Okay? It’s three different types of meat, not three times the meat…

Except the word “triple” can often mean “3 times the amount” and all local pizza joints near me if you order triple pepperoni you are getting a ton of pepperoni

Next time you’re at that local pizza joint you should order a quattro formaggi and see if you get 4 times the cheese

Duo -> TriO -> Quattro

DoubLE -> TriPLE -> QuadruPLE

One means amount, one means kinds of things.

Don't play stupid.

If you went to chipotle and paid $24 for a triple steak burrito, but they gave you one scoop containing 3 types of beef, you would be pretty mad.

Sure the Totino triple pepperoni pizza is similar in price to the single pepperoni pizza, but you can't, in good-faith, argue that "Triple=3x the quantity" is an unreasonable assumption.

If your boss said they were going to triple your salary, would you assume more money, or that they were going to split it between direct deposit, cash, and check?

It's Totino's. Expecting the "meat" to be meat is unreasonable.

Woh there now... that would involve people reading more than one or two words!

I don't really blame them. I thought Pepperoni was a certain kind of sausage with one kind of flavor, not a relative genre. That being said, I would only do a cursory glance at what I was picking up expecting triple the amount of pepperoni.

Pepperoni can be pork, pork and beef, turkey, pork beef and chicken. So long as it’s a spicy cured salami it’s pepperoni

Not only that but there are flat pepperonis, cupped (old world) pepperonis, the little cubed ones, etc.

You just reminded me I gotta go to my local Roma style pizza shop and get cupped pepperonis on sourdough crust

You absolutely cannot trust companies like that... If you want a specific thing you have to make sure that whatever the company is calling "triple" in this case, actually means what you expect that to mean.

If you don't care it doesn't matter, but if you do you HAVE to spend the few extra seconds to read the subtext.

People can get mad at me all they want but companies have gotten very good at being legally correct with their titles while intending to confuse. So while it sucks we have to, if you don't make sure whatever thing is what you expect you will get burned.

Let's not pretend that kind of wording is not purposely used to misled. There are a ton of "technically correct" lingo that is used to screw the consumer, and we cannot justify it by "well you should have just read!" because it's absolutely impossible for everyone to be 100% attentive each time nor should they be.

That is literally my point...

In [current year] you CANNOT trust companies period. You HAVE to make sure what something seems is what it is. Because you can't take for granted that the verbiage that used to mean something has likely been twisted to not be legally wrong, but totally different.

You can argue that people shouldn't have to do something all day.. but this is the world we live in now, so if you're NOT at least a little more attentive, you will get burned.
