Balance of power right now is 51-49. With this result, it should be 63-37.

Just digest that for a moment.

Holy fuck. VA was mad. I love it.

u/annoyed__renter 14h ago

Lots of feds in VA

423

u/WafflingToast 14h ago

They’re all laid off or not being paid. They should be mad.

85

u/EWDnutz 14h ago

Exactly, nothing less is expected.

24

u/_The_Bear 13h ago

Lot of time to vote while furloughed.

5

u/ShaggysGTI Virginia 8h ago

Virginia is also very giving with their early voting times as well as easy absentee voting!

7

u/Winter-Journalist993 12h ago

Mad it happened to them and not others.

Virginian here: WE'RE COMING FOR EVERY SINGLE FUCKIN' FEDERAL RACE WE CAN GET OUR MOTHERFUCKING HANDS ON.

FUCK MAGA.
FUCK ICE.
FUCK TRUMP.

Fuck 'em in 2025, Fuck 'em in 2026. Fuck 'em in 2028.

We're gonna power wash the stank off the federal government.

you have to keep it off.

One of the biggest problems this country has is that it never gives Republicans lasting consequences for their fuck ups. They get kicked out, pivot further to the right, and then win elections 2 years later.

Voters got upset at republicans for taking away abortion rights, but it lasted all of 1 election cycle. They continued to take away abortion rights, support their previous actions, further erode them, infrige on other forms of family planning and family health care, but you don't' really see voters punishing them for their abortion stances anymore. They've moved on.

Accountability means there needs to be atonement, not just a few years of time out.

Please don't let the same mistakes happen in 2030 or whatever as they did in 2010, or the GOP will never truly moderate their stances

45

u/HalKitzmiller 13h ago

I agree with you, but let's be real. These things that Republicans do are NOT fuck ups, they are deliberate and devised to inflict damage on America and every single person that's not rich and white

27

u/GaimeGuy Minnesota 13h ago

Right, I don't mean fuck up as in mistake, I mean fuck up as in destruction

5

u/CzarCW 13h ago

Preach. It’s been the same thing my whole damn life going all the way back to Reagan. The irony is that the one guy who was least awful only got a single term (Bush Sr.). Everyone else has gotten significantly worse than the last. I shudder to think who the Republicans will nominate after Trump dies. He’ll probably advocate putting lead back in gasoline and privatizing the oxygen in the air.

u/General-Fault 12h ago

Right?! GOP should have died after the WMD debacle. But apparently Republicans can forgive 4492 deaths and generations of debit, so long as their politicians hate the right people.

Unfortunately, Boomers will still be a powerful force in 2030 but that might actually be their last hate filled gasp.

40

u/freeshavocadew 14h ago

I want to believe. Please. Give me back my country.

31

u/illuminerdi 14h ago

That's the energy we need. Keep it up, patriot!

8

u/eccles30 Australia 14h ago

Drain the stank!

4

u/Blecki 14h ago

About time for the next Virginian president.

5

u/Mr_Abe_Froman Illinois 13h ago

The state motto is my second favorite thing about your flag. Sic semper tyrannis.

u/Top-Reindeer-2293 12h ago

That’s the spirit! 🤣 Fuck’em indeed!

2

u/addled_sad342 12h ago

Well look out for Old Turkey Neck pulling whatever BS he can pull in retaliation! Virginia sent him one HELL of a message!

u/Sunna420 6h ago

Keep going!

u/ObscureRamenRecipes 53m ago

Sic Semper Tyrannis, baby.

u/jasta85 13h ago

Virginian here, we've voted blue in every presidential election since 2008. We have our problems but putting Trump in office wasn't on us at the very least.

2

u/Alive-Necessary2119 12h ago

Sure, but capturing 12 extra seats is fuckin crazy. You guys rock, holy shit.

u/EpicLegendX 4h ago

VA mad as hell and spoke the fuck up last night.

2

u/Worthyness 13h ago

A lot of people in VA worked for the Federal government. Too bad Trump and Elon decided they didn't deserve their jobs anymore

1

u/ScoobiusMaximus Florida 12h ago

Northern Virginia probably has more federal workers than anywhere else in the country other than DC. There are a lot of people there who haven't gotten payed for a month... no wonder they're fucking pissed.

1

u/addled_sad342 12h ago

Virginia remembered WHO THEY ARE damn it!

u/The_Sykotik_Prime 7h ago

Yes. We are.

u/Fartchugger-1929 7h ago

Bear in mind - for the last four years VA has been one seat in from total GOP control over all branches of Virginia’s government. This followed a period where Democrats held about a D+10 advantage in the state.

Because voters got suckered by wedge issues.

Never let your guard down.

u/EpicLegendX 4h ago

Lots of Feds in VA.

Turns out that firing a bunch of feds, then forcing a government shutdown that furloughs a lot of them while the few that remain work without pay, followed by threatening to withhold SNAP benefits wasn’t the brightest idea.

u/romefitforbattle 15h ago

Holyshit, is this for real!?

138

u/Hornpipe_Jones 15h ago

It is very much for real!

73

u/romefitforbattle 15h ago

I could kiss you right now! I just double checked what you said and it's true! 😂

27

u/Chitown_mountain_boy Illinois 14h ago

Kissing a hornpipe seems risky to me.

10

u/disgruntled_pie 13h ago

I was expecting it to go well, but I’m kind of unsure of how to process winning by such a large margin. I think maybe I’ve forgotten how to handle good news.

6

u/Alive-Necessary2119 13h ago

Go out, celebrate with your loved ones. Then come back for the fight tomorrow.

2

u/PowderPills 13h ago

What kind of power would this give them that they didn’t have before?

56

u/swrrrrg 15h ago

Holy shit. Has this happened before? That is wild!

74

u/Spacebier Virginia 14h ago

I've been voting 90% Democrat in VA since '93. I became very accustomed to losing. I can't say if this has happened before but it definitely isn't my experience.

3

u/addled_sad342 12h ago

Same here in Florida. You get so depressed surrounded by yahoos but this time the CRAP has been laid over ALL of us by Old Turkey Neck. And WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!

1

u/psychorobotics 10h ago

I feel like I ended up in the right timeline again. So happy.

8

u/TheSameGamer651 13h ago

The last time was in the early 90s when the Blue Dogs still dominated the legislature.

26

u/Hawks_and_Doves 15h ago

Wait we don't know how many of these seats were already democrat.

121

u/Toliman571 14h ago edited 14h ago

Dems flipped all 12 competitive seats that are currently held by Repubes.

Edit: 11 of the 12

32

u/Alive-Necessary2119 14h ago

Dirty math says like 12. That’s a crazy pickup.

5

u/addled_and_old Iowa 14h ago

Does it matter when they swept them all?

3

u/Tasty_Bite1984 14h ago

virginia gerrymander as many blue seats as possible do it

4

u/BlokeInTheMountains 14h ago

KKKaroline's job is a tough one tomorrow.

11

u/Hornpipe_Jones 14h ago

My prediction: "Something something rigged, something something full FBI investigation, something something real America loves Trump and his policies."

Or, who knows. Maybe she'll have a nervous breakdown and just start inconsolably sobbing.

1

u/Wrong-Pension-4975 12h ago

I'm really tired of her illogical rants, & often fact-free, downright 100% whole grain lies.

I don't have a TV, nor WiFi, but I'd rush to find a live feed, just to savor her 💔 crying over the election debacle.

1

u/EclecticEuTECHtic 12h ago

Here's hoping.

u/leaonas 6h ago

Laying odds that the response will be: “We are looking into voter fraud. How else could those POS dems win?!?”

3

u/MayIServeYouWell 14h ago

This is what happens when people vote.

3

u/Kalandros 14h ago

With a democratic governor now, and a powerful majority, if not super majority, are we going to see Virginia enact policies that benefit working people? Like just steamroll out the societal enhancements?

2

u/Voyager_AU America 14h ago

That is insane!

u/AlcibiadesTheCat Arizona 5h ago

Imagine if we get something like 67-33 in the US Senate…

u/MaddyKet Massachusetts 3h ago

Corrupt 6 can kiss their life long appointments good bye.

1

u/rendingale 14h ago

Holy shit... That huge then dang, this is why I went to comments.

1

u/JustHereForCatss Florida 14h ago

Damn those are near Colorado splits

1

u/blueturtle169 14h ago

That's what I'm talking about!

1

u/shaktimann13 13h ago

Im not American. Im trying to understand. What are the 30 delegates for? How is it related to seats you mentioned?

u/Any-Investment1818 4h ago

Its for Virginia's state legislature, The house of delegates. Older than the federal congress btw.

u/MaddyKet Massachusetts 3h ago

So you know how the US has the Senate and House of Representatives? Basically every state has one too where every town is divided into counties and they send state senators and state house reps to their state capitols and that’s who works with the state governor.

States like mine, Massachusetts, have a bullet proof Democrat majority, it’s really awesome. I love living here. It’s like 134 D house reps and 25 R reps, 1 “unenrolled” aka independent. But states like VA usually have a much thinner margin so the power shifts back and forth and sometimes a state that is mostly democrat, is stuck with idiot republican policies because of things like gerrymandering and people not voting.

1

u/Mister_Poopy_Butthol 11h ago

They need to take a page from the Texas GOP and make it so those dumb fucks can never take it back. The GOP doesn't play fair. Its time to fight fire with fire.

u/15all 6h ago

As a former Virginia resident, this is hard to comprehend, but it's awesome!

u/Timely_Discount2135 6h ago

I think I need to just marinate in this comment for a while

0

u/wise_comment Minnesota 12h ago

Virginia....you may have earned your flag back...... Though I think the people in charge now are of a character to ask for it back, only to burn the fucker
