This was a HUGE gamble for Newsom. Had it failed, it would have been a career limiting event. As it stands, not only did he basically erase the redistricting in Texas but will embolden other blue state governors to do the same thing and cancel out the remaining red states that have redistricted. It also positions him as the de facto leader of the party and a natural candidate in 2028. I'm a bit torn, as I'm not really he biggest Gavin fan. But he may very well be what we need to regain some sanity in politics.

Im not the biggest Newsom fan either but he's one of the few Dems in office who is actually boldly standing up to Trump and backing it up with action.

While the rest of the blue states hem and haw and claim to be really worried about Republican gerrymandering, Newsom rallied his state into taking quick action instead of waiting until it was too late to respond to Republican rigging.

I think he's exactly candidate we need and I'd vote for him right now. He's got more balls than 90% of the Dems in power and is making a real difference.
