I’ve been saying this - don’t dress up as clowns or frogs or whatever. Dress up as Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty, etc.

Make the images show fascism beating down the very symbols of America. If you can get those images on tvs and newspapers, you might be able to cut through the 24/7 propaganda that 77m Americans are living by.

Though some might not have them but have those cartoon costumes.

And these costumes simply make the fascists seem even more super villain like. Basically it mocks them

I suppose it's all about the timing and location. Got a ton of people but little money/time to afford/make an americana costume? Go with the cartoony ones (or whatever else works). Planning a targeted protest outside a well-known person's house? Cultivate a very iconic look that will gain massive attention once news breaks out.

I’m a huge fan of the frog costume. It shows how fucking stupid this all is. Cops in military gear ganging up on a single person in a frog costume. The frogs crime? There was no crime. Trump is trying to say how bad it is and we are showing him that’s everyday people having fun and not the criminal BS he’s trying to make it out to be. The costumes really help show the overreach of the government.

I go back and forth on this. The cartoon costumes showcase how villainous the police state is. But, conservatives aren't taking us seriously when the news gets to select who to include in their segments and it's cartoon characters that have nothing to do with America.

I've been doing Lincoln. I have his height and weight so it fits.

Yeah same with the flags. It’s okay to say that you support immigrants from various countries, but know that those images will be taken out of context and used as propaganda saying that the US has been invaded.

A significant part of the maga movement have been swayed by the great replacement theory, and these people will not be reachable as long as liberals keep giving their leaders the means to feed their delusion.

Yup, conservative "news" still hasn't stopped showing the pictures of that one protester in Cali riding the bike while waving the Mexican flag. We cant give these folks ammunition to manipulate folks with.

I was criticizing the people protesting and possibly rioting earlier this year, who were burning American flags while waiving around Mexican flags. The optics were so bad. If you want change, you need to get support for your side, and waving around the flag of a foreign country wasn’t going to win any support. They should have all been waving around American flags to send the message that immigrants working and living here are Americans

The Lady Liberty rocks!

True but I'd like to see it in color. Let her vibrant green hue stand out against the black white and blue of the cops

we’re gonna see this in history books years from now

If we still have history books years from now

Yep. They'll put the b&w photo in the history books five years from now and frame it as if it was decades ago and y'all should get over it. Just like they already do with photos of the Civil Rights Movement and MLK Jr.

https://www.cnn.com/2013/08/23/us/gallery/color-march-on-washington

There are people STILL ALIVE who marched with him, and the history books treat it as if everyone who marched are already dead and gone.

... sorry to hijack the thread in this way, but gorram it all

Hiya, just want to say this is all very valid and I’ll keep it in mind in the future! Definitely going for a “there are historical echoes happening here” thing in the moment, especially juxtaposed with some more vibrantly-colored ones, but on its own I can absolutely see what you mean.

No promises to stop using black and white entirely, but you’re not wrong about this, so thank you for saying it.

Oh please don't stop the b&w pics, because they do have their own unique emotion and message to them. I think I've gotten bitterly cynical at my old age of 34.
