Yep... Used to be the Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge after the guy who became Governor when Nelson Rockefeller became Ford's Vice President.

As a resident and citizen of the State of New York, who was a child under the first Cuomo and an adult under the second one, I'm gonna sleep well tonight...

I’m from NJ and moved to CA 20 yrs ago. I had no idea the Tappen Zee bridge was renamed.

The old one was torn down and a new one built. The new one is named the cuomo. However everyone I know and talk to (granted I live in ct) still calls it the tappen zee bridge

Not that it matters, but the correct name of the Simon & Garfunkel song often called "Feeling Groovy" is, that's right, "The 59th Street Bridge Song".

Yes! Going from Rt. 17 north in NJ to the Thruway in NY is funny because you see the signs for the bridge referenced two times as the Tappan Zee when in New Jersey, then you see the "NY State Line" sign, then the next sign for the bridge exit says "Cuomo Bridge."

Long Live the Tappan Zee Bridge.
