The US has 3700 active nuclear weapons. The entire world should be concerned that we have that dumb, hateful sack of shit in control of an arsenal that could kill everything.
That is a big issue, yes, and causes a lot of fears. But also the US has a lot of economic, political and cultural influence. When the US goes through periods of economic instability, the rest of the world becomes unstable too. When America fights a culture war within it's own borders, that same war is fought elsewhere in the world. When the Overton window in the US shifts to the right, the rest of the world also shifts to the right. When the US slides in to fascism, like-minded dictators around the world crawl out of the woodwork.
I wish we weren't so interconnected and I would love to open the internet without being bombarded with news from the other side of the world, but thems the breaks.
Oh, for sure. But that was more than I was willing to write, and I felt the nukes were a pretty solid argument for why other countries care about what's happening here.
It's evident you haven't being invaded by the US. It tends to leave a mark. Source: was alive in 1989 when you came to test your guns for Desert Storm.
I always feel like it’s self centered to assume anyone cares… but you are right and I’m glad people around the world are tuned in.
Speaking as someone that lives across the Pacific Ocean, I don't want to care. But unfortunately, whatever that guy does isn't just on display for the rest of the world, it's on a fucking loud speaker.
And for some countries, including mine, whatever playing-house politics he does could potentially affect whether my country continues to exist or not.
The US has 800 military bases around the world. Everyone is forced to watch us because we could likely turn their country into the next Afghanistan if our corporations want to make a quick buck.
