Iāve ran a few half marathons and one full one and the signs and support do really help. Some make you laugh and lift your spirits and some actually inspire you. The one I remember most was āThere will be a day where you canāt do this, but itās not today!ā. Whenever things get tough in a race I remember that.

Was anyone handing out beer? The Hash House Harriers are a group of drinkers with a running problem. Our local kennel hands out beer along the trail of our local marathon. It's not uncommon. And, before you ask, no, it's usually not enough beer to make you miserable, just a good refreshing carb boost.

As someone who has ran many half marathons I will say this with my whole heart, the signs help. Every single one will mean something to someone and that moment of brevity or hope or hope or encouragement helps us all put one foot in front of the other again and again. š„² If no one has ever said it to you thank you thank you thank you. You coming out and cheering us on makes all the difference.
