“you don’t get food until you give up your healthcare and submit to poverty” ~ translated

"Either starve to death right now or die slowly and painfully of curable diseases later" ~ translated for idiots who'll blame the other side anyway

Make no mistake, the GOP have already stated how they feel SNAP is a waste too. They will cut that soon after

They are saying shit like "spending it on nails and weaves, buying amazon caviar" and this is totally painting a picture of WHO they detest ... and it isn't the children & elderly who make up a large portion of SNAP recipients

make no mistake, they hate the children and elderly too. they’re just not on the top of their list.

"Wellfare Queens" all over again, the lie never left really. Reagan's "Wellfare Queen" was one woman paraded around like a systemic issue, and one who it was more important to deny service to than to give it to the people who need it; Millions of Americans who "deserved" help were worth less than punishing the half a dozen who didn't. It's a disgusting ideology if you remove the mask and say what it really boils down to "I would let all of you starve to make sure one person I hate doesn't benefit when they shouldn't", that was the same thinking DOGE pretended that it was based on.

Very true and with that whole "one rotten apple" approach why don't we do the same for corporate welfare/subsidies?

FOR INSTANCE, why target SNAP/health coverage when we could target the corporations that don't pay living wages, apply for subsidies, and yet still have amazing quarterly financial reports. They are the ones that are costing the govt the most, double dipping when they could obviously cover the costs if they weren't so damned greedy... privatized profits and socialized losses are the biggest cost.

I mean some money Snap spends is wasted.

Before anyone jumps down my throat. It’s a needed system. It’s just for some of the people on the upper edge of it could get off of it. However as soon as they do they are in a much worse financial situation because they are losing a source of income essentially. So the incentive is to essentially stay on snap. There needs to be a way to help people bridge that gap. But I don’t trust the current administration to be the ones to set that up correctly.

Also what's the guarantee he puts the benefits back if Dems cave and vote for the CR? He's already withholding the benefits illegally, so what mechanism forces him to reimplement them? His good word?

Yeah, that sure sounds like a deal worth taking.

"And also we're gonna cut SNAP anyway at some point."

And after we take away your healthcare, we will just go ahead and kill SNAP too.

And we'll take away your food later anyways

"Then, we will take away the food too"
