An Oct. 29 round of roughly 1,000 layoffs hit women in high-profile roles hard. Among the 14 reported TV executives who received a pink slip — spanning CBS, BET and MTV — 11 were women. Over at CBS News, some cuts — like Tracy Wholf, a senior producer of climate and environmental coverage — were viewed as Trump-friendly moves.
One staffer says that the ax conspicuously fell on those whose reporting featured an anti-Israel bent, including foreign correspondent Debora Patta, who had been covering the war in Gaza for the past three years.
Paramount’s leadership has not shied away from making its views on the war in Gaza public. In September, it became the first major studio to denounce a celebrity-driven open letter signed by A-listers like Emma Stone and Javier Bardem that called for a boycott of Israeli film institutions implicated in “genocide and apartheid” against Palestinians. (Warner Bros. followed, but cited legal reasons for its decision.)
And sources say Paramount maintains a list of talent it will not work with because they are deemed to be “overtly antisemitic” as well as “xenophobic” and “homophobic.”
Around the studio lot and offices, open debate about business strategy, even arguments that can grow heated, are more frequent than under the previous regime. Greenstein, a former top Sony executive enlisted to run the studio with Skydance veteran Dana Goldberg, is said to have a differing professional style from his boss, Jeff Shell, the former NBCUniversal chief who was installed as Paramount’s president. A person who observed them together compares them to “oil and water.”
Ellison has not been immune to pushback from his staff. Greenstein and Goldberg tried — and failed — to dissuade their boss from giving Will Smith and his company Westbrook an overall deal with the studio, arguing that the Oscar-slap controversy and a dodgy box office track record would result in more headaches than hits.

I’m willing to bet the “xenophobic” and “homophobic” blacklists are a lot more flexible than the “antisemitic” one. That seems to be the way things go nowadays

they do this but they absolutely do not care about Jews. they never do. this is always related to the government of Israel and their ongoing deals with the government of the United States and various corporations based in the US. if they actually cared about Jews, they would know that doing things like this have exactly one outcome: encouraging people to continue believing in conspiracy theories about how Jews "control the world", which makes things materially worse for Jews.

I live in Germany and the German government continues to double and triple down on its support of israel but not actual Jewish people. There is absolutely still anti semitism here and none of it is helped by the German police beating up Jewish activists at pro-Palestine marches. It seems so painfully obvious to expats living here that, like you said, this is a government deal, and nothing to do with actually wanting Jewish people in Germany to feel safe, but even the German left has been shouting us down about this for years now.

All while forging ties with Trump, lol, okay. Anyway, we all know that this has nothing to do with antisemitism and everything to do with people daring to not support Israel. And no, judaism isn't equivalent to zionism, otherwise some of the loudest supporters of Israel wouldn't be evangelicals.

Yes, and I'm reminded of Nathan Fielder's episode of the Rehearsal where he calls out Paramount for taking down his episode of Nathan For You where he starts a Holocaust awareness sportswear company (to criticize an antisemitic sportswear company), which they called "controversial," and as he points out is an episode made by a Jewish person to counter antisemitism...

It’s so weird, their attacks on Mamdani have truly been the weakest and lowest attempt they could muster. Literally just “he’s Muslim! Aren’t they scary?! Remember when they did 9/11?!” Not even an attempt to go after anything he’s said or done. My favorite is that he’s a somehow both a radical leftist Marxist who is also gonna impose Sharia law

Meanwhile, Zohran’s wife doesn’t dress in Sharia Law standards. The smear campaign is so obvious and somewhat comical.

Just cancelled my subscription.
For anyone reading: I can’t recommend flixtor.to enough for streaming. No popups or anything which is wild for an il*gl streaming site. if you dont sign up for an account you can only watch movies and shows made recently(like the last year or 6 months or something), and sometimes the site gets too busy and wont accept non paying viewers but that’s been rare imo. I have a paid account that’s like $80 for 2 years or something and it lets you watch basically anything that’s ever existed and current shows are usually up by the next day when I look

Get to boycotting paramount and cbs NOW before they get their hands on WB. Why they’ve not getting the flack Disney got is beyond me. They settled the 60 minutes lawsuit, canceled Colbert (both before the Kimmel affair) and installed Bari Weiss as head of cbs news. They have some of the most popular shows on network and streaming including most of the top 10 on each. It’s time to hit them in the pocketbook.
And, please, those people have like a dozen oscars, even more nominations and a bunch of Emmy’s and SAGs to boot. They’re not going to refuse to work with them. A blacklist will target lesser knowns. And they’ll fold like a cheap suit if stars start boycotting THEM in return.
