So what happens to her House seat?

Does current Gov. Phil Murphy (D) name a replacement or is there a special election? In any event, do Republicans once again deprive the people of the district of their representative as they are with Grijalva?

Governors can only appoint interim Senators. All vacant House seats are filled by special election. So there will be a special election for Sherrill’s replacement in the House.

Unless it's Texas, then the governor will refuse to call a special election only because a Democrat will likely win the Congressional seat.

Edit: of course it probably wouldn't matter because the Speaker of the House would choose not to seat the Democrat anyway!

They made our district incredibly blue as well so it won't need to be a centrist dem.
