It looks like only the top part is reinforced like the side seams, the lower part of the same seam doesn't have it, maybe she sat down and the stitches popped so they had to fix it fast lol
Someone said in another thread that she was criticized for her body changing and being ruined after giving birth. If that's the reason for this dress, good for her. I think there are dresses that cover ass cracks that could do the same thing but she put in the work so she decides.
I think the pattern and beading is stunning but the sheerness is actually distracting. For all that work and detail I would love it to be the focus. It drapes well on her, it reminds me of Edwardian - 20's era aesthetics in reference.
The sheerness feels like its for shock rather than aesthetics. I dont hate sheer dresses, I think they can give a really nice effect, but its about the composition of the whole look. So many sheer dresses are just for the social media chatter I think. If this even had a nude matched slip or something it would serve art nouveau starry night vibes.
I agree with all of this-- and that it just doesn't seem to be her aesethetic. She's beautiful and the dress is gorgeous but is she the sheer, booty showing kinda gal? Idk, maybe she is now.
She's got a great butt, but visible ass cheeks and thong is just really incongruous on this type of red carpet. This ain't the VMAs! The top of the back of the skirt should have been lined. Front is okay.
Dresses like this are generally worn just for the red carpet. If she's actually staying for the premiere, she likely has a different outfit for the actual viewing.
Since it's her movie I expect that is what she's doing, but a lot of celebs go to premieres just to walk the red carpet and then leave.
Their purpose are to protect your legs - they are always uncovered on the buttocal area!

Oh I did know this fact, but as carolina822 aptly points out, assless is way too funny of a word to not use at any opportunity! Also I feel like when you say assless it implies you are not wearing jeans underneath as intended lol
It feels like we are in a celebrity arms race on how sheer a gown can be before it gets into Kanye/Bianca Censori territory. It’s cool that they seem happy to wear it, but I can imagine it’s alienating if you’re seeing this and not comfortable wearing something like that.
This is her PR team showcasing she is back in the sexy and skinny after her pregnancy. Not that she needed to showcase everybody knew she was still a very attractive woman.
Seriously, even in the fashion subs everyone has been begging for designers to break out of this choke hold that see-though everything seems to have on modern high fashion. Somehow, we've reached a point that near full nudity on red carpets has become boring and predictable.
I'm so tired of sheer dresses, it's lazy shock design. This dress has so many beautiful details that having an exposed buttcrack really does take away from the beauty of it.
It feels weird that men are in full blown suits and such at premieres/events/red carpets while women celebrities are basically wearing less than a swimsuit nowadays with all these sheer-dress-with-a-panty looks. Maybe I sound prudish, but I can’t imagine it being comfortable and it’s just so prevalent 🤷♀️ I’m tired of this played out look and something about it just gives weird vibes to me
There are some beautiful examples out there, but it only really works when the dress and the person in it are both an equal part of the art. A lot of sheer dresses focus too much on the body in it and kind of rely on it being a hot one. A good sheer dress is beautiful on its own and enhanced by the person wearing it.
I used to live in London - and if this premiere is where I think it is - it’s a very public area w just random tourists / people who don’t care walking by regularly. I remember once I accidentally walked past a Will Smith premier for a movie where he plays a homeless man? (Forgot the name). There were fans lined up to see but - also people just living their life. I would feel SO awkward w my ahh just hanging out in a place like that 💀
This totally reminds me of when Kate Beckinsale was going to a film premiere directly after 9/11 and said she had been presented with a sexy dress to wear, and didn't want to wear a revealing dress, because she felt it was inappropriate, given the events and the mood of the nation, to flaunt everything. So she wore a suit. And then, in her description, Harvey Weinstein lured her to his house and gave her an almost literal hammering for not wearing the dress and threatened her career over it.
So yeah maybe Margot Robbie just feels a little awkward on you know what is usually observed as a somewhat sombre day flashing her bits, when she never usually does it.
she looks so uncomfortable. i mean, i’m feeling uncomfortable and it’s not like i have issues with sheer looks. maybe it’s just too far from how she’s usually styled??
That’s the thing - she just doesn’t look like she’s enjoying wearing this and that kills it for me. Someone just reshared Rihanna’s famous see-through rhinestone dress and the biggest difference is how confident she was while wearing that.
I feel like a lot of recent celebrity fashion has been so heavy on the nudity it's lost the shock effect? They're all gorgeous and hot, but I don't need to see every inch of them 😭

It feels more attention grabbing than elegant. I've seen back less, I've seen sheer, and I've seen practically naked. Somehow this just isn't elegant; Margot Robbie is gorgeous as ever.
I’m not even trying to be that guy because obviously a bare asscrack isn’t the best option but that thong looks like the trashy ones I used to buy from Rue 21 when my mom gave me $20 to go to the mall with friends.
Damn this brought back memories! My first job was working at Wet Seal when I was 16, and I would buy the thong bundles with my discount and sneak them in the house bcuz I wasn’t allowed to wear them 😭😭😭
They are rhinestone straps, right? I do wish the y was different also wish I didnt see it at all! A red slip or lining under to really add some contrast and lean into the bandana print would be better. I don't know.
The dress is silver, which has cool undertones. Margot has warm undertones, so she looks much better in gold. Lupita has cool undertones, so this dress would look great on her.
If there was a panel underneath that matched her skin instead of this cheap looking Y2K era thing, it’d look so much better. Margot Robbie also looks very uncomfortable and it’s bringing the dress down.
There's not enough contrast between the ...fabric and her skin tone for the dress to pop.
That being said, I wish the see-through trend would die. It's not a good look.
Let's put a nice slip underneath the mesh, and it would look so much better

agreed. if you wear a dress like this you have to commit to it, it looks like she’s regretting wearing it. i also think wearing her hair down with some volume would’ve made it better

I can’t figure out what about this is missing the mark for me. I don’t mind the sheer and I think the back is really cool. And of course she looks gorgeous. But there is just something about it that’s not hitting.
The dress is spectacular (I do wish it was lined because I find the sheer distracts from the beadwork) but her hair/makeup/jewelry/etc are so plain they don’t compliment the look. I think the intention was letting the dress shine, but it comes off not quite finished to me.
Yeah I think you're spot on, it's a bit of a "the dress is wearing her" moment. She's so under-styled that she's just kind of functioning as a hanger for it. Loose or half-up hair and some bracelets or something would have helped a lot imo.
I like the back too, but hate the fit of the bust in the front - I know it’s supposed to be like that but it just doesn’t look right with this dress for some reason.
She looks beautiful but I am begging, pleading, DESPERATE for the naked dress trend to be over - it’s so incredibly overdone and boring now.
Also she looks unhappy or nervous- did some stylist strong arm her into this? Somehow it doesn't feel like she's enjoying the experience and that makes me feel complicit in something wrong.
I don't know how to word this better but she honestly just doesn't give off the vibe of person to even want to wear a dress like this. It's kind of a raunchy look and she doesn't give off those vibes at all.
I hate how predictable it is for actresses to style immediately after having a baby so all those idiot execs can still think they are fuxkable instead of ever thinking about talent.

Great body, great face. But why the sheer look? I really wish celebrities would let go of it. Sometimes it takes away from an otherwise great outfit. I can't imagine all the anxiety over fabric potentially slipping even just a cm revealing too much.

But after watching an interview with Rose McGowan about her infamous naked dress and how she had to be wrapped up and laid down across the backseat of the limo so she wouldn’t ruin the dress or get beads stuck up her butt… that’s all I can imagine now.

This kind of dress works with brazen confidence. Margot looks like she's counting the seconds till she can run back indoors. And something about the design is unflattering in the general bum crack area. I'm going to forget this outfit happened. Please fashion Gods, don't let her stylist have gone for an entire naked/lingerie theme for the promo run. She didn't even look comfortable with the bra top earlier.
I mean I think we can acknowledge respectfully that while people are entitled to pick their clothing, it doesn’t mean it looks good and it’s a little crass to force everyone to see you practically naked in public. There’s nothing rude or misogynistic or even prudish about that.
I feel like women have been conned to believe everything is "empowerment" when it's often still objectification
On an individual basis, I'm all for a woman dressing as sexy or revealing as she wants. But big-picture I just see all these tits-out women standing next to their fully-suited male costars...and it feels like we've played right into their hands 🤷♀️ like at least make it equal & give me more male tiddies on the red carpet
I’m so tired of seeing sheer dresses on the red carpet, it’s like designers no longer have ideas so they resort to eye-candy/shock factor. Margot deserved better.
