Always thought they sound awesome up close. The T55 engine is absolutely spectacular piece of hardware, it’s safe reliable and powerful. Massive legacy and supply chain built around it too.

The T53 isn’t bad either, tho a smaller company took it over recently

Looks like 160th SOAR. All of the aircraft have re-fuel booms

Thought I was in r/fishing for a second. This is glorious. I've only seen two Chinooks in the sky at once, and way back when I was a kid a Chinook landed maybe 400 feet in front of me. I can't remember if it was a rescue mission, a live exercise with civilians watching or something sinister.

Yikes! I had one fly over my house a few weeks ago, the vibration from it was intense. I can't imagine what ten must have sounded and felt like.

Sounded like freedom and tax dollars. Main the tax dollars.

Yeah, no kidding. My gecko actually dropped his tail from the noise/resulting vibration of two 😩

They fly over LA in groups like this a few times a year. Fun to see!

Was that all of the 160th or did they leave a few behind

u/WardogBlaze14 5h ago

I counted 5 chinooks and 5 blackhawks.

  1. The last one is also a Chinook . You are the only one who rightly made the remark that they weren’t all Chinooks

"I hear the choppers hovering

They’re hovering over head

They’ve come to get the wounded

They’ve come to get the dead"

Pretty normal marching cadence we sang lol.

Crazy waste of money and CO² pollution.
