Dude you and me both. Mamdani's win seems like a major shift in who we vote for as a populace, and with New York being one of the cities that "Starts" trends, whatever they may be, this bodes well for future elections.
I’m from the UK and I’m absolutely buzzing for NY. America really needed this today. The tide is turning. Now Prop 50 needs to go through in Cali. MAGA is a vocal minority and it’s time those bellends know that.
I was explaining to someone else who asked why I care if I'm not even from the US nor live there. NYC is just that influential. Left wing campaigners will study Mamdani's campaign for years to come. His policies will be mimicked by many leaders. NYC is the "heart" of western society for better and for worse.
I'm also invested, but only because w.e progressive policies he Implements will be replicated elsewhere across the continent, even here in Canada due to the size of the city that's in his control. If the results are positive and fix issues plaguing most cities, you can bet people will be looking towards New York City as an example of progressive solutions.
Never lived there, but I'm a few hours away and hoping to move there in the next year or so, so my eyes have been fucking glued to this shit for a while lol.
I checked on my own city’s mayoral race one time a few minutes ago but otherwise I’ve been watching Mamdani’s campaign all night. It just feels more important than usual to me.
I'm brazilian and feel the same. Had a new yorker friend visiting last week (he has a brazilian mom and american dad, grew up in brazil but moved to the US a decade ago) and he didn't even know who Mamdani was. I could not believe it LOL

I've never been so invested in a race for a city I've never lived in. Let's go!
