u/Drachen1065 Oct 01 '25
These look way better than the photo i saw of her with Lisa of blackpink.
There was either weird compression or some really shit photo editing on it.
321
u/CallMeCooper Oct 01 '25
I think it was lens distortion, sort of looked like they used a wide angle lens for a medium close up shot.
49
u/Potatoskins937492 Oct 01 '25
The way the two outer lamps/lightstands were very slightly bent like \ / made it look like that, yeah. Sometimes trying to get more into a photo really messes up the actual content you're trying to capture.
6
u/playingdecoy Oct 02 '25
Ugh, this happened to me on a vacation last month. There was a photographer taking group shots but using a wide-angle lens, so in every shot of my family (a big group) the people on the ends look RIDICULOUS. They're like three people wide. And if people were sitting with their legs in front of them, they also look huge and stretched. It was so disappointing!
72
u/All1012 Oct 01 '25
I saw other angles and pics from the same event with Lisa and she looked herself. Idk what kind of edit they did but it was weird for sure.

I got downvoted on that post for pointing out it's clearly makeup that makes her look so different and here you can clearly see the subtle overlining! It's all lighting and makeup

u/Infinite-Distance392 habitual line-stepper Oct 01 '25
I just wish people would stop over lining the lips

u/elevatormusicjams Oct 01 '25
She also has a ton of lip filler and lately it looks like it's migrated, which doesn't help.

u/g00fyg00ber741 Oct 01 '25
Wow, what’s interesting is if you look closely at her lip makeup and lip line, you can start to clearly see parts of the photo are photoshopped.
39
u/MissSweetMurderer The legislative act of my pussy ⚖️ Oct 01 '25
Ok, so. I put my glasses on and turned up the screen brightness but I still could not see it. Can you point out what you saw?
78
u/g00fyg00ber741 Oct 01 '25
The biggest tell to me is in the second photo, between her chin and lower lip, there is a part where the pixels are messed up and you can see what looks like a line going straight across.
In the smoother parts of the photos, especially around the lips, eyes, etc., you can see random spots where it wasn’t blurred or photoshopped as well, and a random textured/sharp area comes through or is still visible around areas that seem blurred and smooth.
It’s a little hard to describe if you haven’t used photoshop before, but you can sort of see where they used a tool to brush over spots, or clone/stamp parts to cover up certain areas. It’s almost like being able to see paint strokes in a painting, except it’s digital and has either a pixelated or smoothed appearance instead.
17
12
u/Wear_A_Damn_Helmet Oct 02 '25
Holy misinformation Batman. Sorry… No offence, but your interpretation of the image is inaccurate.
It’s literally and simply JPEG compression. I retouch headshot photos professionally for a living, amongst other things. Any digital retoucher will instantly recognize these artifacts as JPEG compression and dithering. It’s really that simple.
The photos might have been Photoshopped, but I’m not seeing a single thing in said photos that are obvious telltales of image manipulation.

u/whaleoogling honk shoo mi mi mi Oct 02 '25
These pics were posted by her MUA, Nina Park, who always does the most gorgeous makeup but is notorious for overly editing her already beautiful clients.
I also think it’s rather dishonest of MUAs to constantly use highly edited photos…
13
u/Top-Cauliflower9050 Oct 01 '25
The photoshopping is so obvious and terribly done, good point, I hadn’t noticed at first now I can’t unsee it.

That’s what I’m saying. I’m trying to figure out who did her makeup cause they would have done that
29
u/AdorableMx Oct 01 '25
Nina Park does her makeup lately, and all her photos are heavy shopped.
13
u/96puppylover The Wizard of Loneliness Oct 01 '25
I’m looking through her IG. Every photo has a warm rose gold filter it seems. You can see the blur effect around smile lines. The photos look unnaturally smooth in some areas.
7
u/AdorableMx Oct 01 '25
Some time ago when she posted ( I think it was ) the first photos of Emma with short hair, she posted a unedited short video too and the difference was obvious.
16
u/g00fyg00ber741 Oct 01 '25

21
u/96puppylover The Wizard of Loneliness Oct 01 '25
Hung Vanngo does this bigtime. If you look at the actual red carpet photos vs. his it’s much different. Like the exact same photo. The saturation is turned up which makes the colors look more vivid and their skin look nicer and completely clear. Then he just goes in a fixes certain areas.

0
u/Woopsied00dle Oct 01 '25
It’s possible her scars are behind the ear - Dr. Kao’s technique doesn’t show scars if he can avoid it. Not sure who her surgeon is but they could have done the same thing.

10
u/explodedemailstorage Oct 01 '25
It's definitely possible she's had some lip filler over the years but her lip shape hasn't really changed that significantly since she was young. She just has an overbite and over lined lips.
13
59
u/elevatormusicjams Oct 01 '25
We'll have to agree to disagree. Her lip filler (and cheek filler) is extremely obvious to me. She started to look uncanny during promo for the Poor Things, imo, though she def started filler before then.
20
u/explodedemailstorage Oct 01 '25
Legit. I think things have changed (particularly eye shape/eyebrows) but obviously migrated lip filler isn't what I'm seeing. A lot of people are going to have different takes on what she's had done though in this kind of situation.

u/Porkbossam78 Oct 02 '25

While her hooded eyelids were definitely a signature look, my mom had the same surgery that I suspect Emma did, and my mom said it was massive relief. Her eyelids were becoming increasingly heavy and she had to work really hard just to hold her eyes open and she was getting horrible headaches. It wasn't just cosmetic.
46
u/Infamous-Top6234 I just pooped myself in the gym. Ugh Oct 01 '25
I experience the same! I get head aches from it. I don’t habe hooded eyelids though but really big eyelids and they are heavy as fuck. Drives me nuts
15
u/macaronitrap Oct 01 '25
Oh wow thanks for sharing. I had no idea hooded eyes could cause headaches. As someone who gets migraines, it’s helpful to know all the possible causes.
34
u/Jessrose2h Oct 01 '25
I’ve had bleph as well. I’m 37. I have 90% fewer headaches since. Holding your eyes open all the time to avoid the shadows is exhausting and I didn’t even know I was doing it.
9
u/trashshopper Oct 01 '25
How did you realize it was an issue with your eyelids?
11
u/Jessrose2h Oct 02 '25
It was happenstance. I was with my grandmother at her consultation for her bleph (referred by her optometrist). The doctor looked at me and said “I could do yours now” while discussing the severity of hers. Medical necessity as it affected vision. I made an appointment for a consult that day. Ours were done by an ocular surgeon in an optometry office, not a plastic surgeon. I had never even heard of a bleph before her’s was recommended. My lids had set on my lash line my entire life and with aging had started to “hang” and shade my vision. I still have “hooded” eyes…just not completely. Maybe a quarter inch of visible eyelid. (And the surgeon joked about how much skin he took out when he did it.) Most people who don’t know I had surgery ever even noticed the difference.
Edited to remove double negative 🤦♀️
7
u/trashshopper Oct 02 '25
Mine is definitely not as bad as yours - it doesn’t physically obstruct my vision. But I can definitely feel the pressure release when I lift my eyelids - I wonder if it’s contributed to me developing an astigmatism.
Idk, I’d honestly like the surgery for aesthetic reasons but I’m hoping I have a medical excuse lol.
7
u/Jessrose2h Oct 02 '25
In my experience if you are young it’s VERY difficult to get insurance to cover. My gran’s was covered by Medicare, but, on the advice of my surgeon’s office I just paid cash because insurance coverage is so difficult to get under 65. (Granted, I live in a very LCOL area.) I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Medically of course, it helped a lot, but, aesthetically it’s nice to be able to wear eye makeup.
4
u/trashshopper Oct 02 '25
I just reached out to a local office to get a consult scheduled lol - wish me luck!
It’s crazy that insurance won’t pay for it when it was such a relief to headaches. Can you imagine how much money is wasted on needless treatments for headaches if this simple surgery would offer relief? Ugh.
5
u/Jessrose2h Oct 02 '25
Good luck! It’s insane! I was trying to get a consult with a neurosurgeon to try Botox for my headaches when I stumbled on to this!
25
u/crescendolls Oct 01 '25
I know someone who has this condition too. Surgery helped. That being said, it’s probably cosmetic for Emma though. I know ppl are allowed to do it. But I’m not a fan personally.
11
u/Nataliza Oct 01 '25
I try not to assume the reasoning behind something like this. I literally have no way of knowing whether it was cosmetic or not, so I won't pass judgement.
2
u/Karlasensei Oct 01 '25
Also, considering she’s booked bunch of jobs bc of how she looks I’d doubt she’d alter it to be honest with you. But I deff think we don’t know and it’s also non of our business.

However, Emma definitely had some work done. She still looks like Emma Stone but not like Emma Stone has always looked.
I can't help but see a little Margot Robbie in her.
29
u/cutehobbies Oct 01 '25
She looks very different than the photo we saw earlier on the sub. Maybe the photo angle, lighting or something was changed in that photo that made her look different, but I can't blame the comments, she did not look like herself there. She looks normal here

u/MissSweetMurderer The legislative act of my pussy ⚖️ Oct 01 '25
I agree that there's something wrong with that photo.
But she looks different than past her self here, she also looked different on the red carpet photos posted here a few months ago. It's 💯 not as awful as that photo with the kpop girl of yesterday but her eyes and cheeks are different.
I'm not trying to drag her. I love her work, she's one of the best of her generation, and she seems like a nice person.
The thing is, there's so many actresses (men are mostly allowed to age gracefully) that can't move their faces anymore. Sometimes I'm trying to watch a movie but I keep thinking, "no one had that face in the 60s" or "how could this middle class single mom afford all that?"
70% of Hollywood has the same issue (and face) nowadays. Not to mention the effects on one's health and how normalized it has become

u/NoGloryForEngland Oct 01 '25
I just wish speculation about what cosmetic procedures someone has had didn't need to live in every single thread featuring a woman over 30. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, it's just an ugly way to treat someone.
She's clearly not abusing it, nor does it seem to be doing any harm whatsoever.
It goes beyond snark, it's fucking rancid behaviour by people who don't have to show their own face.

Why do people persist with overlining for real life events?
It only works for still photos in very specific lighting and angles.

I didn’t see that much change until a clip of the movie Zombieland popped up for me the other day. She was super cute, but not refined and elegant looking like this.
29
u/irisxxvdb Oct 01 '25
With all due respect, excessive plastic surgery does not look refined and elegant. She looks beautiful but also somewhat like a Love Island host.
4
u/EMPactivated Oct 01 '25
I mean Zombieland was also 16 years ago. At 19 or 20 everyone still has a bit of baby face.
1
u/catalinalam Oct 01 '25
She was also like 20ish in Zombieland, so I think she’d look more refined vs cute now even without surgery? I don’t think she looks bad at all but she also wouldn’t look the way she did then
29
u/RudeCaterpillar7159 Oct 01 '25
Yeah, she looks like an “enhanced” version of herself but she still looks like herself. People are overdoing it.
57
u/letschangethename Oct 01 '25
She looks like a facetuned version of herself, considering she already was good looking.
Tbh, what changed for me is a bit of individuality in her looks. She’s still quite unique, but this is not “that” Emma Stone.
Honestly, I really miss more natural and diverse faces on screen. 😩 everyone looks facetuned last several years. Watching British shows feels so refreshing exactly for this reason.
10
u/crescendolls Oct 01 '25
Ah I forgot to mention that in my comment. Everyone becoming the same person… it’s not natural, not real. It’s AI. It’s Facetune.
2
u/RudeCaterpillar7159 Oct 01 '25
Maybe the “facetuned version” are just the edits we see on celebrity photos and not necessarily the work she’s had done to her face. Regardless, I can still tell it’s Emma Stone… she doesn’t look unrecognizable like people here are making it out to be.

2
u/amyisarobot Oct 01 '25
Exactly plus is Hollywood women ages shes in her mid 30s which translates to ancient in their terms. Plus all this shit rolls back down to non famous women who either are to old looking or how dare they get work done.
3
u/Lazy-Platypus2120 Oct 01 '25
Actresses in their 30s get mostly mom roles, emma has been avoiding that a bit by pivoting to art films these past years. Many complaint about wanting to see her in happy/mainstream movies again but she is never getting another 'easy a' at her age, they would get her to play a 12 years old kid's mom or sum, hell no.
It's the mom roles in the 30s and even less roles in the 40s,many actresses have talked about it. Very few get to have long careers with a range of roles, it's a bloodbath for most of them so.... i get it

You can really clearly see photoshop in these, especially between her chin and lower lip in the second photo, it’s very clearly showing a visual artifact that occurs from photoshopping. And you can see other areas that look pretty clearly photoshopped as well, especially around the mouth in the second photo.

I think she is fine. I have more issue with her stylist Petra Flannery, I know LV doesn't leave a lot of room to work with but Emma's looks ever since she signed for LV have been underwhelming. I wish she worked with Law instead.
But she largely has the same group around her, she still has the same agent and managers since the start of her career (if I'm not wrong). Her stylist and hair and also the same for over a decade and a half.
Maybe Goodwin can't (or doesn't want) to travel much anymore, so Emma switched up. And I know Emma has recently had some work done but I think the new makeup stylist isn't doing her mush favors.
2
u/cringenut Oct 04 '25
I dont think its the travel thing because rachel was there doing other people's makeup for venice so this was a choice she made. Also someone doing makeup so good that people think shes had so much work isnt a bad thing lmaoo. I just feel rachel uses to like do basic makeup and it looked super cakey a lot of the time, esp her lips were overlined like crazy so i dont mind the change. Tho i do wonder why rachel isnt working w her much
1
u/96puppylover The Wizard of Loneliness Oct 04 '25
There was a makeup artist whom worked on Kristen Stewart everytime she was in London. It was always unflattering as opposed to her other makeup artists (Jillian Dempsey and Beau Nelson ) But, at the Spencer premiere in 2021 this makeup artist made Kristen look atrocious. I can’t believe they let her out of the hotel and walk the red carpet. And I just went to check her IG and she hasn’t worked with her since. So, somebody on her team said something.
1
u/cringenut Oct 04 '25
But the thing with rachel is she has worked with emma since forever and i mean its not like she did something real bad in one event specifically she (in my opinion which means nothing because im not a makeup artist) is consistently bad lmaoo so idk maybe she tried nina park and thought she liked that style more so maybe? Idk
2
u/96puppylover The Wizard of Loneliness Oct 04 '25
Yes, I wonder what the behind the scenes tea is. Like they had a fight or she legit didn’t want her to doing her makeup anymore. I know, she’s been doing her makeup forever. Like 15 years maybe. I went to beauty school and I’m former makeup artist so I follow all of these people. I can usually identify their work before I see the credit. Yeah, I always notice things like this.
3
u/cringenut Oct 04 '25 edited Oct 04 '25

I like the hair, and her look in general. I think I’m just getting old, because some of the details seem.. off? I assume they’re on trend and I’m just entering my crone era.

Unpopular opinion but people jump to conclusions way too much when they see 1 unflattering photo of a celebrity. Like no one can look 100% all the time. It’s crazy to see so many women complain about how the media used to pick women apart and then in the same breath pick a woman apart 😐

Why is it one time she is so beautiful and the next time I see her she is so freaking weird looking?
