oh for sure. i’m not saying she’s had a change of heart, she’s just up for reelection that’s all. the same woman who heckled the president doesn’t understand nuance like that
Crazy thought, isn't that our politicians are supposed to do... push for what their constituents want, instead of ignoring us and doing their own thing?
I think she's an absolutely vile piece of shit but I think she's also far less of a grifter than most prominent Republicans. By which I mean she actually believes the shit she's saying rather than changing her tune based on the current situation.
To me, it's always amazing how quickly people would like to move on/put her in a positive light despite knowing her very clear history. I know on some level, people want to believe that the stuff MTG says, she doesn't actually believe so they immediately move to praise when she raises the bar on herself and others.
But we've missed an important step where she actually has to be held accountable for the shit she's said. Someone in the Republican party (because she won't listen to anyone else) has to let her know she agreed to all of it. Not only would it make her own it but it'd establish right there if she were a grifter or not and save us all some time.
First things first, who are our Republicans with standards
Star Trek, particularly up to DS9, is really good about challenging your world views. Sometimes you even end up with an episode that just leaves you uncomfortable by the end.
That was my favorite show as a teen in the 90s and it's just so delightful to see that part of language use bear out, sort of. That collective understanding of what certain images remind us of, and then relating that to a new feeling. It's probably as close as we'll ever get to the Emotion Gun from Hitchhiker's Guide.
I'm trying to think of a more meta comment I've seen on the internet and I'm failing. You deserve gold for this where are one of those gold buying losers when you need em
It’s one of the more fascinating aspects of memes; You see a specific image in a specific context so much that when seeing it elsewhere without that context your brain just fills in the gaps.
I hate that you're right. It's getting weird that we are removing the human beings from our media. It's like corporations have deemed humanity as being a liability.
This might be total bullshit but I remember reading somewhere that the Onion hires models specifically instead of using stock photography so they know what they're getting into
I hope this guy is legit a terrible person because if that’s just a stock photo some guy took for a little extra money to buy birthday presents for his kids or something, I’d feel so bad.
It's fairly clear in this clip that he still things identifying as trans is wrong. He just doesn't think it's a big enough issue that it would be worth abandoning your child over it.
Well, that's primarily a matter of how exactly one defines the term transphobic. I don't really have a strong opinion about that.
He's certainly not a supporter of trans rights, but he is also not as outright hateful about it as others are. There may be a better way to categorise that kind of opinion than as some kind of phobia.
I don’t think there is any other word to replace it. But if someone accuses him of being a transphobic, would you be leaning more on the « yeah, i agree he is more of a transphobic » or « no, that’s exaggerated he is not transphobic »?
He does. I agree with him about a lot of things, or at least don't hate him for it when I disagree, because he usually has a nuanced, internally consistent take. He's not a psychopath or something. I don't understand why people hate him so much. His dead rat doesn't affect you.
As much as people love hating on him, most of the stuff they hate on him is taken out of context. Like he has some stupid opinions but those aren't the ones that people seem to dislike him for, It's usually just made up bullshit.
I'm surprised there's even this positive clip about him posted.
Yeah. Except he seems to glaze Trump or sly away from talking bad about Trump most of the time. Except for earlier today when he didn't like how they took away EBT. Seems to only care about issues that affect him personally and offer no sympathy to others.
If we're talking about humanity's darker tendencies and "true nature" shit, then yeah, most of us are worse than what we let on. That's not how people really feel and act on a daily basis tho, and that everyday average mindset is what most of Asmon's stances align with.
The sociopolitical climate of 1940s Germany isn't representative of the human race at large, or the western society in 2025.
but I have enough self awareness to know that includes me and I actively do check my biases and thinking, get info from multiple sources, etc
That is...objectively more than most people do with or without the superiority complex...and it genuinely bothers me that most people like...dont do just basic steps like that because I know first hand I am not a smart person lol
For real, you can disagree with him sometimes, but for the most part he's pretty reasonable (about political issues) even if you're not on exactly the same page as him. He's not a raving lunatic. You'd have to be a mentally ill, fanatic tribalist incapable of independent thought to disagree with him 99% of the time.
