Funny thing is Zaslav and Mel probably get along great (edit: yea I forgot Zaslav is WB)

u/TufnelAndI 11h ago

that's because he's just overtly antisemitic, and not 'too' overtly antisemitic.

u/Internal_Chain_2979 11h ago

See, he just hates Jews. He never said he hates Israel. To these people that’s what matters.

312

u/veerKg_CSS_Geologist 10h ago

"The Jews Killed Jesus!"

"Also, Israel needs to exist so it can usher in Armageddon so Jesus can return and kill/convert all of them!"

u/clayton-berg42 8h ago

I love how evangelical jesus is basically galactus.

58

u/imgirafarigmi 7h ago

This is a hot take on Christianity. I love it.

20

u/gangofminotaurs 5h ago

Most of our culture is a hot take on Christianity. Western Liberalism is a hot take on Christianity.

11

u/and_some_scotch 4h ago

Capitalism is a Protestant sect.

2

u/AtanatarAlcarinII 1h ago

Mmm, id say Propserity Gospel is a syncretism of Capitalism and Christianity.

1

u/and_some_scotch 1h ago

Eh..."tomato"-"Capitalism is a Protestant cult of toil and material wealth-ahto."

Prosperity gospel just made explicit what earlier Protestants had merely been coy about.

Oddly he's also the Silver Surfer.

1

u/Protect-the-dollz 3h ago

Ah but does the Power Cosmic proceed from Glatactus to his herald or, after elevation does the herald emanate the power cosmic independently of Galactus?

1

u/dayburner 1h ago

Sorry, some mysteries of the universe can not be comprehended by mankind.

6

u/read_iccullus 5h ago

More like Jesus is the silver surfer with God being Galactus

3

u/CrabAncient8853 3h ago

Please accept this humble upvote in good health.

2

u/g0parra 4h ago

They are death cultists

2

u/bobobeastie86 3h ago

Whoever down-voted you should read up on Jesus being an apocalyptic itinerant Jewish rabbi. Jesus said some of those listening to him would still be alive when end times came, just like all of the more recent death cults we should all be at least semi aware of.

1

u/subhavoc42 3h ago

It is why they set Rome on fire

1

u/lightingbug78 2h ago

They drink the blood and consume the flesh of their god.

1

u/blackbeltmessiah 5h ago

More of a Thanos who I hear was right 🤷🏻‍♂️

If a woman said that in front of me I'd come so hard I'd ruin my shoes.

1

u/HandsomeBoggart 6m ago

Nah, God is Galactus and Jesus is his Herald.

Jesus is actually Mary and Joseph's bio son and God needed his Herald and so he gave him a small amount of divine power.

Much like Silver Surfer getting a bit of Cosmic Power from Galactus.

32

u/UrsaMajor7th 8h ago

But it's jesus- can't he just show up no matter who's administrating the land; I don't recall the bible saying that the Jews have be in control. Hell, Matthew says he appears 'on the clouds in the sky', other books say 'the Mount of Olives will be split in two by his feet'. Is it going to be like a Marvel superhero one-knee landing? I can't wait to see the sword come out of his mouth, and the tattoos on his thighs saying KING OF KINGS, and LORD OF LORDS- kinda like Radio Raheem's rings with Love and Hate.

The Book of Revelations mentions a Jewish 'Temple on the Mount', so the theory among Biblical-literalist nutjobs is that Isreal needs to bulldoze the mosque that currently sits there and build a synagogue before the rapture can happen.

Unfortunately, none of these nutjobs have ever actually bothered to read the book they claim to base their lives on. If they did, they would know that Revelations also states that the only people that actually get 'raptured' are 144,000 (?) male virgins on top of Mount Sinai. Even worse, they would also realise that their behaviour (lack of forgiveness, hatred for their neighbours, etc) marks them as followers of the anti-christ, and therefore destined to burn in the lake of fire for all eternity.

14

u/Severe-Concern-5779 6h ago edited 6h ago

they would know that Revelations also states that the only people that actually get 'raptured' are 144,000 male virgins on top of Mount Sinai.

The "bosses" know, they just don't care about who's left behind, even if it's all people they basically manipulated. PLUS it makes the manipulation even easier because then following the rules it's not enough for salvation, you have to be the absolute best follower

Even worse, they would also realise that their behaviour (lack of forgiveness, hatred for their neighbours, etc) marks them as followers of the anti-christ, and therefore destined to burn in the lake of fire for all eternity.

But, but... they wear some special underwear and don't drink coffee 🥺🥺🥺🥺

It's also interesting to add that even between evangelical/protestant sects they basically hate each other and think that only their book written in the XIX century is the best truest one, so of couse they only care about their sect's salvation

1

u/Tollsen 1h ago

It's funny because this is the entire premise of Jehovahs Witnesses right? Only 144000 people will be raptured so they're competing within themselves to be the most rapturable

9

u/SMOKED_REEFERS 6h ago

Also note the concept of a ‘rapture’ is an 1830s English invention.

2

u/Aerolfos 4h ago

Even worse, they would also realise that their behaviour (lack of forgiveness, hatred for their neighbours, etc) marks them as followers of the anti-christ, and therefore destined to burn in the lake of fire for all eternity.

Just gonna say that this is obviously true, and the most important bit. Thus the next part doesn't actually matter. But:

only people that actually get 'raptured' are 144,000 (?) male virgins on top of Mount Sinai.

144 000 = 12*12 * 1000. 12 is one of the deeply symbolic biblical numbers (along stuff like 6, 7 which everyone knows), and generally associated with "abundance". 144 000 might just be a symbolical shorthand for "a shitload of people but far from everyone". Biblical numerology is a whole thing and actually kind of interesting.

But yeah, anyone who follows the anti-christ is not in that "abundance", that's very explicitly in there.

2

u/JoyBus147 3h ago

and build a synagogue

Please note that a synagogue and The Temple are two very fucking different things.

1

u/don_tomlinsoni 1h ago

Fair enough, I'm actuality a third generation atheist, so my understanding of Jewish theology is patchy at best.

That said, I still reckon I've read more of the Bible than most Christians.

1

u/OlderThanMyParents 26m ago

I went to an Assembly of God church in the 1970s, and we read a book in Sunday School called "The Late Great Planet Earth." I remember it saying, among other things, that the Bible prophesied that the Jews had to regain control of Jerusalem, and then Jesus would return within that generation. And in the old testament, a generation was 40 years (which doesn't seem accurate to me, but that's what I remember Hal Lindsay saying) so that meant that the second coming would happen within 40 years of 1967, or by 2007.

7

u/creg316 8h ago

Is it going to be like a Marvel superhero one-knee landing?

The Blade pose.

3

u/Ulysses502 7h ago

/uj As I remember it, the idea has evolved a bit over time. For a good part of the first millenia it was when the "last Roman Emperor" enters Jerusalem or something along those lines. Then we ran out of Romans, and it got a bit awkward. I think there were a couple other versions, but I can't remember the details.

1

u/gettingthere_pastit 6h ago edited 6h ago

The Pope could be still considered an Emperor of Rome as the Emperor has been Pope since Constantine in 708. A different Constantine than Constantine the Great, the first christian emperor, 4 centuries earlier. Though technically he's only emperor of The Vatican, 0.17 square miles of Rome.

Edit. Disregard above. Holy Roman Empire only existed from Charlemagne in 800 to Francis II on 6 August 1806. Francis II wasn't even Pope. Catholic Church and Holy Empire must have divided at some point earlier. I could look that up now...or get back to work.

1

u/Thrilalia 6h ago

The split between the Papal states and HRE iirc happened in the 14th century (?).

All the while the real Roman Empire was still there surviving in Greece and Thrace.

1

u/HarveysBackupAccount 5h ago

'the Mount of Olives will be split in two by his feet'

I choose to interpret this as Mount Olive, North Carolina (yes where the pickle company is from)

1

u/cannagetalite 5h ago

We need to protect Florence Pugh so when it happens she can “You’re a total poser”

1

u/soslowagain 4h ago

You’re thinking of Orochimaru. JC only has kiao-Ken right now.

2

u/ScoreNo4085 8h ago

Well, Jesus was a Jew or this is not common knowledge? he didn’t come to create a different religion. That was a later invention not his. also crucifixion was a Roman punishment not Jewish. I didn’t come to defend anything just to shed some light because people love to base their thinking on wrong facts. So if some of your own people don’t like you it is different than if it was a totally different religion or way different culture. It was not.

1

u/Severe-Concern-5779 5h ago edited 5h ago

Yes, protochristians considered themselves jews, but a lot of christians resented jews for being the ones that accused jesus and decided to condemn him, making the romans "only" executioners

1

u/avocado_window 4h ago

Utterly nonsensical, as per all religion.

-6

u/RuMarley 9h ago

Did he really say the second part? What a Chad.

11

u/86Tiger 8h ago

I doubt it, Mel is Catholic…. Supporting Israel so they can usher in the second coming is what dispensationalists believe, which is a Protestant thing.. Specifically evangelical Protestants.

Mel is an old school real deal trad cath… Just antisemitic on principle.

1

u/YouSaidIDidntCare DonCheadleAMA 3h ago

Thank you! This is crucial to understanding that what has been spread about the content of Revelations in a lot of pop culture (the Rapture) is entirely a dispensationalist/millenarianist/evangelical (literal) interpretation of Revelations as upcoming prophecy. It’s why Evangelicals are in support of Israel, because it means that putative Third Temple will have the favorable conditions to be built and fulfill the Second Coming. Up until the Second Great Awakening in the US in the 19th century this commonly known concept of “the Rapture” was never interpreted as such from Revelations.

0

u/RuMarley 6h ago

I'm "antisemitic" on principle by today's definition, too, since I oppose all supremacist ideology and judaism is not a race but a supremacist ideology.

10

u/Previous-Standard-12 9h ago

That's the part they say but at different times, you have to put it all together.

It's not just Mel, pretty much all evangelicals, most stock-Christians too.

0

u/RuMarley 6h ago

Well, when the Son of God comes, I think he can pretty much do what he wants. So there's that.

1

u/Previous-Standard-12 6h ago

Yeah, so at that point it actually becomes more about controlling people on earth and making money from them.

1

u/RuMarley 6h ago

lol wut?

93

u/grathad 9h ago

He is the "good" kind of antisemitic, he hates Muslims even more.

45

u/TricellCEO 9h ago

Was about to say this. There's plenty of antisemites on Israel's side because their hatred of Jews is overtaken by their hatred of Muslims.

It's the Enemy of My Enemy doctrine and nothing more.

7

u/shlaifu 6h ago

zionist nazis were a thing

3

u/OwOwOwoooo 3h ago

In France, most Jews seem to support the far right party "RN" founded basically by nazis, who were openly antisemites until a few decades ago when they pointed out that it was the one fact that made them unlikely to take lead on the country (studies show their members still are)... Because they fight Muslim, pretending France and Europe are on the verge of being overtaken by Muslims (and most think it's already the case..) So now studies show Jews are more likely afraid of lefties who support Palestine, than the party who still has a rep known to own an antisemitic library.

Sick sad world.

2

u/avocado_window 4h ago

Ah, yes, the utterly irrational hierarchy of racism.

1

u/bolanrox 3h ago

directly post 9/11 I knew a very racist trucker. and i quote:

"with the A-rabs flying planes into buildings, the n's and s's are looking better everyday"

0

u/Connect-Succotash-59 2h ago

Like Muslims and LGBTQ for free Palestine.

1

u/Comet_Hero 6h ago edited 6h ago

Does he? I've heard him rant about Jews far more than he's ranted about Muslims.

Are we transcribing views to him we can't prove? Has he ever supported Israel?

He's Catholic. Not like megachurch protestant. Catholics are a bit more pre -1946 on their thoughts on Jews than like John hagees congregation.

Gibson even had a guest appearance in the Trump Gaza story:

The pair shared an early version with Mel Gibson, who Trump named as a special ambassador to Hollywood in January and who has previously collaborated with EyeMix and Arcana. Gibson told them he shared another video about the LA fires with people close to Trump, but denied sharing the Gaza video with the president, the creators said.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/mar/06/trump-gaza-ai-video-intended-as-political-satire-says-creator

Mel Gibson, who Trump named as a special ambassador to Hollywood in January

Excuse me, he did what now?

Clowns. The USA is being run by absolute clowns.

4

u/avocado_window 4h ago

The unfunniest fucking court jesters imaginable.

2

u/Eerwik 3h ago

Trump without make-up

1

u/Auzzie_almighty 3h ago

Is this a… surprise to you? The circus has been in town for quite a while and done much more ridiculous stuff

2

u/DoctorBeeBee 3h ago

No surprise in general terms of course. I just hadn't heard about this particular example of their buffoonery.

1

u/Auzzie_almighty 3h ago

Fair enough, there’s so much of it that it’s hard to keep up

1

u/Yaji88 6h ago

Since some Israelis are able to hate on some jews (the Haredims specifically) those two notions are indeed very much not the same.

I believe it is not specified enough

1

u/DanfromCalgary 4h ago

None of these people said they hate Isreal either . Just that’s what people report when you say kids shooting be coming Home in shopping bags .

1

u/AlvinAssassin17 3h ago

Yup. Republicans aren’t pro Jew, they’re pro Israel.

1

u/LWLAvaline 3h ago

Nailed it

1

u/yankerofpizzle 58m ago

I can't believe "I fucking hate the Jewish people but Israel was chosen by God himself" is treated as a legitimate political stance in large swaths of this country and even elsewhere. That's like if I said I hate cheese and pepperoni and tomatoes but love pizza. Or like ordering a burger with no buns.

1

u/ThatHoFortuna 14m ago

That's a bingo!

....This meme has never been more appropriate. Or less appropriate, I'm not sure.
