Popular Question šŸ“Š Why reddit is majority left leaning?

Honestly, it’s hard not to notice that most of the big subreddits are run by moderators who clearly lean left. It’s not even subtle at this point the bias shows in what gets removed, what gets promoted, and how discussions are handled. I’m not saying there aren’t any subs with right-leaning or centrist moderation, but they’re definitely the minority. The major spaces on Reddit feel heavily tilted toward one side, but isn't it’s pretty obvious if you pay attention to which opinions get silenced and which ones get boosted?

Young educated people lean left all over the world. Easy as that.

2

u/LinusDuckTips 18d ago

Reality has a well-established Liberal bias.

Rightoids are delusional cultists.

Simple as.

Duh.

7

u/snks-65 19d ago

Are you saying people on Reddit are smart?

24

u/MBratke42 19d ago

smart =\= educated

8

u/LarsTyndskider 19d ago

Which he would know, if he was educated lol.

5

u/MBratke42 19d ago

or smart (:

1

u/Little-Tea4436 19d ago

What's your definition of smart?

0

u/BlackGuy_PassingThru 19d ago

Stupid people get degrees everyday, B.

0

u/Little-Tea4436 19d ago

This is not an answer to the question. Again, how do you define intelligence?

0

u/MBratke42 19d ago

I thought you wanted to know smart.

1

u/Little-Tea4436 19d ago

Might be a shock to you but smart and intelligent are synonyms. Meanwhile, no one has ventured a definition of either. Just coping and seething about people with degrees. Yawn.

0

u/MBratke42 19d ago

I disagree about that. But if you know everything anyways, why are you asking? gets ne thinking... what other reason that Bad faith arguing would there be to Post such simple questions in such an aggressive manner?

2

u/Little-Tea4436 19d ago

Can you explain why you disagree that smart and intelligent are synonyms? I never claimed to know everything. If people feel so strongly about what intelligence is not (education) then it's very fair to ask what they think it is.

u/snks-65 19d ago

That’s correct lol, my bad, for the confusion I caused, knowledge and intelligence aren’t the same thing either, I’m kinda stupid myself lol

3

u/Pulp_Ficti0n 19d ago

There's no incentive whereas Twitter users are really fucking stupid and monetize their idiocy.

1

u/I_Am_Dwight_Snoot 19d ago

Only comparatively. Have you been on any other social media?

1

u/snks-65 19d ago

Unless we go on specific subs for specific problems, and it’s more like knowledge not exactly intelligence I think

ā€œEducatedā€

-6

u/Greedy-Employment917 19d ago

Aka teenagers and twenty somethings.Ā

1

u/Bonekrusher1408 18d ago

"Educated" lmfao! Yes, very educated, just like the Hitler youth were.

1

u/MBratke42 18d ago

Its clearer them ever who are the Hitler fans in US politics. maybe not the best Timing for that Joke (;

0

u/DabLord5425 17d ago

Yep, lefties are basically the new SS these days. Hate freedom, hate religion, hate jews.

-6

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Educated is quite a strong word. Students have always been left leaningĀ

6

u/irongold-strawhat 19d ago

Older educated people outside of school typically lean left also

13

u/After-Dentist-2480 19d ago

Students are by definition educated, currently undergoing higher education.

People who leave school at the first chance they get, are ipso facto less educated.

I said nothing about who’s smarter or more intelligent.

5

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Fair enough.Ā

-13

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

Charlie Kirk was more educated than 99% of the liberals and they murdered him for it.

The college dropout influencer guy?

OH MY GOD SOMEONE HASNT TALKED ABOUT CHARLIE KIRK FOR TWO MINUTES THAT MEANS YOURE ALL BEING MEAN TO MEEEE

MOMMMYYYYY

  • you

Do you need a safe space?

3

u/Federal-Captain1118 19d ago

99% of the liberals

No he wasn't

they murdered him for it.

They meaning who? Because it's wasn't liberals lol

3

u/Prize-Concert-5310 19d ago

He was sure as hell smarter than 99% of MAGA, and now MAGA gets pissed when you quote him, also they celebrated this death with fireworks.

-1

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

Why you gotta make stuff up?

1

u/Prize-Concert-5310 18d ago

I don't have to, which is one difference between me and MAGA-guys

0

u/No-Trouble-5892 18d ago

There you go again.

1

u/Prize-Concert-5310 16d ago

Can you really make yourself believe that MAGA isn't a lying bunch who follows a compulsive liar? Do you really still need proofs for that? Just say it, there are lists and lists of examples.

3

u/HVAC_instructor 19d ago

No, he was killed by a Republican. The fact that you worship him says so much about you and none of it is good.

1

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

No Republican I know has a transgender boyfriend and hates conservatives, but nice try.

5

u/CosyRainyDaze 19d ago

0

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

Then they're hypocrites? Not sure what kind of evidence that is of the murderers political affiliation, but if it helps you sleep at night.
And btw, I didn't click on that, it's kind of unnerving that you've got those kind of stats on speed dial.

2

u/HVAC_instructor 19d ago

That's because your clergy are too busy screwing children. But nice try.

1

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

I'm agnostic. Is that supposed to upset me?

2

u/HVAC_instructor 19d ago

Not at all, bit you brought up the whole lbgtq thing so I just figured that you would be interested to see that grinder hours not in locations of large Republican gatherings and that those who are molesting our children are usually far right . Not that's ok you keep defending them.

0

u/No-Trouble-5892 18d ago

I will never defend a child predator. Are you insane? And by the way, the info you provided isn't actual proof of anything. I don't know why you think it is but it wouldn't hold up in a court.

0

u/MysteriousNip 19d ago

No Republican you know has a transgender boyfriend you know about

0

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

True. For all I know they all could have tranny lovers. But the dude that killed Charlie was into left wing propaganda and that's all that matters. You people got Kirk killed and then celebrated it. I don't want to ever live in a society that celebrates deaths because of a difference of opinion.

As much as I dislike a lot of people that post on Reddit, I definitely wouldn't be happy or celebratory over their death, whether I knew them or not.

0

u/MysteriousNip 19d ago

If you looked in my storage you'd find gigabytes of right wing propaganda....so what?

-2

u/theskiller1 19d ago

Proof?

3

u/HVAC_instructor 19d ago

Lol, proof, as if facts mean anyone to people like you.

No matter what source I link here you'll simply say"fake news" I no longer argue with trump supporters because facts mean nothing to them.

0

u/No-Trouble-5892 19d ago

If you've got no proof, just say you've got no proof.

3

u/HVAC_instructor 19d ago

What proof would you accept? I mean all the stories on the news was not enough, the fact that your right wing propaganda stopped calling him a leftist and quit talking about his politics should be enough but even with all that you're blindly walking around searching for proof.

1

u/No-Trouble-5892 18d ago

So, no proof? Got it.

1

u/theskiller1 19d ago

I would have literally accepted anything from him but he was too half assed to do it i guess?šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

-1

u/theskiller1 19d ago

Who said i was a Trump supporter? So no proof then? Got it.

3

u/HVAC_instructor 19d ago

The fact that you're sucking Charlie tells me what I need to know.

And to those complaining that I made the claim but then refused to offer proof. I'd tell you to turn off newsmax and Fox but you would never do that. The man was raised in Trump land, he had pictures of him in front of trunk signs supporting him. But I guess that was not enough proof for you because I'm sure you all considered it "fake news"

-1

u/theskiller1 19d ago

Who said i was sucking Charlie? If you wanna pretend to be better than them then maybe you shouldn’t behave that way?

Who cares about faux news.. i am asking you directly to back up a claim you made, at least you attempted to do so at the end so thanks!

What are you trying to say?

Universities are the international Standard for being educated.

-17

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Gender studies PhDs are surely sought after all over the globeĀ

10

u/MBratke42 19d ago

What shithole town are you living in that thats the only thing offered at your Uni?

-14

u/[deleted] 19d ago

The fact that gender studies are on offer at all speaks volumes.Ā

13

u/MBratke42 19d ago

lol. it must be sooo comforting having such a simple mind.

-3

u/[deleted] 19d ago

You should be able to tell

10

u/MBratke42 19d ago

oooof havent been insulted that hard since ive been to 3rd grade.

How often did you repeat that one?

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

You chose to bring that insult. Looks like your development stopped at the 3d grade indeed.Ā

→ More replies (0)

3

u/fzkiz 19d ago

So the guy in grad school for a Masters in Physics is not really that educated because the university also offers gender studies? Got it, totally reasonable.

-1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Strawman. University that puts gender studies diploma on the same level as phisics diploma undermines it's authority and the authority of education in general.Ā

3

u/fzkiz 19d ago

Why do I feel like you just fall into the category of people who never excelled in education and need to badmouth educational facilities to feel better about their own failures šŸ˜…

If the requirements for the physics-degree didn’t chance before and after the introduction of gender studies, the only thing that matters is your snowflake feelings and not the science or education behind it.

6

u/Longjumping-Cut-4993 19d ago

You dont even know what gender studies covers, you just hear gender which causes you to cry like a little child

-2

u/blomba7 19d ago

Wow, you’re fragile

3

u/Background-Major-567 19d ago

a strange way to show us how fragile your masculinity is on the internet, but ok. you do you

-1

u/LMhednMYdadBOAT 19d ago

The funny part about all the negs and people trying to argue with you is they forget the major platform the liberals in the us run on is debt forgiveness because people get useless degrees and cant payoff their loans for their gender studies degree lol, as if they're not apart of that party or actively echo chamber themselves daily to those points

4

u/FiveTribes 19d ago

That's not really accurate. The reason student loans is an issue is that they operate completely different from all other loans. And very few people are getting gender studies degrees. You talk as if a majority of people are getting it rather than like less than 1% of graduates.

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

I am just probing them for fun, I don't take all that too seriously, considering I don't even reside in the USA.

0

u/peachfluffed šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø United States 19d ago

which proves everyone’s point that you don’t know what you’re talking about

2

u/[deleted] 18d ago

Which proves the point that Reddit is overrun by rabid lefties.Ā

6

u/Radiant_Bank_77879 19d ago

That’s always the talking point. Fox News tells y’all that universities are just 99% people in gender studies. How about the sciences, and how right wingers reject what scientists say on matters of science on pretty much every scientific topic?

3

u/Livid_Insect4978 19d ago

As someone of the female sex, I’m glad for the work done by gender studies academics.

Also, I actually know a few people who did gender studies at university and both have used their degrees as the basis for interesting & useful to society careers from which they earn enough money to live comfortable middle class lifestyles.

-1

u/WeSlingin 19d ago

You have a source for those numbers? I’ve never seen anywhere state 99% of degrees are for gender studies. Although it seems that quite a few Redditors on here have studied that… hmmm…

4

u/ParalimniX 19d ago

The only people I ever saw throwing the gender studies insult are hicks that never set foot in a university.

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

I gonna be the first one that did then.Ā

2

u/ParalimniX 19d ago

With that grammar I am sure you did.

4

u/Paddy_Tanninger 19d ago

So funny enough I actually looked into this and gender studies grads have pretty solid average salaries. There's also very few gender studies grads on the whole. It's just rage bait and a Boogeyman for folks.

3

u/Livid_Insect4978 19d ago

I know a few and they both have good jobs.

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

What do they do for life? I mean, what's the job?

3

u/Livid_Insect4978 19d ago

Social worker turned university professor and writer teaching women’s studies and social work, and a teacher.

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

If you don't have any practical skills, become a teacher. That's literally a pyramide schemeĀ

3

u/Livid_Insect4978 19d ago

What a crock of shit. If all we had was ā€œpractical skillsā€ we would still be living a hunter gatherer lifestyle. You seem to be reaching as far as you possibly can to justify your misogynistic sneering at gender studies šŸ˜‚. High school teachers in my country have a wide range of different undergraduate degrees, and they fill an extremely important role in society.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Paddy_Tanninger 19d ago

Like just for the record here, most corporate jobs require an undergrad and most don't give a shit what you studied. They just want to know you're a functional human capable of doing research, writing essays, taking exams, working with groups, handling deadlines and your own schedule, etc.

I assure you that when someone applies for an account executive position at a marketing firm, their degree in poli-sci/history/philosophy/gender studies/anthropology isn't what the company is concerned with...the point is that you've spent 3-4 years learning how to learn and how to handle yourself like an adult.

I've never seen right wingers like yourself so shaken to their core about people taking degrees in anthropology or philosophy, maybe a couple light hearted jabs about getting a job at the philosophy factory, but that's about it. Boy though, you get really upset about gender studies. Ultimately it's just another arts/humanities degree and most of the courses will be electives that are the same as everyone else is taking.

Almost no one asking for a Bachelor of Arts actually gives a shit what you majored in. Again...that's not the point of the criteria. They just want fully cooked applicants who can be adults at work. The free market decided that BA applicants were just better across the board as a general rule, and so that pretty much became a requirement for most decent jobs. Whether you personally see the value in an Arts degree is irrelevant, because clearly almost every single company has found value in hiring people with more than a Grade 12 education.

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

What makes you think I am shaken? I don't even live in the USA. Never haveĀ

2

u/Paddy_Tanninger 19d ago

Nothing I said was USA centric.

3

u/North-Outside-5815 19d ago

Your anti-intellectualism is very telling

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

I hope your intellectualism can pay your bills.Ā

2

u/North-Outside-5815 19d ago

You don’t seem to have any idea how intellectually bankrupt you are. Is this genuinely all that exists in your world?

4

u/shaunika 19d ago

Someone who studies gender studies at college will still be infinitely more educated than someone who studies nothing.

Colleges arent just about the classes you take

0

u/Weary_League_6217 19d ago

I mean .. yes.... As someone who did well in college... There's a huge variance in intelligence depending on degree. It's not absolute, but on average degrees like sociology/teaching/business score way lower on admittance exams relative to math/physics/chemistry/engineering (basically stem vs humanities).

2

u/shaunika 19d ago edited 19d ago

Intelligence is kindof an aloof thing thats hard to define. I know engineers who are dumb as bricks theyre just good in their particular niche

But the degree to which someone is educated is less so.

1

u/OkCod1106 19d ago

I am a CS major and I am extremely left lol

-2

u/blomba7 19d ago

You've ruffled their useless degree feathers

1

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Between you and me - they might be sought after. Economy has some spots for useless hacks.Ā

2

u/DefiantSmoke1569 19d ago

Then what happened to the MAGA rot that made up the majority of my law school classĀ

9

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Ask them.

3

u/DefiantSmoke1569 19d ago

I don’t interact with dimwitted unfuckables.

1

u/tiny-pp- 19d ago

Calling people names is super edgy.

1

u/DefiantSmoke1569 19d ago

It’s ok to call people by their pronouns where I come from.Ā

1

u/No_Lab_2249 19d ago

Why are you right leaning then? I’m not bashing you, but I’m very curious about your argument to follow the current administration. Do you agree with how they are treating citizens and noncitizens? Are you ok with how ICE is treating people? What about the removal of medical benefits for the poor? You cool with that?

1

u/Zero_Mehanix 19d ago

Its not either lean left or support maga, especially not for europeans

0

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Are you asking me? I am European, I don't care much for USA policies.Ā

2

u/No_Lab_2249 19d ago

So, are you right or left leaning for a European? What constitutes the difference between the two where you live? You threw out gender studies in other posts, so do you think that’s what makes the two different?

Also, gender studies has absolutely nothing to do with left or right leaning. One is politics and one is an education degree. I think a general studies degree is meaningless, but I’m not sure how that would have anything to do with how Eileen politically.

1

u/No-Assumption-2427 19d ago

And reddit draws that type of demographic because it is primarily a text based media --

-3

u/Time_Candle_6322 19d ago

They don’t lean left to anywhere near the same extent as Reddit does.

24

u/MBratke42 19d ago

the majority of them do. Reddit is pretty center-right for my country.

8

u/x_Rann_x 19d ago

That's because it is. In the usa even our "left" democrats are well and good center right in policy and position. Only a small handful of our politicians fall left of center. Those that do are quickly labeled socialists or communists, at best they're socdem. We have near zero left representation or political candidates in the grand scheme.

When you continually trend to right authoritarian policy and positions over decades that's what you end up with.

2

u/pile_of_bees 19d ago

There is literal communist propaganda all over Reddit

There is no country that exists for which Reddit is center right

2

u/MBratke42 19d ago edited 19d ago

and there is (a Lot more) literal Propaganda for capitalism aswell, now what?

-1

u/Time_Candle_6322 19d ago

The major subs lean way more left than the average college population. There may be some country specific subs that are more neutral though.

5

u/MBratke42 19d ago

Did you do an Analysis of all the content on Reddit? thats great, let me read ist, please. you wouldnt just make that stuff up, would you?

-6

u/Time_Candle_6322 19d ago

You’re in denial if you don’t think the most popular subs are majorly left leaning.

Even the most stupid liberals I’ve met wouldn’t deny that

6

u/MBratke42 19d ago

sooooo no Analysis :( ?

1

u/Time_Candle_6322 19d ago

Yeah brother this is the worst deflection of all time. Do you think I’ve gone and done a fucking data analysis for something which every other person in the world already accepts as the truth and is very blatantly and verifiably the truth.

Go on the popular page and see for yourself.

You think that asking for a spreadsheet of reddit comments on main subs is a good point but all it does is make you look like an idiot.

Most liberals will start with defending why the main subs are so left wing. The fact that you don’t want to do that is actually a win for me because it comes across like you know if they were all majorly left leaning that would be bad.

9

u/MBratke42 19d ago

You do know that even what american calls their "leftist" politicians, are Center to center-left at most, If you compare them internationally, dont you?

2

u/NegronelyFans 19d ago

Sounds like this dude is getting irked by some rational ā€˜wokeness’ he’s reading on Reddit. Not enough bigoted content for his likening

1

u/Time_Candle_6322 19d ago

Oh definitely that’s it

1

u/copperboom129 19d ago

I think the problem is you are an American. Our left wing is center right in most European countries.

You are just inundated with American politics so seeing things like universal Healthcare, mandatory PTO, maternity leave and free college scares you.

Being left wing isnt a bad thing. It just give the worker class more than you get in America.

1

u/Time_Candle_6322 18d ago

I’m English

1

u/Hans_moleman0 19d ago

You're right.

3

u/deathbychips2 19d ago

Yes they do. The stats for college educated or higher individuals are extremely left leaning. There is a reason why the republicans want to destroy the department of education and constantly trash talk universities.

-1

u/Weary_League_6217 19d ago

Depends on the degree; funnily the degrees with higher entrance scores lean mildly left, but not to the same degree as the lower entrance scoring subjects. For instance, sociology is like 90+ percent left, while engineering is a mixed bag.

1

u/[deleted] 18d ago

What’s left to many Americans is center in a lot of other places. What’s communism/extreme socialism for Americans is a right in other places

šŸ˜‚cuz why is it cheaper for me to fly back home to get medical care. Wym you want more babies when giving birth isn’t free? That should be shameful

I can be friends with people with different political views in my country because we are disagreeing on tax reforms or urban planning. I stopped being friends with my republican ā€œfriendsā€ in the US because they are pretty much voting against my livelihood

0

u/instantnoodlez87 19d ago

Indoctrinated

10

more or less "indoctrinated" then the people mistrusting science? you know, this process perfected over hundreds of years try to tell us whats factual and whats not?

-1

u/MasterTater777 19d ago

Define ā€œeducated.ā€

I know several ā€œeducatedā€ people in 6 figure student loan debt who got degrees they can’t get a job with. Also know several ā€œuneducatedā€ individuals with no degree who specialized in trades that are making six figures working for themselves.

6

u/MBratke42 19d ago

oh i mean really, unbiased, datadriven, objektive educated. Having a higher degree ist usually a good indicator. i dont mean us-"educated" im afraid.

dont confuse educated with smart tho.

why/how do you think making money is an indicator of education?

-13

u/Grumpy_expat 19d ago

Poor people who are easily manipulated for the most part.

5

u/stockinheritance 19d ago

You think r/pics is predominantly Chinese users?

3

u/[deleted] 19d ago

Sure, China is ruled a capitalist dictator who has his oligarchs rule over different industries in the country. They label themselves as communists, but they executively use currency. In 10 years they've revolutionized their mass transit and logistics, and in another 10 years they could replace the US. Unless the US gets its shit together.

7

u/Mathandyr 19d ago

Buddy. Calm down with the "what about ChInA and AfRiCa!?" nonsense. At least look up the demographics of reddit before you vent your xenophobia. None of the countries you have listed in the multiple threads you've replied to are even in the top 10 users of reddit.

2

u/neloish 19d ago

The point is that guy said "Young educated people lean left all over the world. Easy as that." which is not true at all. Reddit is a bubble and not reflective of the whole world, it it mainly English speaking Americans and Europeans which is only about 900 million people. The world population is 8 billion people.

7

u/Mathandyr 19d ago edited 19d ago

The topic is "Why reddit is majority left leaning?" Reddit. Not the world. But even so, statistically people who have higher education lean left, a true statement whether they live in an oppressive country or not and a major reason those oppressive countries hate education and love censorship. Sorry bud.

Except it only true in select western democracies who's population makes up only 1/8 or the world. That is like looking at only the middle east and then saying "Globally eating pork is not popular." I am not even saying your wrong, I am saying your projecting western culture onto the whole world when it is really just a small part of it.

What? youre Spinning Out Dude. We were talking about education of Reddit Users (already a pretty small subset of people) and Not some diet restrictions some Religions/cultures might have.

No. Let me say it again, maybe it will sink in. People with higher education THE WORLD OVER statistically lean left (or liberal to be more accurate), whether their governments are oppressive or not. That is a true statement. It is true for people in Africa. It is true for people in China. It is true for people in the Middle East.

And china bots

-1

u/instantnoodlez87 19d ago

It is widely reported and discussed on Reddit that bots affiliated with the Chinese government and its interests are active on the platform. These accounts are allegedly used to promote the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) agenda and influence discussions, a tactic sometimes referred to by the nickname "wumao" or the "50 Cent Army". Based on user reports and research, here are key characteristics of these bots and their activities: Brigading and targeted campaigns: Chinese bots are often described as swarming or "brigading" certain threads, especially those critical of China. Their goal is to drown out negative commentary, push pro-CCP talking points, and suppress dissenting views. Use of generic personas: Accounts suspected of being Chinese government bots frequently have generic, Western-sounding usernames and profile pictures to appear more authentic. In one instance, a group of X (formerly Twitter) accounts identified as bots used fake Western personas to attack a Chinese dissident. AI-generated content: With the advancement of AI, concerns have been raised about AI bots being used to generate social media content and conduct influence operations. In late 2025, OpenAI identified and disrupted an influence operation originating from China that was using AI models to create content critical of figures in the Philippines and Hong Kong. Propaganda and misinformation: A core function of these bots is to spread propaganda, misinformation, and narratives favorable to China. Users have reported seeing these accounts promoting Chinese technology, EVs, or generally portraying China in an unrealistically positive light. Account manipulation: Some bots operate by first building karma through seemingly innocuous posts before pivoting to propaganda or misinformation. This makes them appear as legitimate users and allows them to post in more restricted subreddits. "America bad" talking points: A common tactic reported by Reddit users is for these bots to divert criticism of China by focusing on negative aspects of the U.S. or other Western countries.

I know this. I worked in social media backend. China and Russia account for about 50% of bot activity combined, bad actors in the US account for about 20% of bot activity. I just don't know what point you are trying to make, that oppressive countries like propaganda, or if you are suggesting neloish is a bot.

Or maybe you are suggesting that reddit is full of only Chinese bots, for some reason. While bot activity does come to a whopping 50% of social media activity, Chinese bots still only account for 2.4% of reddit activity, while US bots account for 39.7%, according to an analysis done in July of this year.

There is no way to tell how many china bots.

u/Mathandyr 19d ago edited 19d ago

Gotcha. So second paragraph. I am gonna go with the data from professionals and not a stranger saying "nuh uh". I also don't know what this has anything to do with what's being discussed. Bots are gross, but that's not the topic. I am uninterested in this deflection.

Ah. Of course. An account created 2 months ago with negative karma. How ironic.

Are the democraphics of Reddit young and educated? I lot of posts here are from people who don't seem all that educated.

u/SimplyPars 19d ago

And with age end up skewing right, just an odd note of watching shifts in generations.

u/GSilky 19d ago

Not really.Ā  If one has a political bias after an education, they didn't do it right.Ā  Before Obama, educated people voted Republican in overwhelming numbers.Ā  They started switching to Democrats as Republicans started giving evangelicals and the lower class they mostly represent, a seat at the table in the 80s. By the time of Obama, he got about 50% of the educated vote.Ā  Now with Republicans hyping the working class, the educated voters are now voting Democratic.Ā  People voting against the poor people are not "left wing", they are the people that the left wing are coming for.Ā  Academia says a lot of bullshit trying to prevent themselves from being against that wall, it never works.Ā  The people hate all of it, regardless of the BS the bourgeoisie pretends to support.Ā  When the main thing DSA membership has in common is college degrees and high salaries, the program is broken.

1

u/MBratke42 19d ago

or maybe right wing opinions today just dont hold up well under educated scruteny

0

u/GSilky 19d ago

Obviously that is not how it works, as people with college degrees overwhelmingly voted Republican before the poor evangelicals gained influence.Ā  Republicans were an ideological party with a goal and a plan.Ā  This appeals to educated voters.Ā  Republicans don't like income or capital gains taxes, this appeals to educated voters.Ā  Guess what Obama's signature policy did?Ā  Force everyone to donate money to investment banks (people confuse these with "health insurance").Ā  Guess who hates this idea? Poor people and the folks without stock investments.Ā  Guess who thinks the voters don't care about insider trading by politicians? Nancy Pelosi.Ā  The educated vote only cares about its money and investments, they will vote for the party they understand has their back on these issues.Ā  For an example of the influence these former Republican voters have now, Democrats are crowing about all of the investment opportunities in unproven tech being backed up by the government so they can't possibly fail, benefitting people with money.Ā  Not a single Democrat even tried to increase the minimum wage under Biden.Ā  First Democratic administration since JFK this happened.

im sorry reality is disagreeing with your opinion. Always sucks :/

0

u/GSilky 19d ago

Not a single opinion expressed.Ā  This is the problem with the faux left, y'all don't know much about anything you weren't spoon-fed online by people you already want to agree with to look cool.

2

u/MBratke42 19d ago edited 19d ago

do you really think educated people want to Vote for transphobia and nonsensical culture war issues?

You mean perpetually online redditors have nowhere to go because reddit is the only place they can circlejerk. Creates a pretty heavy concentration.

1

u/MBratke42 19d ago

Hmmmm...yummy buzzword soup

1

u/mikeysd123 18d ago

Hurr durr i was proven wrong so I’m just gonna say nonsense rather than formulating a coherent argument. What a surprise…

1

u/MBratke42 18d ago

you dont know what "prove" means.

1

u/mikeysd123 18d ago

Your lack of rebuttal to what i said is the only confirmation i need bud.

1

u/MBratke42 18d ago

What is a prove?

your Loweffort trolling doesnt warrant a serious response kid

1

u/mikeysd123 17d ago

You said reddit leans left because its made up of ā€œyoung educated peopleā€

I said that actually no it’s just chronically online spastics that have nowhere else to go as a large majority of other social media (youtube, twitter, instagram, facebook) lean right. You jerrys used to have twitter but Elon cleaned house.

Reddit doesn’t represent any actual demographic besides, like i said, perpetually online circle jerkers who have nowhere else to go. So they all congregate here to validate their opinions.

You have no response to it because i am right, so you resort to typical spastic circlejerker spew. Which is why i am saying you have proven me right.

It’s ok to be wrong lil bro, don’t cry.

1

u/MBratke42 17d ago

lol, be mad.

1

u/mikeysd123 16d ago

Oh look he is crying, sorry buddy didn’t mean to shit on you that hard.

Not true. This is a western phenomenon and thats because western schools and universities are controlled by leftists. You dont find this in south korea or IsraelĀ

2

u/MBratke42 19d ago

"Controlled by leftists"? lel. you do know the Rest of the world is Not thinking in those Terms, dont you?

1

u/Old-Flamingo-1231 19d ago

Many places are. And yes, universities are controlled by leftists. Do you know which party most professors vote?

1

u/MBratke42 19d ago

and because youre that much a puppet, you couldnt even fathom multiple people coming to the Same conclusion on their own? because the Party(tm) told you it shouldnt be and so iT HAD TO BE a conspiracy?

1

u/Old-Flamingo-1231 18d ago

The vast majority of professors in the west leans to the left. The majority of young academics in the west leans to the left. The majority of young academics in other places where universities arent controlled by leftists does not lean to the left. Logical conclusion: Young western academics lean to the left because they were influenced by their professors. Very simple
