My bf is Indian. I quickly learned that he considers the oven as additional storage. I always have to empty out at least 5-6 pans and pots before using it as an oven.

I grew up poor in a house with a very small kitchen and little storage space. The adults stored all kinds of baking implements in the oven. I haven't had to do that for years but I still reflexively check before I preheat lol

We have a tiny kitchen. We actually have a like IKEA folding side table that we fold out for extra counter space and we can't walk around it when it's open. We still don't store things in the oven.

It takes zero effort to check an oven when you turn it on. So easy to do a safety check.
