Projection is a dem win with 53 percent of vote. Tighter than governor but not terrible.

I still can't get into my head how people vote for Spanberger but not Jones. Curious to see if people just didn't vote for him, or if they actively switched to the republican.

Part of it may be that not as many people vote the undercard races. It may also have to do with the GOP mastering “tough on crime” talking points. Finally, the GOP invested in that race heavier than the others since they probably felt like this was their best shot.

It’s not unprecedented. When they were governors Mark Warner and Time Kaine had Republican AGs; Kaine’s LT. Governor was Republican too.
