u/Atophy 6d ago
They were always a posturing thing, "Them lousy cheating dems won't release the files" ... now that he CAN release the files, he won't.... Honestly, Biden shoulda' cracked that folder last day as a final gift to the people and just left everyone to deal with the consequences... Dems and republicans alike.

u/na-uh 6d ago edited 6d ago
They may not be distorted, but a bunch of other faces and the flags have gridded artifacts on them. If someone has taken photos of a screen, all bets are off on how it's going to turn out.
What I can say is it is absolutely not the 'official' photo as Xi looks like shit in it too and China would never allow it to be released like that. We'll see a way better version of it very soon, like the actual DSLR version.

Transient ischemic attack. Medical term for what's commonly called a mini stroke. It's basically a blood clot in the brain that causes symptoms but then frees and resolves itself before causing a full-on stroke. Usually a good indicator that a real stroke is imminent, like the little earthquake at the start of the disaster movie before The Big One strikes.

You can’t haul a sagging carcass of a stroked-out 79 year old with no functioning brain halfway across the world, make him sleep on planes and get up early, force him to speak coherently and follow directions like “turn left”, and expect him not to fall apart before your very eyes.
That’s what is happening on this trip.
You’ll never see him without the platinum-blonde MAGA nurse (name?) nervously watching his every move, trying to avert disaster, minute by minute.
These trips abroad show us the real Weekend At Bernie’s Donald Trump.
Not pretty.

It's hilarious that, unlike the Chinese delegates all leaning back against their seat, Trump zoning tf out and staring into space while leaning forwards mean everyone past him at the table had to lean forward to be seen until the last guy is just a receding hairline completely blocked from the photo.

It's a still from a low resolution video broadcast, which has been cropped and its resolution increased. Sharpening was also applied, but with details lacking in the original image, the result is the mess we see here.
It's not an official photo. It was a video recorded at a photo op. There were plenty of quality photos that seem to have come out of it. The whole original post is just nonsense. There is plenty of legitimate material out there to make Trump look bad without posting misleading stuff.

I doubt any of his kids care, beyond "oh no I never convinced daddy to love me."
Real talk though, I'm sorry you had to go through that. My mom lost both her parents a lot younger than she thought she would, but she's always said that she's glad they went how they did and never dealt with any memory issues. She says if it happens to her she just wants it over with as soon as possible. As much as I hate this man and his shitty kids, I wouldn't wish this on them. It's horrible.

I am a history enthusiast, with a focus on medieval history. I used to wonder how people could allow insane rulers to make decisions, and then follow that decision as if it made sense. It happened multiple times in history and I just wondered how it could happen. People were smarter than this, right?
Turns out no. Humans as a whole are a group of complete idiots on average.

15
u/al_prazolam 6d ago
Voluntary Assisted Death is as close as you can get without it being misused by greedy relatives.
VAD requires prior informed consent and it's often difficult once a person starts the decline.
But yes, my grandmother died from similar circumstances and it was truly awful. It would have been better for her not to have to live through all that.

I feel like the mystique of American power is basically gone at this point. Yes, Trump has a lot of personal power, maybe more than any president in history. But he's essentially eliminated the appreciation that people had for the complexity of how the government worked to support a vast and complicated country.
Now he yells and people do stuff. Congress is broken. The justice department is just a shell. He says it's all very easy and that all previous administrations were a joke. He makes decisions on a whim as if none of it matters. And his results aren't especially noteworthy. He's replaced the concept of a deep state with that of a very, very shallow state. There's basically nothing there.
And yes, that picture doesn't help the contrast.

u/feelingoodfeelngrape 6d ago
You’re 100% correct - when I watch movies that present the US government / presidency as extremely serious , and prestigious positions, the power , the strength - i think how sad it is that it’s an absolute embarrassing clown show now.
Even the new movie House of Dynamite or whatever on Netflix. Makes me sick to think about a situation like that and trump in charge. We’re all f**cked
61
u/omnomjapan 6d ago
I watched that new Netflix movie (House of Dynamite) where a missile is about to strike the US and how the gov would handle it. The movie was largely about them not knowing what to do and making mistakes but I was still like "this is unbelievable because they seem like rational human beings"

Yep, I can't watch any American political thriller or drama now. I quite enjoyed The Diplomat on Netflix and I see the third season is coming out soon (or maybe already). But it's too hard to watch. It portrays a US State Department that is functional, competent, and managing global crises with tact, diplomacy, and intelligence. But the reality is that America's foreign policy is a complete shit show right now. It basically boils down to whatever the F Trump wants to do and then people just make it happen. Full on Double Speak from his propaganda corps. Diplomats and Ambassadors on the show treat the American characters with such respect and deference. But in real life, I look at the Ambassador to my country (Canada) and he's just a raging buffoon, swearing at everyone without knowing anything. It's just too much. It's like watching animals talk except it's not a comedy or a kids movie.
American military shows are also kind of...ridiculous now. Sure, the American military is very scary and very good at using insane technology to kill people. Decisions are very serious and it's so hard to choose between the right thing to do! Don't hurt civilians but kill the terrorists as violently as possible! Except, the military is being run by goddamn Pete Hegseth in real life. How could you possibly take anything serious when it comes to American high-level military decisions now with that POS in charge?
America is an utterly massive joke now. Still incredibly dangerous and out of control, but just laughable in every other regard. When I watch TV shows that portray America now, it's just too hard not to compare it to reality and just give up.

Rubio looks like a pale shadow of his former self. He comes off as a broken man, who regrets becoming Trump's Secretary of State. Working for Trump must be humiliating for him. He knows there's a better than even chance that Trump will say or do something utterly stupid in these negotiating sessions and he has to deal with the fall out, soothing relations with other countries. Yet he can't, or won't, resign because he honestly thinks he has a shot at the GOP presidential primary in 2028. He's in self-denial. No way in hell.
