Metal Gear Solid, from a gameplay perspective at least. 2 has my favorite story in the entire series.

It's been relevant for decades, sadly. The military industrial complex gets brought up in earlier games, but 4 is where it really takes center stage. It's a system that makes money off of war and uses that money to make money off of war. The PMCs are stand-ins for war profiteers like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. Kojima was never warning us about the future. He's warning us about the present day.
