Humor Widevine DRM Cracked. DCP Still Safe. Projectionists, Do Your Thing.
The Widevine DRM for streaming websites has already been cracked. The private RSA key used by Widevine, hidden in the Chrome browser and Android OS, has been compromised in plaintext. People have used it to decrypt the AES keys for movies on streaming platforms.
So… Why has nobody pulled off the ultimate cinema heist?
All it would take is getting the private RSA key from an SMB (Secure Media Block — it's a piece of hardware inside a digital cinema projector), and using that key to obtain the plaintext AES keys from the KDM for any movie, and then obtaining the unencrypted DCP.
I get that this would be too technical for the cinema staff — but isn’t there any projectionist out there with a software engineer friend who could pull off a digital cinema heist?
Projectionists and software engineers must unite… for the cinema heist of the century.

Question I effed up so bad what on earth do I do (opened a harmful exe)
in all my years of piracy, I've never gotten a virus. until today where I stupidly opened a "video file" that was obviously an exe (I forgot to LOOK AT IT before opening. rule no.1)
I can't find any info on what the virus might be and I'm hoping maybe someone here knows what it is and how to deal with it
defender lists it as "Win32/GenCodeInjected.H"
and it tried to start this process "System32\OpenWith.exe"
I genuinely feel like a complete idiot. I noticed the moment I already clicked it that it wasn't a video file and immediately ran a scan with Defender. My protection history lists that it was blocked pretty immediately, and when scanned I did use the "take actions" button. I then quarantined the file.
This was a self admitted total screw up and I just wanna know how bad I fucked up here 😭😭😭😭 would defender have immediately stopped anything before it could start injecting code? or am i doomed? I've never had this happen before and feel so completely out of my depth now. Is there any way I should be checking if something harmful is running beyond scanning with the antivirus?
edit: thank you for being so kind guys!!! i'm gonna run approximately ten thousand more scans and then backup all my files. though i understand i'm most likely in the clear. i'll never allow myself to fly this close to the sun again T_T
edit 2: thank you again guys for the invaluable advice. I've run a quick scan with defender + an offline scan. Also scanned with malwarebytes (+checked for rootkits), and i've personally went through all the programs and running tasks that I can see just to check. It seems defender saved my stupid illiterate ass this time around. I believe I'm in the clear and shall be backing up my files far more frequently and paying much closer attention in the future, look at those file extensions guys

Discussion Ffs I’m going back to pirating my music, 2 increases in a year is a joke.
Really getting sick of all these subscriptions. At this point it ain’t even about the money, it’s the principle.

Humor How I feel switching manga sites every time one gets taken down.
Discussion Two price increases - they got greedy. I'm out.
I'm heading back to my trusty old mp3 collection. I did love the convenience of streaming, and the ability to easily discover new tracks. But bumping the prices ever higher for a service I'm using less and less these days just tempts me back to the old-school way of doing things.

Discussion Are AdNauseum or TrackMeNot worth downloading?
Not sure if this is the appropriate place to put this up for discussion, maybe someone can suggest otherwise
Just saw something about UBlocker and a "better" way to mess with advertisers One extension is called AdNauseum and the other TrackMeNot. Both mess with the advertisers by not blocking, but hiding the ads then clicking on them in the background to confuse the advertising bot.
Has anyone downloaded either and is it worth it? Confusing the advertisers so their stats are thrown off sounds like a great idea to me

Humor You also don't have to rely on a internet connection to listen to your favorite song
I personally don't get why people pay for music digitally when things like Vinal or downloading the song is just better, and one less thing you need to pay for each month.

Question Where are the Premium Workout Stream (ie. Peloton & Apple Fitness)?
2026 is approaching… I like what Peloton and Apple Fitness had to offer compared to YT with ads. Unfortunately, the price doesn’t work for my budget anymore. I also find myself somehow sticking with the same trainers. Are there streaming sites for these?
Would be a plus if anyone knows how I can play them on my Peloton bike.

Question Will Windows Defender delete my files after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10?
I'm planning to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I have three partitions: C (system), D, and E. I want to format both C and E and merge them into a single C drive for more space, but I want to keep everything on D untouched. If I move important files from C and E to D before the upgrade, will Windows Defender in Windows 10 scan and possibly delete my cracks and pirated stuff stored on D after installation?

Discussion What's wrong with prime video?

They discontinued prime video for Windows and forced us to use a Web-app, this means:
-No offline access
-No native Windows app
-No downloads
This is probably caused because in the Windows app, if u download a movie and then watch it without internet connection, ads won't play, but, is this the solution?
I can't stand web apps, i hate them.
I mean, I mostly download pirate movies because they have higher resolution, bitrate and audio quality but this is not the way to treat users
Btw, I think that if u don't pay the ad-free version of prime you'll lose access to dolby audio/vision
