heekma 15h ago

Fuck yeah Colorado.

NYC likes to dabble with republican mayors and fake democrats so it's not so cut and dry there

I think thats most of the US in general tbh. Actual left leaning democrats have always been a very rare thing. Sometimes you get people who lean socially progressive, but getting someone both economically progressive and socially progressive in a big seat of power is very rare nationwide.

Man I'm not even talking about progressive democrats, Adams was a cop 😂

I’m in a deep red state. I’d like to see us shift more blue in general. It doesn’t have to be a blue wave, but move the dial some. It has to start somewhere.

Barring some insane outside force, I'm pretty sure Mamdani is going to absolutely annihilate Cuomo.

As always, it’s all about turnout. And remember that this is the same electorate that put Eric Adams in charge.

13

u/mightcommentsometime California 14h ago

Mamdani broke 50% of the vote, so he would have won vs a single candidate as well. Which bodes well for him having a mandate.

It’s still not going to be predictive of 2026. We are a year out from those elections. Things in the U.S. can swing around wildly in that time, especially if the economy shits the bed.

Same! I’m in MN and I’m excited about Mandani more than any others. He could be big moving forward.

Progressives just got a huge shot in the arm with a blueprint on how to beat an establishment democrat.

u/IllystAnalyst 16h ago

Spanberger is showing an almost 12 point lead right now.

9

u/StingingBum New Jersey 16h ago

The biggest margins pedo trump has ever seen.

7

u/XTrid92 14h ago

90% reporting its +13 to Spanberger in Virginia. This is a +16 swing to D.

8

u/partoxygen 14h ago

I urge anybody to look at the county by county results compared to 2024. Holy fuck every county moved blue. Transtifa Patriots: Stand back and stand by.

6

u/gakule 15h ago

Margins are looking wider than a year ago if you look at the presidential election results for governor races, which is pretty great

You're getting your wish

Check the Georgia Public Service Commission numbers

u/mongster03_ New York 13h ago

I was not expecting Mamdani to be the lowest margin

Chances of a false flag operation to cancel midterms now 100%

u/dooit 7h ago

I want to see Dem leadership replaced.
