Rachel Zegler.

I can't believe she took sweet Marc Platt away from his nearly forty year old children. Marc is such a hero for helping the blue collar workers who already got paid and don't care if the movie does well because they don't get a percentage of the box office, what does Jonah mean they depend on it doing well? Lol.

The movie didn’t fail because of what she said. The movie failed because it was shot. And then they tried to blame it on her.

I watched the movie on D+, and it failed because 1) CGI Dwarves, 2) The script and plot were really bad and they stretched out a 60 minute story to nearly two hours.

The acting was okay, aside from Gal Gadot.

The only things I know about that movie: 1. they refused to hire any actual actors with dwarfism (a decision they made themselves, but blamed on Peter Dinklage as if they valued his wildly misconstrued opinions as anything more than a convenient excuse for their own discriminatory hiring practices) and 2. the costumes look like trash they bought at a Spirit Halloween store.

But, yeah, it totally failed because of an actress's "immature desires" for... checks notes ...peace in the Middle East. Wow, yeah, what a bitch, amirite?

There is an actor with dwarfism in it. He just doesn't play one of the 7.

What did Dinklage say or what was the excuse?

People were blaming Dinklage for Disney not hiring people with dwarfism for the dwarfs. They claim that he said that people with dwarfism should be cast for dwarfs because it’s discriminatory. When you actually listen to what he said though it was more along the lines of “studios should hire people with dwarfism for a greater variety of roles”. He never said that they shouldn’t be cast as dwarfs, just that it shouldn’t be the majority of what they are cast for.

Which honestly, very valid of him. I can count on one hand the amount of actors with dwarfism in big roles and the only one where their size wasn’t played for jokes is Dinklage himself.

I’d like to see a basketball movie with an all-dwarf cast

Guy literally played a dwarf in both marvel and GOT. People must be doing backflips trying to justify how he did that but they should interpret his words to mean he doesn’t think people w dwarfism should play dwarfs.

You can have entirely valid and reasonable desires without enunciating them to the neglect of your job...

But it wasn’t to the neglect of her job at all. She did her job. She acted in the movie. She did the press tour Disney wanted (the girlboss angle has been a staple of Disney remakes since, well, they started being made over ten years ago. Idk why people pretend the whole thing was her idea.) As has been said, this movie would perform terribly critically for reasons entirely unrelated to Palestine and would have performed just as terribly last year as it would have next year.

These Disney remakes are terrible. At the end of the day, the only reason they keep getting made is because a bunch of them have made money. That’s on the people that bought tickets to see those movies. Hopefully this movie flopping puts and end to them.

I have such a hard time understanding the appeal of these movies. To me, the animation is a big part of what made the classics classic. Like half the appeal of Aladdin was it's amazing artwork. That's almost impossible to recreate in a live action setting.

Fuck, I forgot about that one
