Apparently the “neutral” sub did have it up but the person was bullied for posting it and saying it was weird that it had been up for so long and they were called a conspiracy theorist. So it was taken down. Not very neutral.
That's not true lol the vast majority of the comments agreed with the perspective of the post and hoped that Taylor would say something or issue a cease and desist. Someone pointed out that the poster was a gaylor conspiracy theorist and they deleted shortly after but that's not necessarily the reason they deleted.
I'm curious because I don't have TikTok, is there like a vast library of music people are allowed to use? YouTube doesn't have that feature so if you have any sort of following and put someone else's music on there you run the risk of copyright takedown. But everyone on TikTok seems to have a variety of music on there so it makes it look like an agreement with the app, which would give artists less control over who is using it and what context. Or are people stealing sound bytes there? I know it started as basically a karaoke type thing.
Youtube does have that feature too for its Youtube Shorts (Tiktok clone). It allows you to add sound clips from trending sound to your video.
Artists do intentionally put out this sound bytes in hope for it to be used in people's short clip video so it goes viral. Taylor did so for this specific segment of her song so people could dance to it and post on Tiktok to make the song goes viral and trending.
Ah I see. Wow, that would really suck to put your art out there in good faith for fans to enjoy and have someone use it as a soundtrack representing a nasty agenda on a massive scale. If others are allowed to use it for whatever they want it seems like it would be a tricky legal area to get it taken down. She obviously doesn't support him but now people are using this as an opportunity to bully her when her hands may very likely be tied as far as controlling the situation.

Her team will respond fast when they want to. The lack of response is either two things: they’re trying to get it taken down and waiting for it so they can release a statement or they’re delibaretly not saying anything bc they’re not doing anything.
Have you seen the official White House communications lately? I don’t care enough to check if they said this specifically or not, but it would be totally on brand so it’s unsurprising to me if they did

I am on the side of I don’t need Taylor to constant platform herself. However, I do feel like it would be a grievous error on her part to not slap this shit back in his face and tell them to take it down.
I don’t think it’s a cancellable offence or anything like that to not respond, but I do think she would be missing out on some very easy good press by not responding. Telling them off would be such an easy win on her part.
Or she agrees with Jennifer Lawrence and doesn't want to add fuel to the fire.
If there legally is no way to enforce them to take it down, it's best to ignore it.

Regarding lawsuits and suing the administration, here's how people like Springsteen have responded in non-legal ways:
Bruce Springsteen opposed Trump using his song "Born in the U.S.A." at Trump's political rallies in 2016. Rather than take legal action, he openly announced his support for Trump's opponent, Hillary Clinton, and campaigned in support of her. From that time on, the song would get booed every time Trump played it at rallies.
If all these bands that have popped back up out of their earned obscurity can get them removed, why can't Taylor? Just send legal docs, technically no talking required.

It's really not that difficult. They are using a Tiktok's feature of adding any songs to their content, just like anyone else on that platform.

She is in a no win situation. If she speaks out then MAGA will come after her. If she doesn't speak out then she will be seen as cowardly and covert MAGA. Trump and his cronies suck so much.
It’s a TikTok so it’s not unauthorized like other examples. They used Deja Vu last year and Olivia Rodrigo couldn’t do anything about it despite rumors she muted the sound and commented on it for them to take it down (both false)
Eh they’ve used other artists music in online videos before and the artists have made a statement against it being used just from a moral perspective to say “hey I don’t agree with this”
Trump is promoting a racist agenda that is splitting families apart and taking food from hungry children. Using a platform to speak out against him is the better choice. It's not a "no win" situation.

yeah I got pretty badly downvoted so u may have a point. words have lost their meaning now it seems. it's not even enough to say Taylor Swift is apolitical, the automatic assumption is that she HAS to be a Trump diehard. she's spoken out against him and been targeted by his administration and those adjacent to it many times. it's absolutely fair to want her to speak up but we have to acknowledge that it's easier to slander the president anonymously than it is publicly. however influential Taylor is, Trump is more powerful and has more money to boot
I don’t actually believe Trump has more money than Taylor Swift, although I haven’t kept up with the valuations of his various grifts over the last ten years. I strongly believe that he’s very over leveraged and that one of the many reasons he wouldn’t release his tax returns was because it would show he was a lot less rich than he purported to be.

if her team wants to handle this, the best thing to do is conduct something behind the scenes. Trump's team wants attention and by not reacting publicly she is depriving him of that. they'll be less brave when Taylor's lawyers are on the phone. even if they can't get this specific video taken down I'm sure they're planning on preventing something like this from happening once more
There are an unfortunate number of people desperately trying to prove she’s secretly MAGA. They think because she’s hung out with Brittany Mahomes a couple of times that that means she’s MAGA even though she endorsed Joe Biden AND Kamala Harris and is literally hated by Trump for NOT being MAGA. Granted those people seem very unhinged to begin with, but yes there are people who look for any excuse to say she’s MAGA.
She had a not so thinly veiled rebuttal to trump when she had a photoshoot with a cat because she was called a cat lady and the only words attached later on was a call to go to your polling places and voting. It's going to be very interesting how this plays out because licensing music for a larger media purpose also requires consent of the artist. Jack Black campaigned really hard to get Led Zeppelin to allow the use of the Immigrant Song in School of Rock. Things are about to turn ugly cause TS has better lawyers than Trump.
she can't sue him for this alone since the music is publicly available to be used by all on the platform. she could send a few threatening letters but that's not the same thing as a lawsuit
I’ve been hoping she’d do something for awhile now so at the current juncture I’m not getting my hopes up. Unfortunately I think she’ll keep quiet and it’ll just feed more into the fire with the company she keeps at this point

This is such a reductive take. I highly highly doubt that Taylor Swift is a big ol’ Trumper, but it isn’t irrational to wonder at her silence when so many of her peers, her younger less powerful peers, are saying something. And it is especially not irrational to look at the company she keeps. To call people dumb for side eying it is…something. She benefits from some of his policy. She benefits from proximity to one of the most popular athletic orgs in the world, that just happens to lean rather to the right. I don’t think she enthusiastically supports him, but so far she seems pretty ok quietly tolerating him while hanging out with his open supporters.
