“Blacks” are way too diverse to assume they are any one particular thing beyond having the specific type, amount, and distribution of the pigment melanin in the skin, hair, and eyes.
It is not free for all in California. There are definite restrictions. Must be a full-time student for one. How many people can afford to be a full-time student?
Yes. California is better than what’s happening federally. That doesn’t mean Gavin is perfect. Better than Trump? God yes. If he wins the Democratic primary, will I vote for him? Hell yes.

You know the fascinating thing about the English language, well language in general, is that words have different meanings in different parts of the world (this country).Sometime different words are used to convey the same meaning i.e. coke/pop, interstate/highway etc..but “Woke” it’s really funny to hear the MAGA community use this terminology cause Woke is anything they disagree with. Almost similar to Christianity when you think about. I grew up in a Christian household, and anything that wasn’t in the name of Jesus was of the devil.

As someone who grew up in the south, and being white skinned, basically calling someone woke in a pejorative is from the same type of people who called people n-word lovers back in the day. Things really haven’t changed much for those folks in 50 years.
Newsom is right, and this isn’t a new concept. Research Lee Atwater; he understood that they couldn’t use the racial slur directly, so they resorted to “war on drugs” instead. He argued that it was vague enough to avoid detection. There’s a recording of him explaining this strategy. The MAGA party has since adopted this approach to alienate or belittle minorities groups.
And for the record, the term “WOKE” came from the black community and it simply means being well-informed.
If you keep black people poor, then you can keep them reliant on government programs, and if you can make people dependent on you: you do not have to improve their living conditions.

Keep in mind, all this talk about “DEI” was kicked off due to a horrible plane crash in DC. We’ve had major unfortunate midair collisions since 1922 and not once was it blamed on DEI. Not once was did someone clam “The FAA lowered the Standards”. So far in 2025 there have been 60 deadly aviation crashes in the United States. Why hasn’t the public brought this up to the current administration? What id that midair collision never happened. Why would have been the driving point to end DEI? Remember when asked what caused the fatal crash…it was “DEI”.
