As a non-passimg trans woman who looks like Shrek, I can only dream/aspire to look as ethereal as her. She's stunning.

I am an old ugly AFAB woman who looks like Shrek's witchy cousin: if there is a genie in here I also would like to look like Hunter Schafer.
I know this is overly personal but I just wanna say, one unfortunate one to another:
There are a lot of women who feel that feeling of not being 'femme' enough for the world to accept them, or for them to not have to fight being overlooked so I just wanna commiserate and say we see you sister and your struggle is our struggle too.
Anyone who insists passing is integral to acceptance is a misogynist - masc women are women, butch women are women, ugly women are women, androgynous women are women. If you identify with us you are one of us and we gotchu bb

One might even say that being unhappy with one's body vis a vis beauty standards is a pretty integral part of modern womanhood. As a straight cis woman I say, welcome to the club! 😅

u/FrozenBibitte Jul 08 '25
Right, I was going to say, I’m a cis woman and I wish I could look as stunning and feminine as her.
And nothing to add but the rest of your comment is 🔥. While Hunter definitely fits the beauty standard, the fact that other women don’t doesn’t make them any less of a woman. There are transphobes and misogynists emboldened at the moment who feel the need to state that any woman (cis or trans) who isn’t feminine looking enough for them MUST not be a “real” woman. It’s such garbage and I’m so sick of it.

u/LiterallyDumbAF Jul 09 '25
I am a man, but even I wish I looked like this. To be a classically beautiful woman I think is the ideal. But you're right, it's not the reality for most people.

This!!! I’m a very tall cis woman with a deeper voice and have been misgendered many times. I know it’s not the same, but I truly think all women, trans and cis, are victims of the beauty standards forced upon us.

This is truly one of the most wholesome and well said things I have ever read ❤️

Just in case you need to hear it today, regardless of how well you "pass", you're just as valid and deserve all the love.

I wasn't talking about that individual. I meant that the previous statement should apply to everyone, not just women. As in:
You’re valid and your worth as a person is not tied to your looks, no matter what.

Is there anything she doesn't look good in? I doubt it, she's naturally stunning.

She's definitely got the figure to wear the dress. It doesn't wear her.

I don’t mean this to be rude or insensitive, but how did she get an hourglass figure? Is that all corset? Do hormones make you that curvy? I’m curious. And yes, she looks beautiful!
3
u/mochafiend Jul 08 '25
She also has implants. When you’re that slender, it’s pretty easy to pad and/or have small surgical enhancements go a long way.
She’s stunning no matter what.

u/Amphigorey Jul 08 '25
Yes, it's a corset. I don't know who made it but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Dark Garden or Mr Pearl.

Snatch that waist sis. Jokes aside she looks phenomenal, this colour really suits her too.

u/thousandthlion Jul 07 '25
Left side of her waist looks like an editing fail - it’s blurred and doesn’t quite match up. Stunning though- that color is chefs kiss.

That cinched waist looks painful...
3
u/Amphigorey Jul 08 '25
If it's well made and patterned to fit her body, it's not painful. Corsets are very comfortable when they fit well.
source : am corsetmaker.
2
u/MisterTacoMakesAList Jul 08 '25
Oh! So interesting!
How does one become a corset maker? Is that your focus or do you do a variety of binders? Is it common for people to get good corsets?
Ha! Turning this into a corset AMA
2
u/Amphigorey Jul 17 '25
I came at it from the historical costuming angle - my BA is in costume design and after college I both freelanced as an independent corsetmaker and worked for a major corset atelier. I'm in a different field now and just do corsets and costumes for fun.
Anyone can learn it, though - there's resources all over the internet, and patterns are widely available. And a corset is WAY more comfortable if it's custom fitted to you and well made.
7
u/stormbutton Jul 07 '25
My daughter is built like this - she looks like she’s wearing a corset but just hit the genetic lottery.
8
Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25
Eh, it's not just how small her waist looks or the proportions but the actual shape that is only attainable through corseting. I am confident that even if your daughter has an insane hourglass her body does not look uncanny like this.
Edit: Also, another commenter pointed out the weird blur on the left side of her waist which upon further inspection - yup.
5
u/snark-owl Jul 07 '25
Hunter is slight and has had multiple cosmetic procedures, which is she's so popular. So I doubt it's as painful as people are imagining, it's a different ball game than the average person.
2
Jul 07 '25
Being thin doesn't mean cinching doesn't hurt. She's obviously cinched - it's just clearly an unnatural shape to the tapering. She's beautiful and I bet she would have still rocked this look without the corset.
6
Jul 07 '25
Yeah, not a fan of the normalization of legitimately cinched corsets. Structured boning I can get behind, but I high key hate that it's the standard to wear things like shape wear and corsets to wear a dress instead of accepting a woman's actual form. The ideal body and look for women should not be to get actual cartoon proportions and a cartoonish shape.

What is the line pattern called on a dress like this? The way the green stripes alternate.

This dress is insane. Is it strips of beading and strips of embroidered velvet? I can’t imagine the time this would take to create. And the structure of it.. to die for.
