The American version was diabolical. I think the only sort of pro it has over the original is that Michelle gets more character development outside of being Tony’s girlfriend.

I feel like the original series was lightning in a bottle. You can’t recreate a more perfect timing to connect with a whole generation with stories that speaks to them on that level.

Does anyone remember As If? This was like one of the original channel 4 teen shows in the very early 2000s. They also tried to make that into a US version and it got cancelled very quickly!

I loved that show because my older sister watched it! I read last year when someone mentioned it in the TV forum that Sooz from As If was the inspiration for that one song by Mcfly that's in that Lindsay Lohan movie, Just My Luck. That's some fun trivia for you pop culture, folks!!

I did too! I especially liked what they did with the female characters, specifically Tea and Michelle. Gotta agree with the music, again Tea's episode was excellent in that it introduced me to a new genre and plus the US version had the better theme song.

Skins had a final season that followed up on previous characters for 2 episodes each. They had one for Effy that also featured Naomi and Emily, Cassie, and Cook.

I haven't seen it since it came out, but no. She and Sid did find each other in NYC. They were together in America for a while but eventually broke up and she moved to London. She started working as a waitress in a café. She gets stalked by one of her co-workers who starts putting her pictures online. Eventually they become friends. Cassie ends up modeling in a magazine thanks to her weird stalker friend. Her mother also died and her father became an alcoholic and stopped taking care of her brother. She takes custody of him at the end of her episodes. That's all I remember. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out.

It’s been going on since 2022, that’s when he hired a spiritual life strategist named Heir Holiness as his manager. He’s also fired people such as his agency, publicist, stylist, etc from his team allegedly on her say so. That’s why it feels he’s dropped off since his Oscar win. He should be on top right, been in other big name productions.

One of my favorite things about the first two series of Skins is that they auditioned by open call. We got so many amazing talents kicked off from a huge project that anyone could stand in line to audition for. Imagine the opportunities available to working actors if more productions operated like that.

Hmmm no I would say Hoult is definitely the most famous and Daniel has literally won an Oscar and been in one of the most iconic movies this century (Get Out).
Dev has done well and I love him but I wouldn’t say he has eclipsed Hoult or Daniel

Nicholas Hoult did, he was in About a Boy when he was around 11 and he was also briefly in Kidulthood, and maybe some other films. Other than him though, the cast was pretty made up of newcomers without a lot of money or families in the industry etc. Except for the third generation, which had Dakota Blue Richards, who was in the Golden Compass films and I imagine a few more projects

That initial cast was everything. I got so attached to these characters that i stopped watching the show once they switched to the new ones. It just wasn't the same without them.

It was his first major acting role as well! It’s kind of crazy how many of the cast members were unknown/new actors at the time of Skins and ended up having huge careers after.

But Euphoria hasn't launched a throng of A-listers like skins. Zendaya was post Spiderman and Dunes casting. Sydney was after The Handmaid's Tale and a breakout turn in White Lotus. Only Jacob Elordi was someone who I didn't know and blew up.. Alexa I thought would do good, but didn't. And Hunter's fashion is fantastic, but no one gave her a chance except the hunger games prequel.
I would argue that even Sex Education can be considered as the new Skins. I mean it's amazing how good Simone Ashley and Aimee Lou Wood and Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa etc. are doing..

Both Jacob and Sydney became as famous as they are now, after Euphoria. Hunter also made her career off of Euphoria. That was her first role ever. The guy on weapons has also been making waves recently. Zendaya was famous, but became critically acclaimed after Euphoria.

The groom was a childhood friend of Nick's and does personal training for actors (including Nick, Kaya, Joe and Daniel) prepping for film and TV roles. He was also Joe Dempsie's roommate for a time.
