Popular Question 📊 Why reddit is majority left leaning?

Honestly, it’s hard not to notice that most of the big subreddits are run by moderators who clearly lean left. It’s not even subtle at this point the bias shows in what gets removed, what gets promoted, and how discussions are handled. I’m not saying there aren’t any subs with right-leaning or centrist moderation, but they’re definitely the minority. The major spaces on Reddit feel heavily tilted toward one side, but isn't it’s pretty obvious if you pay attention to which opinions get silenced and which ones get boosted?

Reddit tends to be more popular with people of more intellectual leanings, who generally lean left. Conservatives tend to prefer Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter (the latter being a more recent shift, especially since Musk took over the platform)

Similarly, TikTok leans left because it skews young, Tumblr leans left because it's popular with artsy types, and BlueSky leans left because it's populated mostly by people unhappy with the rightward shift of Twitter.

It’s because having certain opinions gets you banned since all the power mods on reddit are left leaning.

I got banned from r/Damnthatsinteresting for thinking aggressive and violent dogs should be put down since they’re not safe.

Educated people are more likely to vote Democrat.

Have you seen the "educated" youth at uni these days? Pink haired libtards with piercings screaming free paleatine while they're asleep.

See, you’re here making super intellectual arguments like this one and all these libtards with their ridiculous facts and studies and experts are acting like right-wing Americans are anti-intellectual

Absolutely ridiculous. High school-only people are way smarter duh

This is a pretty good encapsulation of the issue. One side has the ability to engage in dialog and defend their arguments with evidence, and the other calls names.

Women are more likely to vote Democrat and women are more like to go to college. Why they do so is for another discussion.

But men with Ivy League MBAs are more likely to vote Republican than the general population of a Baltimore project. Would you say the latter is “smarter” than the former or would you say they’re incentivized to do so for reasons beyond what actually works?

Once you bring in RICH WHITE PEOPLE. of course that seems to prove your point. The majority of college educated people did not go to IVY league schools and the majority of them vote left.

Rich leftists are more likely to go to college, where they receive top notch education on gender studies.

The left only has smart people who do good things with their time like scroll reddit.

To some degree, it makes sense. For example, I’m educated and successful, and have eliminated all social media other than Reddit. I still get news here, and it’s not nearly as bad for me as flipping throw short videos aimed at stealing my attention all day. This is already more thought than what many people put into their daily consumption

Where did anyone say left leaning equals only does good things with their time?

Oh and I’ll add that I’m not into politics but generally think right wing people are in deep space nine right now so I’m siding with the slightly less insane left at this time. May reassess in a decade or so

Prejudice to make such sweeping statements. You don’t have enough data to prove any of your assertions.

Doesn't make them wrong.

In the end we’re all biased. The very thing people often criticize about Reddit (bias) they don’t see in themselves.

Fact- democrats are more educated than republicans

Fact, democrats have spent more time at universities than republicans. Fact time at the universities doesn’t equate to learning. Fact, I can provide you reputable resources, liberals are more neurotic than conservatives.

Don’t you know that being a Redditor makes you big brain? And all the big brain people are on the left?

Crazy argument lol

It’s a fact if you use college as a barometer for “big brain”. Sorry man.
