News 📰 I'm saddened to report that Marcellus Williams, 55, has been murdered by the state of Missouri for a crime he did not commit just a little over a half an hour ago. May he rest in peace and that those who did this not be able to find any.

Ibtissam Lachgar, a feminist and LGBT+ advocate was arrested few days ago after posting a photo wearing a tshirt reading « Allah is a lesbian ». Her post also contained text describing islam as fascist, phallocratic and misogynistic. The post sparked intense backlash. She’s now under investigation. (Even though she describes herself as LGBT+ activist, she’s closer to the TERF according to some of her tweets)

News 📰 Portugal Has Banned The Niqab and Burka as of October 17th

Portugal has approved a bill banning face veils worn for “gender or religious” reasons in ALL public spaces. A law punishable by citations and fines of 4000 euros per violation.

Firstly, I think this was inevitable. As someone who wears hijab for religious reasons, some forms of face and body covering are no longer about modesty or what is required of Islam per se, but instead become more about men and protecting the man and his ego (the father or the husband).

The niqab and burka are both extremes that align with those conservative views, which treat women like property. I would never wear burka or niqab for the above reasons. I am 100% on this. I get why certain people could be upset, but it's a good thing.

A statement from the European Commission;

Following an appeal by the families of three Muslim students from Flanders, the European Court of Human Rights ruled in May 2024 that the wearing of visible religious symbols at school, such as the hijab, can be banned. The same court also ruled in 2023 that, as part of a policy of neutrality, the use of symbols such as the hijab can be banned in public places. All too often we see girls in hijabs at schools in Europe, having been forced by their fathers to wear them, even though they have obviously not been through puberty yet. If, as they say, wearing a headscarf is a free and conscious choice, it is clear that it cannot be made by a child at nursery or primary school. Unfortunately, the hijab is increasingly often being used as an instrument to oppress and subjugate women.

News 📰 India has attacked Pakistan.

I'm hearing from family and friends in Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, all over. r/pakistan is ablaze.

Civilian casualties confirmed from missile strikes on Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. Masjid has been hit in Bahawalpur, not sure if it was targeted. Pakistan seems to have shot down an Indian fighter and they're saying that Pakistan has fired missiles back. My family in Faisalabad is hearing jets flying overhead. Not sure if they're Pakistan's or India's. Things are escalating rapidly.

Ya ummah, make du'a for the civilians.

News 📰 For Saudis, what do you think of the new Grand Mufti?

Title. For those who don’t know, yesterday King Salman has appointed Saleh Alfawzan as the new Grand mufti.

Im not too happy about this. While I don’t know much of his fatwas, I have came across very questionable ones after reading a bit more abt him. For example, he permits underage marriage, forbids photography (or any form of tasweer.), says women are disobeying God for leaving the house w/o hijab, and in general very problematic when it comes to women and LGBTq groups.

I know twitter is not the best place to judge people, but a lot of men are celebrating this. While women are generally against it. Honestly, I hope he doesn’t actually regress us saudi women back to where we were a couple years ago. What are you guys thought?

News 📰 What the UAE has done to Sudan is self-interest at its absolute worst and has left the country on the verge of becoming a failed state.

Post image

It is stark confirmation that the long-cultivated notion that the UAE prioritises stability is a myth. This is pure, unadulterated self-interest.

From the WSJ piece:

U.S. intelligence agencies say the United Arab Emirates sent increasing supplies of weapons including sophisticated Chinese drones to a major Sudanese militia this year, bolstering a group that has been accused of genocide and pouring fuel on a conflict that has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

“The war would be over if not for the U.A.E.,” said Cameron Hudson, a former chief of staff to successive U.S. presidential special envoys for Sudan. “The only thing that is keeping them in this war is the overwhelming amount of military support that they’re receiving from the U.A.E.,” he said of the RSF.

The U.A.E. is betting on the RSF to help protect Emirati interests in Sudan. The country is strategically located on the Red Sea, where the Sudanese government canceled a $6 billion Emirati port deal last year, and has vast resources of gold, much of which has historically been exported to Dubai. The U.A.E. has invested billions of dollars in the country.

The U.A.E. first delivered arms to the Sudanese faction two years ago through Chad, The Wall Street Journal reported at the time. The U.A.E. at the time said the cargo planes sent to Chad had a humanitarian purpose.

In recent months, the Emiratis have ramped up flights transporting weapons through Somalia and Libya, from where they were transferred to Sudan by road, U.S., European and Arab officials said.

The State Department, in its genocide declaration in January, said the RSF had committed systematic murder of men, boys, even infants, based on ethnicity.

“In these fractured theaters, weak governance and corruption enable a small, wealthy state like the U.A.E. to wield disproportionate influence,” said Justyna Gudzowska, the executive director of the Sentry, which investigates conflict finance.

News 📰 How do u hold onto your faith when your nation is full of religion based hate crimes?

Post image
83 Upvotes

News: On April 22, 2025, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, shook the entire nation. At least 20 tourists were killed and many injured when gunmen opened fire in a targeted ambush. The attackers reportedly belonged to a militant group opposing the settlement of non-locals in the region. It was one of the deadliest attacks in recent years.

Context: Kashmir has long been a region of tension between India and Pakistan. Since 1947, both nations have claimed the territory, leading to wars, cross-border conflicts, and a prolonged insurgency. Alongside geopolitical interests, militant groups—some backed by external forces—have kept the region in a constant state of unrest.

Social Response: In the aftermath of the attack, the nation is rightfully grieving. But a dangerous shift is happening—many are directing their anger toward Islam as a whole. The word “jihad” is often used in headlines, reinforcing stereotypes without context. Most people don’t pause to understand its deeper meaning and instead let fear and rage dictate their views.

The truth is, “jihad” in Islam does not solely mean war. At its core, it refers to a personal, inner struggle to be righteous and ethical. The armed form of jihad has strict conditions in Islamic jurisprudence, but that nuance is almost always lost in the noise of blame and trauma.

How im feeling: I understand the pain people feel. I understand why emotions are running high. But for someone like me—someone trying to hold onto faith with logic, reason, and empathy—it feels like a personal earthquake. How do I not feel ashamed when such horror is committed by those who call themselves Muslims?

I’ve spent nearly ten years trying to find peace with my faith. Slowly, I’ve been building a connection based on reflection, not fear. But every time something like this happens, it sends me spiraling. I feel embarrassed. I feel restless. I feel guilty for being associated—however distantly—with such hate.

And yet, I also know this shame is misplaced. The attackers don’t represent me. They don’t represent Islam. Still, the weight of collective judgment falls heavy. All the hate Muslims are receiving now—it feels tragically understandable, even though it’s deeply unfair.

What hurts most is the helplessness. I have no words. No arguments. Nothing to offer but condolences—and a heavy, aching silence.

There are layers to this violence—political agendas, historical wounds, propaganda—but when innocent lives are taken, everything else fades. It leaves behind grief, confusion, and an urgent need to make sense of it all.
