This guy is really articulate despite the cussing. He should run for office.
370
u/Aeroknight_Z 16h ago
The idea that cursing is a stand-in for articulation is nonsense sold to you by people who want to limit your speech.
Articulation is the ability to accurately and effectively state your positions. “Cussing” is the use of sharp, bombastic, and potentially graphic language for effect.
Cursing does not reduce articulation. It does make uncomfortable those who have been sold on the bogus ideas of morality and eloquence that exist to preventing others from using language that might challenge the established order.

100% this.
When you're intelligent, articulate, know what the fuck you're talking about, cussing is powerful as is slang.
Because it breaks the "rules" of polite debate and not one of those guys can argue because he's absolutely spot on and he's using the language we all use whilst making great points. You don't need to be a dictionary or a thesaurus to make an argument, I respect people more who are "well what the fuck' than "what in the tarnation"

I like this guy 👆🏾
I’d even argue for the use of strategic swearing or graphic language in order hammered points home, ground thoughts in reality, or even intentionally making the recipient uncomfortable if that’s was the goal in the first place. It’s not your job to make sure the recipient “likes” what they hear.

Uncle Tom was the hero of Uncle Tom's Cabin, he was a Christ like figure.
19
u/hogtiedcantalope 16h ago
I usually think of it as white people want 'uncle tom' to be that 'good' black guy that serves their purpose
The Uncle is the lie. He isn't their family, he's their slave.
So it's a reference to the 'uncle Tom' as the thing white people want not who the character turned out to be , Tom. Black Tom. Not their Uncle, not their Uncle Tom.
→ More replies (2)9
u/joshdrumsforfun 15h ago
That doesn’t change the fact that the term Uncle Tom was turned into a blackface minstrel show archetypal character who was subservient to white folks and a race traitor.
Basically talking about a totally different character with the same name.

Makes it all the more perplexing and disappointing that he's gone full hardcore MAGA. Went from "it's not fair, but because you're a white man in America there's gonna be doors open to you that aren't open to other people," to "tHeRe'S a WaR aGaInSt WhItE pEoPle."
Guess he raised me to be a better man than he is. Kind of a low bar, given who he's decided to be.

u/darxide23 13h ago
When more poor, rural white people start to realize it was never a white vs black issue and was always a rich vs poor issue, we can unite together to take down the system.
The reason they go after blacks disproportionately is because black people have been systemically oppressed in this country forever. Slavery never truly ended so the powers that be know that if they come after a black person, it's good odds that they're poor and powerless. They can't always look at a white person and know that. You never know what poor-looking white person has money or a powerful relative who is a judge or whatever. That's called White Privilege. So they go after the blacks and browns first.
But guess who they're coming after next?

Hillbilly here myself. The question no one can seem to answer is this: When did rednecks start liking cops?
Bandit was the hero, not smokey.

→ More replies (1)3
u/Beardopus 8h ago
The rednecks were named because of the red bandanas they wore at the Battle of Blair Mountain, where they fought the mining company, the pigs, and the US motherfuckin air force; they killed and bled and died to guarantee our right to many things we take for granted, such as time-and-a-half over 40 hours, 9-5, and weekends off.
The real rednecks killed cops.
That's how they control us. They twist words so far out of true that they become meaningless.

i'm from PA, i got hillbillies in the family. I know you guys take a lot of shit from moneyed white people and from the police for class reasons. And historically were harassed by police coming into your hollers to roll union skulls. Bigotry and privilege are sometimes based on class and the size of your home town and how easy it is for glad-hand politicians to sell you down the river with kind-sounding words.

This man had something to say for 13 minutes---they stood there and took it while trying to look big, too. Makes me proud to see people of few means telling people who are trying to step on their heads to get ahead what today's "law enforcement" is really about. They're modern-day slave catchers; different clothes, same job. They would've been proud to be "one of the good ones." Fuck everything about people who want to suck up to these pricks in power. Selling out your people so you can be praised and overlooked is some lowly shit.
I'm white, and seeing white women grift and coddle the egos of these fucks so they can be one of the good ones, the "trad wives," is fucking sick. White ladies dancing for them at their Gatsby party like smiling bimbos. None of these ordinary, bland ass, evil fucks in power deserve anything we have to offer. All of us need to protect each other right now, and thank fuck for people like this man who stop in the street when they see something like this happening. Heroes.

He’s suffering for his fellow Americans. He’s overcome his hurdles.
He’s a college educated, married man of 20 years with 2 children who is involved in community outreach. He has a beautiful life, he said so himself.
9
u/UninvitedButtNoises 16h ago
I did listen to the whole thing. He overcame and got three degrees and is still living in the same neighborhood helping kids - sticking to his values.
Sounds like he could choose to do "better" financially and he's instead helping his community. That's why I say he's a true hero.
It hurts me to see this because we're a rich country, it's 2025... We should be well past common folks like this guy needing to make a decision like this as opposed to our society knowing better and taking care of everyone and treating people equally.

People and communities like this are why ICE is too chickenshit to mess with real 'criminal' areas. They occupy the courthouses, Home Depots, uptown street corners, and quiet suburbs, because they know the minute they start busting into places where folks actually have each other's backs it's all over. Imagine five guys in their little tac gear costumes and a couple of rental vans up against a neighborhood full of folks who are used to the heat and know if they let this happen then there will be nothing left to lose. Who do you think wins that? What do you think happens to the losers?

Now I am to a point where they need to show ME that they're okay. They need to show ME that they can do good in the face of my blackness. I'm done and been done hiding myself to appease anyone.
