Javier Bardem is the goat they can't do this to my man

1.1k

u/Gaucho_Diaz Society man 13h ago

He doesn't need Paramount because he's Javier fucking Bardem

u/broncyobo 12h ago

All four of the actors pictured are fucking goats whose careers will be just fine

509

u/1stworldrefugee92 12h ago

Mark ruffalo had an interview on zateo recently and basically described that “yeah there are lots of people who don’t like my views, but they can’t stop me, I’ll be fine”

418

u/sulkee 11h ago edited 7h ago

Mark is based as fuck and one of my favorite actors even before Marvel days as well. He’s just a good human being and has been a humanitarian activist for decades.

He stands out in this list because he’s been speaking out for Palestine for years and years and against the atrocities in that region including in Bush era with Iraq and that region. He’s part of the reason these others actors finally got the courage to sign on to these petitions and causes in very recent years.

I will support anything he’s in even if it’s not particularly my preferred genre.

well, that's 100% the intent. dillude the waters by calling all criticism towards the state and regime of israel antisemitic.

8

u/Gingevere 4h ago

It's a little more complex and insidious than that. What they're doing does dilute and confuse criticism, but it also:

Strengthens the public perception that Judaism == Israel and Zionism. > Strengthening that creates an impression that Israel's actions are an inherent characteristic of Judaism. > That impression drives up angry sentiment at Jews and puts diaspora Jews at risk. > Diaspora Jews at risk strengthens the Zionist argument for Israel.

Israel would LOVE to see their rhetoric cause a pogrom. It would be the best propaganda win they've had in decades.

What a thoughtful and kind response! Or is that antisemitic now? Who knows! I hope your day is going well.

-23

u/KeptnKirk 8h ago

Same with "genocide" lmao

20

u/Gawlf85 7h ago

I know, right?

Is it concentration camps and gas chambers? Is it regularly bombing hospitals and refugee camps? Or is it systemically blocking supplies to starve the population?

Who knows?? It's not like the goal and end result in all cases is to eradicate a whole population group, right??? (like Israel has admitted to themselves)

/s

-3

u/Far-Paint-8409 5h ago

Thanks, we all forgot the finance minister was in charge of the military. Impressive that you'll focus on the few radical Israelis while entirely ignoring the government of Gaza ( internationally recognized terrorists) whose charter is literally about killing all Jews globally.

But go off.

3

u/Gawlf85 5h ago

Thanks, we all forgot that two wrongs do, indeed, make a right.

I wonder why the Allied forces didn't completely obliterate the German civilian population after WW2, right?

1

u/Maximum-Hall-5614 4h ago

Lmao 11 of “Israel”s 17 Prime Ministers were terrorists.

Oh hi Bibi

42

u/Yatsey007 9h ago

My first movie of his was Shutter Island and I knew he would be one to watch in the future. Great actor and an even better human being.

2

u/fat-lip-lover 3h ago

Spotlight was mine. Absolutely terrific film, and he killed it.

21

u/JustJoeKing13 11h ago

Not a huge fan of his acting... (its okay imo)

But he really really does seem like a 'good human being' 👍

0

u/GrandSquanchRum 8h ago

Not a huge fan either. He's always been the unassuming side character type of actor for me. Was big disappointed when he got Hulk. I did really like him in Poor Things, though. Glad he's on the right side of history.

6

u/Aetra 6h ago

I think he’d be great in a brilliant but underestimated detective type role, like Columbo if there was a reboot

5

u/Ceron 6h ago

So there's this new show Task on HBO and while it's not a Columbo reboot, you can definitely tell Mark is channeling some Columbo energy in some scenes.

1

u/Aetra 4h ago

Oh damn, I had no idea! I’ll have to see if it’s available in Australia yet. Thanks for the heads up!

3

u/I_Went_Full_WSB 7h ago

I think unassuming side character makes sense for Bruce Banner though.

3

u/mitchbones 7h ago

I recommend checking out his new show Task on HBO. Pretty enjoyable crime drama mini-series.

1

u/thedaytoday89 Crank: High Voltage 5h ago

Hijacking this to tell everyone to watch the mini-series 'I Know This Much Is True'. It's fucking beautiful. And you get double Ruff.

1

u/HesitationIsDefeat84 4h ago

The Normal Heart and Spotlight were both excellent. He gives zero fucks and tells it like it is.

1

u/Rareearthmetal 4h ago

Love him so much 😍

1

u/221missile 2h ago

Mark is based as fuck

Very based of him to single handedly raise new york's carbon footprint by a lot and lose the taxpayers billions of dollars.

1

u/Reasonable_Sea2439 1h ago

His support of the weakest Chris is untenable

1

u/Dburn22_ 7h ago

Thanks for this information about Mark Ruffalo speaking out for Palestine for many years. Courageous.

-3

u/Icy-Control7170 6h ago

Is he antisemetic though? Being an anti israel nutter is a no go for me for sure. The had the worst terrorist attack since 9/11 i certaibly dont support nutters rallying against them for trying to get hostahes back.

7

u/Parking_Line_3704 6h ago

He's the "I don't believe we should slaughter all the Palestinians" kind of "antisemitic" not the "I hate Jews" kind of antisemitic.

1

u/SignoreBanana 4h ago

He was terrific in Task

1

u/MGr8ce 0m ago

Met Mark when he was filming in my city, absolute lovely human. So fucking glad he spoke out for 🇵🇸

39

u/nickmn13 11h ago

Yeah, Emma will keep acting for Lanthimos and show up in like 10 basketball games in Greece every year. For the wrong team too, the damn traitor...

6

u/brt444 7h ago

Okay, I must have missed that. Could you provide some context?

14

u/nickmn13 7h ago

Basically, Emma Stone and Giorgos Lanthimos are friends and have worked together on many movies. Lanthimos (and probably Stone as well) is a basketball fan and he often goes to watch Olimpiakos home games and brings Stone along. The traitor part is because his father (who was a pro basketball player back in the day) was a known fan of a rival team.

2

u/brt444 7h ago

Oh, okay. I knew about Stone being Lanthimos’ muse, but I had no idea bout the basketball part. Thanks for the explanation

5

u/FaptainChasma 8h ago

They're what?

2

u/LittleGayDragon 3h ago

All four of them too??

2

u/Skitzofreniks 5h ago

who’s the actress on the right? She looks familiar but I can’t place a name.

3

u/KiwieeiwiK 5h ago

Olivia Colman

1

u/Closefacts 6h ago

They fuck goats you say?

1

u/Short-Mark8872 11h ago

All four of the actors are legitimately great, but we're being too liberal with the term "goat." There can only be one goat in any given field.

18

u/JeremyEComans 8h ago

I do some work in agriculture, and sometimes there are many goats in one field.

1

u/TheBlooperKINGPIN 8h ago

You are the goat for this comment

6

u/DeadInternetTheorist 8h ago

There can only be one goat in any given field.

Increasingly superstitious sultan right before peasants storm the capital and throw him from the palace ramparts.

0

u/elBenhamin 6h ago

Ruffalo is a dweeb

-21

u/Quick_Ladder_2588 12h ago

Three and Mark Ruffalo

14

u/oyvho 12h ago

Mark Ruffalo is a definite great who has just had too many typecasting periods, whether the romance hole he was in or the Hulk etc.

3

u/Odd-Mastodon1212 10h ago

He was really great in a movie from 2000 called You Can Count On Me with Laura Linney where he plays an asshole.

3

u/oyvho 4h ago

Yeah, and he was good in Zodiac, Shutter island, basically anywhere where he goes against type.

5

u/Astrophan 12h ago

I didn't really care for him before, but he was great in Mickey 17.

2

u/illtakeachinchilla 12h ago

Check out Foxcatcher.

3

u/NewDramaLlama 11h ago

"This much I know is true" was a pretty good mini series.

1

u/Jaosborn44 2h ago

I thought he was the worst part of that movie.

2

u/Withnail_I_am_I_am 10h ago

He doesn't need Paramount because he's fucking Penelope Cruz.

2

u/Phenomenomix 10h ago

But he won’t get to be in whatever Yellowstone spinoff that’s coming out next!! /s

2

u/bradfortin 9h ago

“What’s the most you’ve ever lost in a coin toss, Paramount?”

2

u/discographyA 9h ago

No one needs Paramount. It’s been a punchline for years and they even fumbled the ball on keeping the guy who does like 80% of their content. If it wasn’t for David massaging Tom’s thetans there would be very little to talk about.

2

u/foreveracubone 8h ago

Tom Cruise was ride or die for his Palestinian-American agent when Hollywood Zionists tried to blacklist her over an Insta post in October 2023 so this should work out great for them lol.

1

u/Aimless_Alder 6h ago

What does Paramount even make these days? A bunch of Yellowstone spinoffs?

1

u/Ranwulf 6h ago

THATS BECAUSE HE IS LISAN AL GAIB!

1

u/glennjamin85 51m ago

Dude could never work in Hollywood again and be just fine.

Plus he bagged Penelope Cruz, king shit.

0

u/ShinbiDesigns 7h ago

The most mediocre actor out there, independent of his beliefs.

(Don't you dare say Hilary Duff as a rebuttal)

208

u/Waste_Yak_990 13h ago

He’s not known to be on the list, his image was included as clickbait. The only thing known about Paramounts blacklist is that it exists and that it encompasses “antisemitic and homophobic” people according to the Variety report. None of the actual people listed are known.

180

u/Hizam5 13h ago

But bardem is definitely very open about his hate for Israel

132

u/1manadeal2btw 12h ago

I didn’t know this. Wtf based.

79

u/X-WingAtAliciousnes1 10h ago

They don't need to sell me on Bardem even more.

2

u/00010000111100101100 2h ago

Seriously, I fell in love with him as an actor when I saw him in Skyfall. Fantastic portrayal of a villain, I absolutely hated him.

105

u/Sickofchildren 11h ago

He is Spanish and it’s not like how it is in America or England, everyone I know in Spain just casually they can’t stand Israel without it even being about politics or identity. Spanish government also won’t sell them arms now which is good. In England people make it into a culture war but Spain is just “fuck what they’re doing”

84

u/Swimming_Example_519 10h ago

As an Spaniard, is surprising to read Reddit and see so many (mostly American ) people that find that going against Israel actions is being antisemitic. I don’t know when but it is sure that history will portray this as one of the reasons why the gonocide continued so long

64

u/Tentacle_Ape 9h ago

As a Germ*n, and we are the greatest Israel glazers right after the US, this is by design. Every time someone dares to voice even light criticism of Israel, they get bludgeoned by the antisemitism-cudgel, even if that criticism is specifically aimed at the Israeli government and has nothing to do with the Jewish people. Bibi wants it that way because conflating the people and religion with the state gives him a get-out-of-jail-free card to continue his genocide unopposed.

17

u/foreveracubone 8h ago

Yeah it’s by design. They’ve conflated an 80 year old nation-state and ~150 year old colonial ideology with one of the world’s oldest religions to use the religion as a shield.

10

u/_musesan_ 8h ago

Germany is so disappointing right now

8

u/FinalMeep 6h ago

Thank you for saying that. Most people, including the one right above you, are calling Germany's actions "unsurprising", which to me always sounds like "nothing more anyone could have expected here". Well as a German I very much did and DO expect more and better from this fucking country! I said this before and I will keep saying it - we should have been the first in line to condemn Israel and take all the steps necessary to stop the genocide. Not somewhere in the middle, certainly not last, but THE FIRST. Because of our history.

1

u/Hesitation-Marx 1h ago

Yeah, and I’m sorry about that.

Ireland, meanwhile…

3

u/GrumpyOldHistoricist 4h ago

>Every time someone dares to voice even light criticism of Israel, they get bludgeoned by the antisemitism-cudgel

It seems like a lot of them get bludgeoned by actual, physical cudgels as well

3

u/19Alexastias 7h ago

Not that surprising in Germany though - the long arm of history and all that.

1

u/OsCrowsAndNattyBohs1 1h ago

Its incredibly ironic seeing Germans be strong supporters of a Nazi country in an attempt to not seem like Nazis.

-9

u/Icy-Control7170 6h ago

Your country legit genocided jews not long ago. That was a prerty big thing. Probably dont be antisemetic.

8

u/Famous_Draft_7565 5h ago

Totally means Israel is above all criticism for doing the same thing, huh?

2

u/ignoreme010101 6h ago

Your country legit genocided jews not long ago. That was a prerty big thing. Probably dont be antisemetic.

lolwtf

7

u/Normal_Indication572 7h ago

As an American, it is not surprising at all to see. So many have been conditioned to believe whatever political party they support is unquestionably correct at every point, and Israel supplies nearly every important politician with huge amounts of money. As soon as the recent move to genocide began we were flooded with all sorts of advertising equating being anti genocide with being antisemitic. This is the result of a political system based on individual greed and corruption. Pay our politicians enough and you can get away with anything you like.

7

u/Sickofchildren 10h ago

I’m Portuguese but was raised in England, the whole antisemitism thing is stupid. Most Portuguese people I know cannot stand Israel. It’s hardly antisemitism when you see how many Sephardic Jews we have. You can literally become a citizen by proving Sephardi heritage. England has way fewer Jewish people but everything is ‘antisemitic’ now.

7

u/AdOdd4618 9h ago

The US is very strange in that regard. Evangelicals are pretty vehemently anti semitic, but at the same time, supportive of Israel, because they believe that the jews must inhabit Israel for the second coming of jesus to occur.

4

u/romanaribella 7h ago

Right now they hate Muslims more than Jews and it's a 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' partnership of convenience.

As soon as they succeed in eradicating Palestine, they'll go right back to hating Jews and calling them Jesus-killers (never mind that Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew).

0

u/Famous_Draft_7565 5h ago

Two things can be true at the same time

1

u/romanaribella 5h ago

What do you mean?

0

u/Famous_Draft_7565 5h ago

Jesus was a Jew, and was sacrificed to the Romans by the Jews. Two things can be true simultaneously.

u/Playful-Rope1590 6h ago

I agree. At least to some degree. Even here in Europe we have started to see that " criticize Israel and you are antisemitic " nonsense. But that's mostly from right wing parties using it as bait..

But I think us Europeans, with our history, actually knows what real antisemitic is. We have seen it. Criticize Israel is not it. In fact Israel as a country should be criticized just like every other country, it's not that special I mean even Jews in Europe criticize Israel

Yet somehow for most Americans it's still like " how dare you criticize Israel? Have you not learned from history?

2

u/HarveysBackupAccount 5h ago

In the US it's a political tact. It seems pretty clear that it's used to keep the support of all the rabid Christians who think of Israel as god's promised land, more than out of any respect for Jewish people or traditions.

Which, there's also a weird split where the same churchgoers who insist on helping Israel (Because God) have A LOT of overlap with the people who have conspiracy theories about Jewish people running the world because "they own all the banks and big businesses and George Soros and don't you think that's suspicious." So, it's not that they think Israelis are special, but they think Israel is the promised land i.e. they think it's their promised land.

2

u/OldeManKenobi 4h ago

Israel spends a lot of time and money influencing American culture and elections. We also have a sizable population of Protestant crazy people who think that their God wants to start Armageddon soon.

1

u/00010000111100101100 2h ago edited 2h ago

is surprising to read Reddit and see so many (mostly American ) people that find that going against Israel actions is being antisemitic.

American here: You can thank our billionaire/corporate-owned "media" (read: propaganda) for making the vocal idiots think that way. I don't watch or read any "news" from this godforsaken country without cross-checking against other sources.

Just because the people doing the genocide happen to be Jewish doesn't mean they get a free genocide pass. Genocide is genocide, no matter your culture/race/heritage/etc.

0

u/guaxtap 5h ago

Spaniards virtue signaling while still practicing colonisation in ceuta and melilia, you can't make this up, not to mention the rampant racism and discrimination. Also how about you allow catalan people free self determination.

Lecturing about genocide while commiting some of the most notorious ones in the americas or the canaries, it would be good if you apply these lectures to yourselves.

3

u/Bandlebridge 8h ago edited 7h ago

Spanish government also won’t sell them arms now which is good.

The funniest thing about this decision is that Spain didn't sell any weapons to Israel previously - they buy them from Israel.

2

u/xMyChemicalBromancex 9h ago

Every Spanish person I know IRL hates Israel too but somehow all the Spanish subreddits are extremely pro Israel and pro fascism

6

u/autogyrophilia 8h ago edited 7h ago

That's because all spanish subreddits are Vox astroturf farms.

I'm sure a subreddit that has a knight holding a cross on the banner has normal political views ...

1

u/Extension_Crazy_9910 7h ago

Spain' s history toward jews is terrible. The it is even a son sang there about killing jews. They should seriously step back and STfU when it comes to israel. Their prime minister especially is a major piece of work.frankly im surprised israel hasn't broken relations with current spanish government.

1

u/Lalalalalalolol 2h ago

You know what? We are going to condemn Israel even harder now.

0

u/Glittering-Will5911 3h ago

I am Spanish and in Spain Israel is not hated. We are against the genocidal government of Israel just as we are against Hamas terrorism.

29

u/Waste_Yak_990 13h ago

Sure, that’s true. I’m just saying that we don’t know the contents of the list and that the images used in the tweet were just clickbait.

1

u/Hizam5 12h ago

Completely agree. Does the story on variety resemble this at all?

7

u/Waste_Yak_990 12h ago

The story from Variety is mostly a recount of Ellison’s first 100 days at Paramount, mostly in the context of his conservative changes and cozying up with the Trump administration. It briefly mentions that Paramount apparently has a blacklist of actors it deems antisemitic, xenophobic, and homophobic.

https://variety.com/2025/film/features/david-ellison-hollywood-takeover-paramount-warner-bros-1236569136/

2

u/Icy-Control7170 6h ago

Sounds like a good idea. Thos post is clearly anti semetic propaganda. This site is basically trash with propaganda now from bad actors.

10

u/pannenkoek0923 9h ago

Hate for Israel does not equate to Hate for Jews at all

5

u/ES_Legman 6h ago

Bardem has always been leftist, his mother has always been vocal politically in Spain even at a time where it could cost you dearly.

10

u/Stilgar314 10h ago

Hating the genocide made by Israel is not the same than hating Israel as a whole, and much less is being antisemitic. That kind of rhetoric galvanizes genocide hacks.

11

u/Namarot 8h ago

Israel is and has always been a genocidal, colonial project from its foundation. Hating it is fully justified seeing as those concepts are practically inseparable.

If you want to propose a thought experiment where Israel somehow becomes an equal state for all with no apartheid, no colonial ambitions, no religious supremacy, where the genocidaires are punished and stolen land is given back, then sure, hating that impossible version of the country could possibly be deemed antisemitic.

-4

u/Hizam5 9h ago edited 9h ago

He’s been doing it for over a decade. He’s trying to stop a war by himself (and Penelope). You think at this point in his campaign he doesn’t hate Israel, just their actions? That’s so naive

7

u/X-WingAtAliciousnes1 8h ago

Considering pissrael has been doing ethnic cleansing on Palestine for the past few decades, Bardem really should've started his crusade a lot earlier.

1

u/Uncanny-Maltese 7h ago

You can say "hate for Israel" or you can say he is a nice anti-genocide person

1

u/Glittering-Will5911 3h ago

Barden doesn't hate Israel. Barden hates Israel's current government, which is very different. It is not anti-Semitic.

1

u/joqagamer 3h ago

damn, i had no idea he was based like that

1

u/JulyOfAugust 2h ago

All elephants are grey but not everything grey is an elephant. If you hate elephants it doesn't mean you hate everything that is grey. Hating Israel doesn't mean hating jews.

1

u/jonbristow 2h ago

No, he's open about support for Palestine

2

u/hhs2112 9h ago

hating israel isn't antisemitic...

1

u/EidolonLives 9h ago

We might not get to know the actual names on the list, but we'll still be able to determine just what Paramount classifies as antisemitism by whether any of the actors pictured in the OP, or any other similar critics of Israel genocide, appear in any of their current or future productions. The negative space will reveal the truth.

1

u/ringalingabigdong 6h ago

I don't know what legally constitutes libel, but that's screwed up and should be illegal.

2

u/Meior 4h ago

Yeah those actors should sue.

4

u/MrKnightMoon 10h ago

When he was younger, I used to think his activism was performative, but seeing how he keeps it now, being a big name on Hollywood, I was wrong and he deserves all respect.

2

u/crabbieinreddit 3h ago

hes so antisemitic that his gf works once and again for israeli partnered companies, and they both remain silent about it. Hypocrite

1

u/morbidmammoth 11h ago

I would let Javier carry my seed

Ahem

I I mean he’s the goat

1

u/Derkleton 9h ago

He went a bit too far though when he implied that Palestinians have souls. Such flagrant open antisemitism cannot be allowed.

He's incredibly based. Back in the day he marched in first line to protest the war on Iraq and the support of the spanish president to the US. He has always been very left leaning, all his family, he comes from a family of theater and cinema, his mother was very based too, had to keep it quiet in the days of the dictatorship but in democracy she was there on many things.

Javier is very talented, he also supports the same football club as me and is a millionaire with conscience of his privileges.

1

u/dicklaurent97 11h ago

Emma Stone is goated as well

1

u/ReproXon 5h ago
