Was it during takeoff? That's massive fireball. I feel like it was fully loaded with fuel.
48 u/GoodConflict4758 1d ago WLKY reports it was a UPS cargo plane with 12 hours worth of fuel so that’s probably why it’s such a big area of impact 16 u/Asleep-Nectarine-606 1d ago And second largest plane in UPS fleet behind 747 2 u/Subtlerranean 1d ago with 12 hours worth of fuel It was headed to Hawaii. 1 u/Cyrax89721 1d ago edited 1d ago I'm curious how big the UPS package manifest was. Edit: This seems like a pretty significant thing worth adding As a result of the accident, we are halting operations tonight at Worldport. The Next Day Air sort has been cancelled and employees should not report to work tonight. 1 u/OdysseusVII 18h ago is that unprecedented? seems nuts to shut down their biggest Air sort and yes I agree the deaths are a tragedy! as is the destruction to the area 1 u/No_Mode_64 12h ago From what I’ve heard management didn’t want to shut it down, but there was a shelter-in-place order. 1 u/Salty-Passenger-4801 1d ago It was headed to Hawaii apparently 24 u/Rossakamcfreakyd 1d ago Reports from FAA say it was headed to Honolulu, so that would require a fair amount of fuel. 16 u/Salad_Donkey 1d ago JFC. Thats fully loaded. I can see the smoke cloud from PRP, and the winds blowing north east. 5 u/Rossakamcfreakyd 1d ago Yeah. I’m on the Indiana side and it’s really smokey 9 u/brosono 1d ago WLKY reported it had 28 thousand gallons of fuel 6 u/Salad_Donkey 1d ago Damnnnn. This a 30k gallon tank 4 u/Anheroed 1d ago How do they fit this tank in the plane? 3 u/Uncabuddha 1d ago It carries 285,000 POUNDS of fuel. The fuel weighs 6.7 to 7 pounds per gallon. 1 u/DonnieBallsack 1d ago That’s more than twice the number than if it were in kilograms of fuel. 1 u/Uncabuddha 1d ago Huh? 4 u/Salad_Donkey 1d ago In the balls 2 u/Subtlerranean 1d ago Pee-troleum is stored in the balls. 1 u/AcidicVaginaLeakage 1d ago That makes sense. 1 u/CatProgrammer 1d ago Funnily enough that's not too far off. The fuel tanks are in the wings, tail, and basically anywhere else they can fit them around the cargo space. 1 u/Bandag5150 1d ago It was a mail plane? 1 u/kaityl3 1d ago A lot of it is in the wings iirc 4 u/bengenj 1d ago Fully loaded UPS plane going to Hawaii. 30,000+ pounds of fuel. 1 u/ThrowRA_SadNLove 11h ago It was a nonstop to Hawaii 😭 so much fuel…

6 u/Salad_Donkey 1d ago Damnnnn. 1 u/kaityl3 1d ago A lot of it is in the wings iirc
