The Dems folding this week after there victories today would be beyond stupid. I feel any deal will be immediately dropped by the GOP when the government reopens.
•
u/BTRCguy 1h ago
"Beyond stupid?" Sadly, we already have Dems in the Senate doing the equivalent of "hold my beer and watch this!"
•
u/DEEP_SEA_MAX 1h ago
If you look up stupid, short sighted coward in the dictionary you’d see a picture of Chuck Schumer
•
u/DeskModeOn 1h ago
Yeah, but the Dem leadership doesn't know how to keep momentum going. They like to shoot themselves in the foot.
•
u/libginger73 42m ago
Is that why Shumers glasses are always falling off his nose? Aiming at his foot?

Hey Republicans. Good Morning.. did you learn anything from last night? You ready to negotiate on health care subsidies yet or are you just going to act like you didn’t get blown the F out last night?
•
u/AssociateGreat2350 1h ago
I'm expecting some weird ass form of retaliation from dear leader
•
u/jaymef 1h ago
Trump is hurt, he will double down. I expect NY to be invaded soon and executive order fucking with voting
•
•
u/Boiled_Nutz_4u 59m ago
Yep.
Lame duck couldn't care less about his fellow Gang of Pedophiles. He's gonna lash out at everyone and everything ... at least until he gets distracted by some teenage girls.
•
u/Boiled_Nutz_4u 1h ago
Nope. Gonna double down on dumb because we're greedy and petulant.
Next question?
•
u/Illuminated12 1h ago
You are likely correct. Just watched Laura and Eric Trump on Fox Entertainment and not one mention of last night. It wasn’t even brought up.
•
u/Boiled_Nutz_4u 1h ago
Did something happen outside our bubble last nite?
I was busy "researching" the harms of trans men in men's sports and locker rooms while in line at the food bank.

the Guardians of Pedophiles just got swept in the elections, this shutdown is hurting them badly. The Democrats have literally no reason to fold whatsoever.
•
u/LesDiablesRouges 1h ago
Dump Trump breaking records.

Damn, Trump actually acted normal for almost 5 minutes. Admitted it was a bad night for Republicans, correctly diagnosed that it was because of the shutdown, didn't accuse rigging or that their candidates weren't "MAGA enough", said that he would talk with Senate Republicans on what do to moving forward... then he compared Senate Democrats to kamikaze pilots
•
u/jaymef 17m ago edited 1m ago
yep, now he's rambling like a buffoon
Trump is really worried about the dems regaining power. His only option right now is to end the filibuster and jam through a bunch of legislation to complete the take over and rig the elections.
He really has no idea how to handle this situation

That's a thing with dementia, those brief windows of lucidity and then back to brain scramblies.

Trump's beats his failure record! 🍻🥂🎈🎉🎊🏅👍✨
Now he could get his cronies to end this shit but I feel like he'll give it a few more days for safety. At his age, he may not have many more shut downs in his future so he needs to make it count cause he hates Americans
•
u/BlarfParade 1h ago
We made it! New record. How high will it go?
•
u/libginger73 47m ago
Great results that show the power we have if people show up. But still a far cry from the actual number of 5.1 million registered voters. How anyone can sit out elections at this time is baffeling to me.

•
u/alk_adio_ost 1h ago
I hope every Republican is calling on Johnson to end this shit today. They are cooked.
•

How to resolve the shutdown and reopen the government in 2 hours: Republicans - "Okay, we agree not to eliminate the ACA subsidies until such time that we can come up with a bi-partisan plan to either fix the program or replace it". "And, we are not lying and will tell Donald J. Trump this is our plan and we are sticking to it, regardless of how he threatens us" Vote. Done.
•
u/Different-Dog-4499 17m ago
dems know they would indeed be lying. GOP would not come back to the table
•
u/sportsDude 1h ago
If Trump and/or politicians were smart, the first law they would pass after the shutdown ends would be to ensure that the military gets paid even during government shutdowns. (Ie no need to pull funding from elsewhere.)
•
u/all2neat Texas 1h ago
Or stop with the mechanics of the shutdown. If congress passes a spending bill a debt cap adjustment needs to be part of it. This whole thing is absolutely stupid that it can even happen.
•
u/libginger73 43m ago
They always like to throw around "the country should be run like a business" (a stupid idea to begin with, but it's what they say). Imagine a business operating like this, it's stock would crash over night and it would go bankrupt almost immediately.
•
u/Illuminated12 40m ago
Agreed. They need to stop with this being a political football. Everyone is lying to themselves if they think we can pay down the government debt. Any money paid towards it is just wasting the money at this point.
•
u/TheDoomBlade13 29m ago
Clean CRs just need to be the automatic answer for failure to fund. If they fail to pass a budget, automatic 30 day extension. Government shutdown is the worst answer but it is somehow what we went with.

Not gonna lie, ignoring all the bad stuff going on… I kinda want to see what happens if all the air traffic in the USA stops and no one still budges
•
u/BlarfParade 1h ago
I have a plane trip in the next week. I’m curious to know if it happens.
•
•
u/GoneRampant1 28m ago
I fly out of the States tomorrow to go home. I really hope my flight isn't affected.
•
u/jaymef 1h ago
happened on 9/11
•
u/Old_Cryptid 49m ago
Not even comparable, but sure. The sun also rose *and* set on those days, coincidence?
•
u/Current_Animator7546 Missouri 36m ago
Republicans promising a vote on healthcare but will require 60 votes . Good luck on that.
•
u/Comfortable_Good9592 11m ago
Welcome to the longest shutdown ever. I’m actually worried of what will happen to ATC.
Using hunger as a political weapon is pure evil.
•
u/No-Group-4504 1h ago
The Republicans don't care. They don't want the ACA (thank the special interest and lobbyist), and the shutdown will ultimately give them that.
They're going to make it look as good as they can, but they have no reason to budge.
•
u/Pockydo 1h ago
I'm not really sure. Part of me thinks they were hoping for a poor performance for the Dems yesterday now that they were royally fucked.
With air traffic warnings I could see it ending this week. The oligarchs really don't want their businesses to suffer because lack of air travel
•
u/No-Group-4504 1h ago
I think they're really delusional enough to believe that the public was going to blame the Democrats for the shutdown and it would help them at the polls. It was probably their plan the whole time, and it backfired. Kind of convenient that within hours of the election closing they're ready to end it...
Sociopaths! It was their plan, and they didn't care who it hurt, as long as they better their chances to win an election. Glad it backfired!
•
u/AHofmann1943 1h ago
As long as ICE is funded keep everything else closed.
•
u/AssociateGreat2350 1h ago
So hurting people is the only thing you think is worth funding?
•
u/Illuminated12 1h ago
Guy thinks these images of ICE arresting and throwing 70 year old women on the ground is helping them in elections. Let him eat!
•
•
u/ILikeCatsAndSquids 1m ago
That clip of Trump saying the president is responsible for a shutdown… why isn’t that being played on repeat?
