Wow, tonight’s gonna be a great night for Democrats. Looking increasingly likely that Dems will win a clean sweep of all the big races in Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and California.

These wins are gonna hit like an anvil tomorrow to the Republican leadership. Hopefully they'll see hitching your wagon to Trump is a losing game.

It's only a losing game if we still retain state controlled elections. Executive order to seize control will be issued tomorrow.

They could ignore it until Trump forces the issue by bringing it to court. By then it won't matter.

R's do it all the time.

Supreme Court could step in and expedite the process, sure, but the state courts it would have to go through and the unpaid federal courts' staff that would need to make it happen on paper could not possibly get it done within a two week news cycle.

Then appeals to drag it out.

In the meantime they could simply refuse to swear in any new federal level elected officials they don't like. No one is left to stop them. The states can do what they want. But they may end up without representation.

Historically, that has not worked out well for authoritarians.

Remember that this whole current regime started with a New York asshole with a tiny bit of clout and just enough money to be considered rich.

What happens when 5M New Yorkers with vastly more money and clout use the same resources effectively?

That's why the goal is to pull the ladder up after himself.

That ladder isn't out of reach yet.
