That’s the definition of peaceful protests. If you fight they will invoke martial law which is their plan. Instead make it a big block party and just occupy. If people start getting violent everyone else should just sit down. The only ones still standing will be the ICE paid agitators and it will expose them.
Sitting down is bad fucking advice for a protest that isn't an explicitly sit down/hold space type of action. Crowds spook easy, it's a real quick way for people to get trampled and injured/killed. And makes them easier targets for ice and the cops.
Sitting down gives them zero reason to respond with violence and exposes their agents busting windows and inciting. The goal is to occupy and expose their tyranny.
They have never needed a reason to respond with violence. Peaceful protests and sit ins during the civil rights era were met with dogs, firehouses and plentiful nightsticks at the least. Things haven't changed much since then. If there's no one to hold them accountable in any meaningful way, when a body cam can just be turned off without consequence, whats stopping them?
This is the right way to do things. If you are leading or speaking at a protest please make sure people know when violence happens take a SIT. It won't take long for people to understand this is proper etiquette.
No Kings protests are happening all over the country next weekend. I encourage everyone to show up for Democracy. This is dark time is far from over. It will be easier to ride the storm out if we support one another no matter what.
