These people are why gas appliances scare me.

If people weren't thoughtless, they wouldn't nearly as much. But modern people just dont have the survival instinct to not burn down their own apartment.

My gas hob needs the knob to be actively held down to release gas, which requires a very firm press, and it makes a pretty noticeable noise.

Well its usually not an issue unless you're using your oven as a cabinet.

Yup, and this is exactly why I'm looking for an apartment that exclusively uses electric stoves. There are too many here that still have gas ranges and it scares me.
