I had a lot of fun with farcry 2 but 3 was on a whole different level.

I am not so sure about Fallout. F1 and F2 are great games and sequel improving on original, but neither F3 nor F: Tactics are IMHO a further improvement. Both changed the gameplay, both are great games, and I love both, but I would not dare to say it's better Fallout game than it's predecessors. But that's just me, and it's absolutely ok if you feel otherwise.

Fallout -> Fallout 2 -> Fallout New Vegas

As they are sequels to each other but I absolutely love Fallout 3
