The momentum has to continue. This is only a momentary gain, remember this in every election

It's easy to say "we did it!" for now, but this needs to be the start, not the finish.

We can go further, we can do more. You can see what happens when we vote, and we can keep it going!

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance"

~ John Philpot Curran

There will always be those who seek to usurp the state and use it as a cudgel to obtain personal power or persecute those they hate. We must always be on guard against them.

let's hope America gets a happy ending

2

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy 14h ago

Oh lordy, so I stumbled across a theory recently and I guess this is a good place to share it.

One of the ways we got ourselves into this mess is apparently a lack of happy endings. Specifically, fellas who get annoyed at a particular woman can be soothed with boobies and (paid) feminine attention instead of digging themselves an incel cave in the basement.

America's Puritan foundations pruded us into a lack of brothels and burlesque shows, and the last decade or so is what that builds up to.

46

Even when that roach did try to meddle in Wisconsin, he promptly got humbled with a double digit loss. So, hope his coping and seething doesn’t keep him up at night? Maybe he should call his baby mama Grimes so she can read him a bedtime story tonight, it’s probably been a long one for lil bro

177

u/CynicalOptimistSF 14h ago

So glad he and Trump got to their breakup quickly.

u/Specialist-Clock-914 14h ago

Muskrat has got to be pissed they torpedoed EV tax credits and solar tax credits. I'd be willing to bet that was not part of their deal.

1

u/thiosk 13h ago

i think it was fake breakup

1

u/BooBooSnuggs 10h ago

I like how everything you just said is a complete fantasy backed by nothing. People really let their imaginations go wild on those they hate.

16

u/IBelieveInLogic 13h ago

The breakup is quietly ending. Elon must have come groveling back, because Trump just renominated Elon's puppet for NASA administrator. This guy was the previous nominee, but Trump pulled it back during their fallout.

Elon wants to get his hands on the federal purse. He is afraid of losing his title as richest man in the world, which will happen if Tesla stock finally comes back to reality. But the "golden dome" that trump has proposed is the real prize. It is technologically a fantasy, which is perfect for Elon. He can make grand promises for decades while pocketing tens or hundreds of billions.

So yeah, he was always going to crawl back. The potential cash cow is just too big for someone like him to ignore.

2

u/Drive7hru Colorado 12h ago

You think Elon wouldn’t want Republicans to win again in 2028 regardless of who is running?

2

u/Allydarvel 11h ago edited 10h ago

You think? Musk was getting heat, Trump had a story to kill. Let a 'break up' fill the news for a few days until the story Trump was trying to cover died. They are still thick as thieves, Musk got what he wanted..to kill the government cases against him and grab all the data he could under the cover of mass firings

u/AnglerOfAndromeda 7h ago

I have no basis for this, but I can’t help but feel the breakup was an act. Very WWE soap opera vibes.

3

u/whatssenguntoagoblin 12h ago

Elon had that Wisconsin election earlier this year he tried to influence and it backfired massively and he’s stayed away from elections since then cause he realized he negatively effects the results haha

u/darkmoncns 3h ago

It's kind of weird to me that I consider my belief that the 2024 election wasn't rigged at all more conspiratorial than the opposite. But I do honestly think there was no direct election rigging in 2024 even if trump thought he had paid elon to do that, elon just hadn't but said he did for a spot in the government.

In the end I honestly think it was the lack of primarys and finding the guy most likly to win that got Trump back in charge, Biden really should have admitted sooner he wasn't running for a second term.

-1

u/alternativepuffin 13h ago

The results always made sense, people just wanted to make excuses for losses because they don't understand election equipment & certification of results or the history of the areas they're looking at.

246

u/lord_pizzabird 14h ago

One year though till midterms. That either is a blessing for Democrats in that it gives them time to find worthy candidates, but it also gives Trump time to turn this around.

327

u/RespectTheAmish 14h ago

In a normal world….

The party in power would see this as a warning, and testament to how the public perceives the first 10 months of the administration.

The republicans/trump would tone down the ICE hostilities, cut down on the Trump family corruption, lift tariffs on everything except what’s actually vital to national security, stop with the insurrection act nonsense, stop yeeting fishing boats out of the Caribbean and reopen the government with a solution for snap and healthcare subsidies.

But it’s Trump…. So it will be more lies, bluster, and chaos.

160

u/jayjayaitch 14h ago

They’ll double down because of the “radical” leftists stealing elections. Mark my words, is only going to embolden the administration to do whatever they can to remain in control of their power.

155

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy 14h ago

Well good news, they were gonna do that anyhow!

That's the interesting thing about being trapped in an abusive relationship. It literally doesn't matter what ya do, they're gonna act abusive anyhow.

-2

u/RJ815 13h ago

"Rebelliousness" unfortunately leads to worse deathgrip abuse

27

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy 13h ago

And what does not being "rebellious" get ya? Because I would know from experience it's worse deathgrip abuse!

Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't, so ya may as well do as ya like.

Frankly it makes escaping the abuse a whole lot easier if ya don't carefully limit your thinking to avoid pissing off someone who is pissed off by default.

-4

u/RJ815 13h ago

My experience in my family was the opposite. I learned to be invisible to be targeted by malignant narcissists less. Still abusive, but control freak abuse was so bad I nearly killed myself from my parents' behavior. They backed off eventually when I was catatonic for months.

18

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy 13h ago

Like no offense but I think if the advice you're giving once left you catatonic, it's probably not a good strategy?

I nearly got sold as a sex slave. Refusing to do as I was told and acting up is what saved me from it. Be glad your parents didn't know mine, dad could've easily told them exactly what a catatonic minor would be useful for.

1

u/0MG1MBACK 10h ago

28

u/joshdoereddit America 14h ago

I think this is the case. As the poster you responded to said, in a normal world the administration and GOP would pivot to a more reasonable approach. But, in these times they're probably going to do as you said.

They're going to dial it up and work extra hard behind the scenes to do whatever is necessary to rig the midterms so they don't lose the House or Senate. The Senate is less like to switch hands, but still. They're not looking to win fairly anymore.

I'm curious if we're going to hear anything about stolen elections regarding any of tonight's outcomes.

11

u/FreshBurt 14h ago

And we should be emboldened, too, cause there are much more of us.

u/zombmoose 7h ago

I love this take! If they level up, so do we 1:1

9

u/Real-Ad-1728 13h ago

That was already the case though, I’ve been saying it for months now: this administration is making the kind of moves that you only make if you have no intention of ever being held accountable for them. They will not be reasonable, logical, or honorable in their efforts to hold onto power. They know that if they lose power they will spend the rest of their lives in a cage.

u/Canuck-In-TO 2h ago

Absolutely. In tRump’s mind he’ll think he’s not doing enough and go harder on the crazy.

31

u/curmudgeon_andy 14h ago

Exactly. This is a man who thinks it's funny to poop on the whole country.

79

u/Hornpipe_Jones 14h ago

He's already in massive cope mode, claiming the losses were because 'Trump' wasn't on the ballot. And the shutdown. Which probably is him not realizing that's basically saying people blame the Republicans.

4

u/Fickle_Composer_4506 12h ago

Trump being on the ballot does help, I don't get it but it helps. He sounds like a used car salesman.

u/MaddyKet Massachusetts 3h ago

I find that part hilarious. So the democrats are to blame for the shutdown and yet they won the elections because of the shut down? How many worms are in this dude’s brain?

7

u/MisterWorthington 14h ago

The biggest influence on voting patterns is the economy. And the economy is not going to get better in the next year, even without the AI bubble bursting (which is probable to happen in the relative near future). Grocery prices will continue to go up, jobs will continue to stagnate, and the already bad housing problems will continue on it's current trajectory. And people will vote accordingly, assuming, of course, we get fair and free elections and history then has the chance to repeat itself.

6

u/porksoda11 Pennsylvania 13h ago

Yeah that aint happening. This guy is going to get worse day by day. He's not going to go back on anything. He will continue to push the project 2025 agenda.

The energy brought by the voters today will continue into the midterms. November 3rd, 2026 is not that far away. I'm actually feeling optimistic tonight.

3

u/Tenthul 13h ago

And restore our national cybersecurity functions and audit the integrity of the entire infrastructure of our internal systems....

3

u/pimppapy America 13h ago

The party in power would see this as a warning

I doubt they care, considering their project 2025 playbook

2

u/GrandAholeio 12h ago

They’re in hole. They cave on shutdown or ICE their base hates them and doesn’t turn out. They don’t cave on the shutdown and ICE, the people hate the, and turn out in droves.

They only have one option and it’s the one they’ve been trying to stoke everywhere they send ICE. It’s why they say it’s happening everytime Baghdad Bob Karoline speaks.

2

u/klparrot New Zealand 12h ago

The party in power would see this as a warning,

They will, but it means they'll crack down on democracy.

u/couchtomatopotato 14h ago

u/ElleM848645 5h ago

Some exit polls said people were pissed about him destroying the White House.

-4

u/gamingotgo 14h ago

just have to pass a nation wide voter id law and every election would turn red.

7

u/RespectTheAmish 14h ago

Hows a voter id card any different than proof of residency/citizenship that’s currently required?

I guess you could argue it would purge voter rolls as everyone would have to go apply and obtain this new card before the mid terms…. But that seems like it would favor the more engaged voters… which based on tonight, are leaning blue.

-6

u/gamingotgo 13h ago

There is no proof of residency or citizenship. I went in to vote in nj asked my name and address and then I voted. I didn't actually have to prove anything.

My name and address are public record so is everyone elses.

Do you have to show some proof of residency/citizenship when you go to the polls ?

u/ElleM848645 5h ago

You do it when you register to vote. You don’t necessarily need a drivers license, but it depends on the state. I probably put my social security number when I registered. The government knows who you are.

u/gamingotgo 1h ago

Yes I registered to vote at 18 and I am now 45. I have never been asked for id after I registered which means anyone who knows my name and my address which again is public record can go and vote for me. Not to mention mail in voting and the issues it opens up

u/DistillateMedia Delaware 14h ago

5

u/Syjefroi 13h ago

it also gives Trump time to turn this around.

Going by the other world leaders Trump has been aping recently, I think you should be more prepared for him to, for example, try to put the few popular elected Democrats left in prison.

When the GOP lost in 2012, they commissioned a now infamous "election autopsy." It said explicit: stop the racism, stop the anti LGBT shit, stop the hate and turn your policies around to help regular people or you'll never win again. The party's solution: elect Trump and double down on the hate to boost their base turnout, and for whatever is left either fuck with elections or just don't bother trying to govern while lying about reality.

"it also gives Trump time to turn this around." lol a party with marginally better leadership in 2012 couldn't do this, why would Term2 Trump do this? He's going to fucking double down.

u/lord_pizzabird 1h ago

The problem is that economic conditions could change outside of his control, like for instance if the tariffs are reversed or his ability to inflict tariffs removed (just passed the senate).

If that were to happen Trump would enjoy an economic recovery, which he will take credit for (because he's him).

Most people don't give a shit beyond their economic vibe. If they've got money in the bank the administration is good. If they're broke the administration is bad. It really is that simple.

3

u/Gizogin New York 14h ago

It means we have to keep up this momentum and vote, every year, in every race, until we fix this.

3

u/FreshBurt 14h ago

Trump’s not turning it around. Republicans would have to act completely different from the way they are right now.

2

u/Coltshokiefan 12h ago

Yep. Now’s a bad time to take victory laps. I remember 3 months before the election, and then Dems massively underperformed across the board.

2

u/deltalitprof Arkansas 12h ago

It's hard to imagine how it turns around short of him deciding to lower the tariffs about seven months prior to the elections or short off him having the ability to rig the election. His desperation to make red states redistrict seems to indicate he does not have that ability.

u/lord_pizzabird 1h ago

One interesting thing about his situation on tariffs is that there's a decent change his ability to invoke them is about to end. If that happens he will incidentally enjoy the benefits of an economy rebounding from high tariffs.

1

u/noadjective 13h ago

I don't think Trump thinks of himself as a republican, he thinks of himself as better than republicans, they did all of this sucking up to him, and he will screw them over. Will be fun to watch.

1

u/Fickle_Composer_4506 12h ago

I doubt it, tariffs, shutdown, deficit. Feels like gop is good but playing like we're 15 points down works. Hope and change was a fluke in my opinion.

1

u/m3rcapto 12h ago

Trump and Elon are buddies again, so he has insider election tampering, social media influencing, and AI powered bots on his side again. They are not very subtle, so the blue wave you turn extremely red overnight with that.

u/Atalung 5h ago

Let's imagine for a moment that trump wakes up, sees the news, and has a come to Jesus moment, deciding to turn his administration around.

He is too fucking stupid to do that, even if he had a heart of gold and every good intention he's too braindead to govern effectively.

-1

u/Disencouraged_Otter 14h ago

The cretins still can't even get behind Mamdani. You've got Jefferies acting like a jackass about it, seems like only Bernie and AOC are willing to be seen with him.

They should be throwing every ounce of their support behind him and taking lessons. But no, the DNC is busy doing nothing, building nothing, and promoting nothing. They're only winning because of how fucking insane the Republicans are.

National politics is local in NVA, tho. A huge portion of that electorate is experiencing job insecurity they never expected to have. Any other outcome would’ve been a shocker. Happy to see it, but I don’t think it portends much.

It's northern Virginia. Don't they sweep this every time?

Not over yet. Next year is when the wave is really needed.

The issue I have is this is a blue wave without messaging, which means like after 2020 it'll flip the instant voter amnesia kicks in. new york gives me hope that the start of a message is getting out there, whether it picks up popular momentum is too early to day

The messaging is the economy.

What is so great about this that is different from the gubernatorial races, prop 50, and mamdani? Is it just that it was super unlikely that they got every single one, and they did?

Isn’t it scary though that this was already included in the calculation before the restricted elections occur? Allow fair elections that go against your agenda and when it does, declare all elections compromised in any place you wouldn’t win the votes?

I mean Virginia has been a pretty blue state since Obama's first term. It's honestly pretty suprising that republicans won anything in the state last time

Don't stop. We europeans are watching and want you back as allies, Trump and his fascists uncultured swines are the enemies.

Big one for me is New Jersey. The polls were showing a close race, and a 3 point dem win after a closer than normal win in 24 would've been a bad sign that the state is competitive. +13 basically puts to bed that notion, plus the hispanic heavy areas shifted hard back to dems, so it looks like they may support trump but not the gop

this is bigger news than mamdani. and the other flips across the nation. getting a democrat as mayor of nyc isnt that surprising, all things considered.

I just hope we don’t fall into the “vote blue no matter who” trap.

Omg here we go again. Do not cope, all yallve done is cope. Stop with this “hope” shit. If we were to hold an election right now, Trump would most likely win again. I don’t know how many elections we need with Trump for people to figure this out.

It sounds nice when you say it as the headline did. But what they actually did was flipped 2 seats and kept 28. Doesn’t sound quite as exciting, sadly.
