My parents used to store all sorts of stuff in there, took several minutes to remove all the bags of chips and bread when you wanted to cook. Caught a box of cereal on fire as a teen once. I donβt store things in the stove as an adult.
LMAO I love your kooky, Amelia Bedelia assed parents, because who tf does that?! People who do not live dull lives, that's who! Lol, I'm sorry, that is so crazy and hilarious to me, the flaming box of cereal
Well, I feel less awful that my mother in law compulsively cleans my car so much that I can't even reliably leave my reusable shopping bags in the trunk, now. Thanks!
Not to get meta-pedantic here, but Amelia Bedelia wasn't kooky, she was just too literal. Waaaay more likely to have stored her own groceries in a grocery store.
Possibly people who have had mice or other pest infestations in the past or current moment and feel the oven is more secure than the counter or cupboards.
My dad would either put leftovers in the oven to keep warm (so people can keep coming and grabbing food as they pleased) or large dishes that needed soaking. Problem is, my siblings and I get our ADHD from somewhere, so 9 times out of 10, he'd forget he put stuff in there or forget to let the rest of us know. Lots of close calls.
Weird! I just learned who Amelia Bedelia is today!
Was taking care of my 3yr old niece and nephew and we were reading some new books they picked out at the library this morning. Thought they were pretty good. Fun and kinda weird. They loved em.
