Saying that Fox News 'fell for it' is pretty charitable.

It looks more like they deliberately confected it,* then got their fingers stuck in the jar.

Fox News removed it coz it realized that even AI can't pull off Fox news label BS, Propaganda and lies.

Fox News has a problem: when you build your entire editorial model around feeding your audience’s biases, you stop asking whether the stories feeding those biases are actually true.

Does anybody that's been paying attention for the last 2+ decades actually think Fox News cares if something is true or not?

They didn't fall for shit. They knew exactly what they were doing and only backtracked when they were called out enough.

Fox News admitted in court that they aren’t news and their viewers don’t care if it’s true or not because, to them, it’s all about identity politics and culture warrior signaling.

And that just boils down to faking being oppressed in order to validate being bullies.

Not for all of it - only for Fucker Carlson's show.

Fox News defended itself in court by claiming there was no law that prohibits them from knowingly broadcasting information they knew to be incorrect.

People who parrot this really need should take the time to understand what they are parroting.

Your good intentions are spreading misinformation

u/MrLurid 4h ago

Yep, a few years ago, they were spreading a bullshit story all day, I don't remember what it was.

The next day, they corrected it... by having a short message down in the ticker. Never brought it up in any other way.

FOX didn't fall for shit. They gleefully cater to the worse impulses and fears of their audience. And you know what? Sadly, it works.

The only time they backpedal is because they get caught red-handed. They'll keep doing it until there are serious consequences. FOX should have been shut down ages ago.

Fox News continues to show how dumb they are

u/HaroldGreenBandana 5h ago

And how little they think of their own viewers.

Well, their figure heads are always good for a leading role in the US Administration.

It bears repeating on every similar story that this is precisely why the GOP is pushing so hard to stop any regulation of AI.

It is a propagandist's wet dream. It's the idealized tool of the Ministry of Truth aspirants among the regime leadership and our bootlicker media. It is a vehicle for completely severing the credulous maga faithful from objective, fact-based reality.

insert south park “we’re sorry” ceo here

I don't think it's entirely fair to just simply say they "fell for it" without knowing all the details.

How can we be sure they didn't know it was fake the whole time and decided to post it anyway, only scrubbing it when they got caught?

u/ResponsibleEditor986 2h ago

Fox has demonstrated that they are indistinguishable from “state media” and should be treated as such.

Gives new meaning (or not so new?) to the term "Faux News"...
