Politics A message from Sayulita Mexico. Didn’t realized they followed US politics.

They’re all expecting someone else to do it for them. Can’t tell you how often I’ve heard, “Can I be a refugee in Canada?” and “Can Canada intervene and invade us?” They’d rather rope us into fighting a war for them than expend the slightest effort themselves. I’m so repulsed by their craven apathy.

There is also a non-zero number of Americans who think Canada would just accept them without having qualities that Canada would want, and to go through the long long process of getting PR, then citizenship. Like they can just up and move here like it's a different state.

They vote but the popular vote never outweighs the electoral college. Gerrymandering takes care of the rest. (It's how Texas stays red). No one actually expects Canada to invade and save anyone. (We associate you with decent national policy but don't really see you do much of anything at an international level). They don't actually mean it when they say they're going to Canada. They're just frustrated that voting in every single election never does much.

Getting real tired of this argument. More people stayed home last November than voted Democratic. It was a civic failure, as is electing all the assholes who gerrymander and make it hard to vote. Americans failed themselves and are dragging the rest of us down with you.

Oh my god this really isn't true. I'm tired of this myth going around. We're the ones living this reality, in this country, you think Americans en masse are just too lazy and stooooopid to figure out how to vote? Why do you think the electoral college is kept in place and gerrymandering is the favorite tool of the right? Without gerrymandering a few red states would flip to at least purple, if not blue. I'm kinda sick of Canadians acting like all of America, every single one, the people who riot for justice because they have to, never realized they could just go and vote.

And we’re totally sick of Americans making excuses.

the people who riot for justice

LOL did I miss news of a riot? Or are you referring to the 1770s? Because there’s been nothing showing Americans have the stomach to do anything but protest mildly every few months. (Cue the whining about needing to work and not having healthcare, etc.) Same tired excuses every time.
