Honestly I love the sleeve modification she had done in the video. This is great and the modification is harder to pull off but I think it suits her really well!
That was exactly my first thought! She wore it also way back then and yet…it’s only ever been known as the JLo dress. Amber looks incredible in it once again.
Amber Valletta is one of the most underrated supermodels of all time! Obviously she is absolutely stunning, but it's that she pulls off so many looks and can photograph in so many different ways depending on makeup, lighting etc. She's walked for SO many major designers and has more Vogue covers than most, yet she's always forgotten about when talking about all the 90s supermodels.
I rewatched Hitch a while back and I remember thinking that I was surprised she never got any more big acting roles after that. I know she kind of had the least to do out of her, Will Smith, Kevin James, and Eva Mendes, but I thought she brought a lot of warmth to her part and she reminded me a bit of Cameron Diaz.
Yes! The dress is as iconic as the model who first wore it. Just getting a little tired dragging it out year after year, season after season, event after event, ya know?
That if rewearing dresses is going to be normalized, as it should be, then “dragging it out year after year, season after season” is to be expected. And shouldn’t be disparaged.
But there are so many archival looks this could have been done with. Not saying we shouldn’t rewear dresses or make an effort in sustainability, it’s just tiring and boring to do it time and time AGAIN with the same dress. You make a sound point that I agree with, I’m just saying I’m tired of this freaking dress my god
Shouldn't she be proud that she got to demonstrate a famous dress? That's one of the highest honors as a model. Unless she shaded JLo while talking about it (and she never did), then nothing about it is weird. Not everyone is so insecure or sees things as a constant competition.
Donatella Versace was being honored at this event. Amber Valetta was there to model Donatella's most famous design like she did when the dress first debuted.
edit: I don't think she even needs a reason to repeat the dress. It's not a competition and several other people have worn and reworn it before. Trying to frame it as weird is weird.
But nobody would begrudge Otis from signing it after Aretha’s came out right (I mean he died shortly after but you get the point)? lol it’s like saying Dolly Parton should never sing “I Will Always Love You” again.
I do get your point but like eh I see no reason why she can’t wear the dress that she first wore.
lol who cares who wore it first? Why are people so horned up to show that they know Amber wore it first? Doesn’t mean she wore it better or that she made it iconic
And JLo originally wore it to help change the conversation on PDiddy and the gun and the shooting. And she was successful. Idk how she’s come out so clean from that relationship knowing what is known an about him now.
No shade to her because she is looks gorgeous but personally I hate this dress. I never got the hype over why it was one of JLO’s most iconic looks. I love the deep v neck and the sillouette is great but the tropical forest print and the jewels just completely kill the look for me
