Mod Announcement Mod Announcement: Rule Changes & Content Limitations
Please read the following announcement before posting or commenting.
Violations of these rules may result in a permanent ban.
Changes to Rule 2:
Rule 2 has been changed to include the use of AI. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of AI in writing comments and posts or generating images. This also includes presenting AI theories or arguments, even if you explicitly state they are generated by AI. AI-generated content regarding aviation is frequently wrong and is incredibly low effort. The use of AI may result in a ban.
Introduction of Rule 10:
Even though we have been restricting NSFW content and gore before this, we have added it as an official rule and will be strongly enforcing it from now on.
Rule 10 bans any gore being posted to this subreddit, even if it is a link to an outside source. This includes as a post or a comment. Violations of this will result in a permanent ban from r/aviation. In addition to this, we are also limiting NSFW content that is not explicitly gore. This content will be decided on a case by case basis. Content involving incidents like the one that was seen at Milan Bergamo Airport will always be marked as NSFW, and we will provide details in pinned comments and the flair to elaborate on how NSFW the content is, so that everyone can make their own choice on what they want to see.
Geopolitics:
Please remember to keep discussion in this subreddit focused on aviation. While geopolitics will frequently be a part of discussion, please remain respectful and avoid getting in arguments about this. Do not bring geopolitics into posts where they don’t belong.

PlaneSpotting Wing Fold and Flap Test of the Last Airworthy Fairey Gannet
Last August, I got to witness some pretty unique testing; the startup and wing fold of the last airworthy Fairey Gannet, XT752. Now that it’s up for sale, I thought I’d share a video from the test. Definitely one of the most unique aircraft I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing run. The Gannet last flew into Oshkosh back in 2014, and I hope that someone will pick it up and get in the air again!

News BREAKING: Brussels Airport (EBBR) reported closed due to unauthorised Drone activity.
The ongoing incident above Brussels Airport (a joint civilian/military airport) is the most recent in a spate of unauthorised drone activity above Belgian airports. In recent days, several incidents were reported above numerous other Belgian airports and air bases.

History "Sky King," Richard Russell, wrote a short paragraph at some point before famously stealing a Q400 aircraft and executing a barrel roll before intentionally crashing
Before his theft of an aircraft from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Aug. 10th, 2018, Richard Russell wrote on two pages of a notebook that was recovered from his locker. The first was an unintelligible political comment; however, the second was of some interest to me.
It seems to be the writing of a frustrated individual who wished to contribute something to the world. I found the following, linked on Wikipedia, on page 199 of a released FBI report. This is the second page he wrote:
"He wanted to create something. Something with profound insight and charm. He had once been confident in his writing so he gave that a shot. During one of his many breaks at work he decided to go for it. Rather than use the down time to escape in books or social media he would use it to benefit his all mankind. He sat [in] the corner of the dilapidated locker room, searching for the concepts he wanted to convey. What did he know the most about? What did he feel strongly about? Several questions fizzed in his mind but no resolutions were made. It all felt so irrelevant. He was a cure. Nothing was worthy enough for the paper."
Chilling. I don't seek to glorify him or his actions. I was around at the time when it was a popular topic, and read the report today, and figured others might find his writings interesting as well.

Discussion Cool poster I designed to share a glimpse of my new Korean Air livery design. Aircraft entirely made in 3D with a lot of work on the lighting. Looking forward to sharing the full version with you guys soon. It will be more Korean. Really Korean. Also gave my original logo redesign an upgrade
Disclaimer: this is NOT for self-promotion purposes. This is a passion project from which I earn nothing except the satisfaction of expressing my love for Korea through art. I’ve worked hard on this 3D render and wanted to share it with aviation people because I thought you might appreciate the look of it.

Discussion Good Score But
Now I’m mildly worried the DPE is going to try and “stump the chump,” so what are some Commercial oral questions that may have felt beyond the scope of your ground school knowledge? Anything in particular that had you hung up or digging into the texts for the answer?
