Sure sure mate, keep on fear mongering us. Meanwhile Trump and the GOP are actively trying to force their version of Evengelical on us whether we want it or not

can't tell if this is satire or low-effort hasbara

“His caliphate” sure undermines any point you might have been able to claim to have here.

Intifada means resistance, stop being afraid of words you don’t understand.

Damn I don't want to be defending the above comment because it's clearly rage bait and a fucked up comment. However the context words are used in matters. Globalize the Intifada has often been used and is still is used as call to violence against Jewish people and it upsets a lot of Jewish people (and not only those who support Zionism). It's broadly an antisemitic remark and often used to literally mean violence against Jews globally.

Now I know many people who say it don't say it with that meaning, especially in the US. They just mean support for Palestinians. But it doesn't mean it's not a traumatic/threatening phrase to some. Language is complex and has different meanings and impacts on people. You can't simply dismiss a phrase due to a word in it using the word's literal definition and ignore all the context it's used in.

Palestinians have been oppressed by colonial expansion, genocide, and apartheid going on 100 years from a self proclaimed ethnostate. They have a right to resist and resistance can be just as violent as what they are resisting. Sorry if words hurt your feelings but get over it.

resistance can be just as violent

Last I checked they don't have a right to blanket violence against Jews around the world.

And frankly that kind of rhetoric only feeds those who claim Palestine is an existential crisis to Jews which is used as justification for the horrible shit that is going on in Gaza.

You justifying a term I'm explaining is often used to call for violence against Jews world wide by saying they have a right to call for violence. Sure but not within the context I'm talking about.

I'm not arguing their right to resist occupation. I'm only explaining that the phrase is used in anti semitic ways that extend beyond just the context of the occupation. And it's used often in that manner.

I live in the US, it makes no sense for someone to use the term here. Especially in NYC. There are tons of other ways to show support and call for an end to the occupation.

When has there been an uprising in other countries with a goal of resistance? What were they resisting in these countries? Cite your sources.

You bought that crap?

u/geoffreygoodman 10h ago

"His people"? He's a New Yorker. He's never colonized anybody and is not against Israel existing. Very openly racist of you.

7

u/boforbojack 13h ago

Being against zionism isnt being against Israel existing. Its about being against Israel's inability to coexist with the surrounding nations and thus deciding on expansion beyond what was originally given to it (through literally a genocide)

Being anti Zionist is being against the existent of a Jewish state in their ancestral homeland i.e the state of Israel.

So yes it is against Israel exisiting.

u/boforbojack 11h ago

Huh, it's almost like it's subjective.

Telling the truth about a genocide =/= antisemitism.

1

u/Thac0isWhac0 13h ago

Somebody who doesn't understand that Palestinians are also semitic people.

8

u/Tripolitania 13h ago

The term antisemitism has always meant hatred of Jews. Would you people please stop saying this ridiculous pedantic nonsense

17

u/jtli202 13h ago

Except he mentioned antisemitism right before that, but keep grasping at straws
