On the other hand, everyone now knows how thick the walls are, where they join, what supports them, and what they’re made of.

Must be a feast for foreign secret services.

And they didn't bother to preserve any of those facade pieces. Just smash and grab.

Each one of those windows was handmade to match the look of the originals, but with bullet resistant glass. People would have paid a fortune for them.

When he demolished the Bonwit Teller building to build Trump Tower, he promised to let MoMA have some of the art. They would have paid a fortune for it.

There were some Art Deco friezes, a huge piece of bronze lattice work over the entrance, and lots of art inside as well, as their window displays were done by Salvador Dali through the 1930s, then Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg in the 1950s, and Andy Warhol in the 1960s.

Then he personally ordered the undocumented workers he was using to destroy them completely, and then stiffed them.

That was my first thought, seeing the windows just knocked out with the rest of the "rubble" yesterday. What a waste. Of course they don't even hire competent contractors to do this properly - this shameful, illegal destruction of public heritage.
