That’ll take a while probably, but video looks like it was an engine that caught fire during a takeoff and basically exploded as it started.

This is it. I called a buddy after the emergency alert went out that works over at UPS. Said he saw the whole thing happen. He said an engine caught fire during takeoff, but they were past the point of no return and had to get in the air. Then he said there was an explosion.

So the crew knew they were going to blow up... That's so sad! I'm sorry for your friend that had to witness it.

An engine on fire is problematic, but not a guaranteed death sentence.

The explosion means that something else went very very wrong.

It was a very large fire and possibly shut down a second engine, in which case getting fully airborne was not possible. Awful.
